And it appears that he's quite skeptical over the idea that former Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino said that he and Jessica Dorrell "decided to be friends" in February...

Dorrell Settles For $14K

Arkansas AD Jeff Long released a statement about now-former Arkansas employee Jessica Dorell:

"While Ms. Dorrell had a legitimate right to apply for and accept a position within the football program, the circumstances surrounding the former coach's decision to hire her compromised her ability to be effective in such a position. She and I believe she should have the opportunity to move on."

Dorrell has, apparently, agreed she would not try and sell and/or profit from her time that she was that employed by the University of Arkansas. Long admits that as a result of the "resolution of all matters between the parties" that Dorrell is leaving her job with a $14,000 settlement...

Nothing more...

Here's some interesting surveillance video that gives you another look at the Petrino incident after the accident. Dorrell's new black Acura can be seen in the upper-left corner of the screen.

Look for a white Jeep entering the far parking lot and, then, take a left into the lot and stop.

Then, you see Dorrell's black Acura pull forward, stop again before pulling out of the parking lot and exiting the frame in the top right-hand side. This happens at, around, the 2:45 mark...

One of the story's emerging today in the Bobby Petrino scandal fallout is that his home in Arkansas is for sale.

However....

Those who made a big deal over this may be a bit presumptuous. A quick archive search from the folks at Arkansas360.com showed the house yes is on sale, but has been since 2010.

So you are probably asking; "Why are you reporting this?"

The answer, "Because we can".

No, it really isn't a big deal, but based on some of the headlines we saw earlier in the day, its being made out to be one.

Now...that being said, what is an interesting part of the story is the phone record detective work done by our friends at Deadspin. And if you ever do something sleazy bad, you don't want those guys on your trail.

Some of writer Barry Petchesky's findings: Jessica Dorrell may not have been the only "Young Hottie" Petrino made moves on.

According to the records, he exchanged a ton of messages with an Alison Melder. Melder is a former bikini and lingerie model who "Was" employed with the Republican Party of Arkansas.

At least until this afternoon.

Yeah. We know. This is kind of gross and having met and dealt with Petrino in the past, we have no earthly idea what any woman, never mind the hotties he's now being linked with would want to do with him.

But, even though we try steering clear of the TMZ style of reporting, we feel compelled to let you know about this. It's kind of like watching a train or car wreck, you just can't turn away.

We hope...for both Petrino's sake...and ours, that he goes and crawls under the rock he came out from for awhile. As more stuff like this keeps coming out, the chances of him returning to coaching anytime in the near future get slimmer and slimmer.

And no, we are pretty sure he doesn't have the option that most fired coaches looking for work do, going to work for ESPN for a year as an analyst as an option considering his general disdain for and by most everyone in the media on all levels.

More Petrino: Losing Out On Dollars, But Gaining Texting Skills

There's a lot to be said for the words "with cause..."

It means that Bobby Petrino is out of $18-million and will get nothing...
Here's the early word from Fort Smith on that big miss...

Petrino can appeal to the Board of Regents if he so chooses...

Through a Freedom of Information act request, the cell phone records for Petrino were exhumed.

The first question the HQ has is: What would make Petrino think that, much like an arrest report, that anything involving a state employee wouldn't be accessed at all...???

But, shocking no one... here are some highlights...

On April 1st, Petrino and Jessica Dorrell talked for 16 minutes in the earlier in the day before the motorcycle crash with Dorrell aboard. Petrino also had a 22-minute conversation with Dorrell the day following the accident.

The HQ is also aware of Dorrell's cell phone number, but you can find that in other places. And the HQ is also aware of video text messages sent from one party to the other. We'd rather not visualize whch direction said video went...

Petrino's police escort reports on incident: Interesting but not overly relevant

Interesting. And it may, at least for now shoot down the rumors of a hush conspiracy surrounding Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino's motorcycle accident and his blonde passenger Jessica Dorrell.

The Arkansas State Police released a report today from Captain Lance King, Petrino's escort during football season regarding the call he received and his version of the events surrounding Sunday's crash.

In it, King states that he didn't meet up with Petrino and Dorrell until after the accident and they had been transported to a lot near Fayetteville. He also mentions speaking to Dorrell, but didn't know who she was. She described what happened and helped Petrino into King's car and King transported the coach to an area hospital.

To summarize for you; essentially the report exonerates King from any "So-called" conspiracy theories. But...it doesn't explain Petrino's rationale for lying about Dorrell's participation in all of this. It also doesn't get into the part which ultimately will get Petrino in trouble and that is the hiring of Dorrell on his football staff and his admission that she is and/or was his mistress.

We are reasonably sure that Razorback A.D Jeff Long will not fire Petrino over this. Though he arguably could. We've stated before and we will state again, it isn't the accident that is the overriding issue here, its Dorrell and Petrino's admitting that (a) he had an affair with her and (b) she got hired fairly recently on his staff.

We nor does anyone else believe for a minute that Petrino ended his affair with her...then hired her on his staff. And that friends is morally poor and maybe not illegal, but highly unethical.

The bet here is that Petrino will sit out the 1st two games of the 2012 season. And no the issue won't go away, you can bet the farm that every recruiter in the SEC will use Petrino's lack of "Truthiness" against him while on the recruiting trail.

Haha! The botched coverup of Bobby Petrino's motorcycle accident and mistress continues to deepen.

A report today by KARK-TV says that contrary to Petrino's original story, the 1st person called to the scene of his "accident" was State Police Captain Lance King...who, just so-happens to be Petrino's escort to and from games.

And if you read closely, it appears King may have actually driven Petrino's mistress, 25-year-old Jessica Dorrell from the scene to her car...before taking "Coach" to the hospital. That is emphasized in the part saying that "an officer arriving on the scene, found nobody there". Oh, and we might add, it definitely wasn't Petrino who called 911.

This just keeps getting worse. Or better if you are like many outside the state of Arkansas who have little, if any love for Petrino.

The impression that one gets here is he (Petrino) knew full well what might happen if Dorrell was discovered and he tried the only way he knew how...to cover it up.

In anyplace outside the SEC, the sequence of events, and more importantly, the lame attempt at a cover-up would get him fired.

We think Arkansas A.D Jeff Long will try to draw his "Investigation" out as long as he can, which given the unfolding events, may not take very long. Long, we believe will suspend Petrino, for 2 games and try to move on.

But the damage is now done. The accident is almost secondary here. It's more about the lies. The lie Petrino made about his apparent mistress and the attempt at covering it up. And then the appearance that he found her a job on his "Staff".

Yeah, we said it.

This is just a quckly falling house of cards. Petrino is quickly losing any credibility that he has with potential recruits. Think about it. What family is going to trust their child to him? How can they believe anything the man says?

Short of a TV News video story, we can think of nothing else more appropriate here:

Hmmm....Bobby Petrino not telling the truth about something. When has that ever happened?

It appears that Sunday's motorcycle crash involving the Arkansas head football coach was not a "Single-Person" crash. According to the incident report released by the Arkansas State Police, it appears Mr. Petrino had a passenger...despite his family statement saying otherwise.

That passenger was 25-year old Jessica Dorrell, a student-athlete development coordinator for the football team and a former Razorback volleyball player.

Dorrell apparently wasn't hurt in the crash and according to the report, was the person who flagged down someone to call for help.

Interesting.

There is no implication of anything other than an "Innocent" motorcycle ride here, but it is going to raise an awful lot of questions.

The first being why the Petrino Family and the University released a "statement" saying the coach was by himself. We aren't shocked by this, having briefly dealt with Petrino in Atlanta, we were fully aware that he has a rather "Wide" definition of what he believes...or wants "You" to believe is true.

And while nobody is reporting that there is anything more to it than that, take a look at Dorrell's picture. Do you not think there are going to be some lines people are going to draw here? And to be totally honest, if they do, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

2330 UPDATE: The school, and specifically AD Jeff Long, has put Petrino on administrative leave pending the end of an investigation.

Petrino released a statement through the university:

"The state police report today provides an accurate description of my accident, which includes details that had not publically come to light prior to the report being issued. I regret that I have not publically acknowledged a passenger on the vehicle. I have been in constant pain, medicated and the circumstances involving the wreck have come out in bits and pieces. That said I certainly had a concern about Jessica Dorrell's name being revealed.

"In my press conference, I referred to her simply as 'a lady.' My concern was to protect my family and a previous inappropriate relationship from becoming public. In hindsight, I showed a serious mistake in judgment when I chose not to be more specific about those details. Today, I've acknowledged this previous inappropriate relationship with my family and those within the athletic department administration.

"I apologize to my wife, Becky, and our four children, Chancellor (David) Gearhart, Jeff Long, the Board of Trustees, University administration, my coaching staff, student-athletes and the entire state of Arkansas. I have been humbled by the outpouring of concern and get-well wishes.

"I apologize to the Razorback Nation for the attention my actions have brought to the University of Arkansas and our program. I will fully cooperate with the University throughout this process and my hope is to repair my relationships with my family, my Athletic Director, the Razorback Nation and remain the head coach of the Razorbacks."

MIDNIGHT UPDATE: Looking at Petrino's Memorandum of Understanding from the time he was hired (thanks to the arkansastimes website), his "for cause" firing offenses include "engaging in conduct... clearly contrary to the character and responsibilities of a person occupying the position of head football coach or which negatively or adversely effects the University or UAF's Athletics program in any way."

Dan Wolken at the Memphis Commercial Appeal, through his Twitter feed, looks at the university's staff handbook- Section 3.6

Consensual sexual relationships between faculty and their students or between supervisors and their employees in some instances may result in charges of sexual harassment.

Consensual relationships may lead other faculty and students or supervisors and coworkers to question the validity of grades, evaluations, and other interactions between the people involved in such a relationship. The integrity of the work of both people in the relationship may be compromised.
