Minnesota Vikings DB Chris Cook was found not guilty of assault based on an October incident with his girlfriend at the time.
After the verdict was given, he apologized to his family and the family of his former girlfriend. He testified that he hit Chantel Baker in self-defense, and Baker also told the court she lied to police because she wanted Cook to go to jail when she was upset.
"At that time, that night, I wanted him to go to jail," she said.
"I just encourage people to not jump to conclusions," Cook added. "You know, there’s always a story to hear no matter what you think or what your opinion is. You can’t just judge someone by what you read or what you hear about them -- or even if you just see them from down the street. You can’t really judge people, you know? You have to give people a chance to show you their character and prove their worth to you."

Vikes Cook Apologizes To Fans, Not To Anyone Else...
((HT: MyFoxTwinCities))
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook was charged with felony domestic assault after police say he choked a woman in his home until her eyes hemorrhaged.
"My apologies to the fans! Vikings ownership, coaching staff, my teammates and friends and family!!" Cook posted on Twitter Tuesday afternoon after posting a $40,000 bail. That followed a Tweet that said, "There's always two sides to a story!!"
"She was strangled not once, but twice," said Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman.
Officers confirmed marks on the woman’s neck and broken blood vessels in her eye, both signs of strangulation. The woman was then treated for her injuries and Cook was taken into custody from the scene...
