OSG High: DeMatha Wins As Alleged Prostitution Scandal Continues

After a stressful Friday following after news broke that some DeMatha football players solicited prostitutes in the hotel following the Stags season opening win in North Carolina they had a game scheduled that night.

DeMatha faced Calvert Hall (MD) at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis and won a close one 23-14.

The Stags ran off to a 20-0 lead until Calvert Hall scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter.  DeMatha added a fourth quarter field goal to win it.

“I think the boys did an outstanding job,” DeMatha head coach Elijah Brooks was quoted in the Washington Post after the game. “It’s a true test to their character. We have a great group of guys and it was a tough day for the entire DeMatha community but I love how we stuck together and came out and got this victory.”

OSG High: DeMatha Football Players Kicked Off Team For Allegedly Hiring Prostitutes

The football program at DeMatha Cathloic in Hyattsville, Maryland is in the middle of a scandal.

The Washington Post is reporting that five DeMatha football players were removed from the football team following an incident at a Durham, NC hotel.  DeMatha was in the bull city for their season opener against Hillside.  A game DeMatha won.

A parent who child withdrew from school indicates that players hired prostitutes from a call service in North Carolina and some engaged in sexual activities with those prostitutes in a hotel room. The incident occurred at 5 a.m. on Saturday morning after DeMatha’s game Friday night according to the Washington Post who cite two people with knowledge of the incident.

“I’m not able to” comment, said DeMatha head coach Elijah Brooks said. “There are still kids that have to go through the disciplinary hearing. I just can’t comment.”

DeMatha principal Daniel McMahon said they school found out about the incident Tuesday in a statement released by the school.

“The school stands behind our coach, Elijah Brooks, his staff, the school staff who monitored the trip, and our students.” McMahon wrote in a statement. “The school community is saddened and hurt by the actions of these few who do not reflect the character of the community.”

DeMatha is scheduled to play Calvert Hall in Annapolis, Maryland Friday night.
