It was a history-making day at Martinsville this afternoon as Darrell Wallace, Junior became the first black driver in 50 years to win a top-level NASCAR-sanctioned event. Wallace won the truck series event after dueling Jeb Burton at the restart with five laps to go...
Here's the finish and the highlights...
Wendell Scott won in Jacksonville in December 1963 in what is now the Sprint Cup Series.
"We congratulate Darrell Wallace Jr. on his first national series victory, one that will be remembered as a remarkable moment in our sport's history," NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France said.
"I had a chance to talk with Darrell and his father in Victory Lane today and we are just thrilled for him and his entire family on the win in Martinsville," car owner Joe Gibbs said. "We obviously think a lot about Darrell. He has tremendous talent and we really believe he can have a huge impact on our sport."
But there were more fireworks after the event as Kevin Harvick went on mic and expressed his displeasure toward Ty Dillon and RCR Racing for getting spun late in a battle for positioning...

"When Girlfriends Attack" Starring Max Papis
((HT: FoxSports/Spencer))
All hell broke loose after the truck race north of the border...
Mike Skeen and Max Papis were going at it pretty hard late in the race which led to... afterwards...
Well, this...
Papis talked to Lee Spencer about it:
“I got out of the truck and got assaulted by some of the mechanics of the 6 truck,” Papis said. “That was really poor as well. I just didn’t want to create extra problems. I got out of the truck and went to talk to this kid – but he didn’t want to stand up for his own issues. I got out and this lady came running up to me and she started screaming and hit me so hard that she dislocated my jaw. But I’m not hitting anyone – especially a lady.
“This was a wife or, whatever, a girlfriend of that kid. I thank my wife for being cool about this stuff. That was between me and that guy right there — I don’t even know his name — the 6 driver. It was not between the crew. It was not between me and his girlfriend, wife, whatever she was. I’ve got to think about what I want to do here. I talked to NASCAR about it, and I’m not very happy about what happened there. I don’t know. I might consider something about pressing charges — it’s not good. What she did is not good. I didn’t like that at all. I went to NASCAR and talked to them.”
So, all of this takes the focus off Chase Elliott and his win in the series...
So, congrats to the Elliott family...
But, this is what we're all talking about...
Here's the postrace interview with the slap for good measure...
