Does UK Really Care That They Lost...

((HT: WTVQ-TV))

Apparently, not...

As you see with their appearance in the NIT, they are one and done...
Here's what happened in the 3,500 seat barn at Robert Morris...

It will be interesting to see how many kids will hang around- outside of Nerlens Noel- will go NBA or not...

How many of you had this happening in your NIT pool...???
That's what the HQ thought...

BUZZER BEATER (NIT Style): Pointer's Shot Lifts Johnnies Over Joey's

Who says you can't get motivated to play an NIT game.  St. John's and St. Joesph's played a great college basketball game in Philadelphia Tuesday night.

The game came down to one last shot by Sir'Dominic Pointer of St. John's.

"I've never hit a shot like that in college," Pointer said "It just felt good and to celebrate it with my teammates felt even better."

Pointer finished with 15 points for the Red Storm who advance to the NIT second round to face Virginia.

Hoops Carousel: Northwestern Fires Carmody

((ht: chicagotribune.com))

Modest success will only get you so far.

That's why Northwestern decided Saturday morning to part ways with head coach Bill Carmody on the heels of a 13-19 season and a 1st round departure from the Big 10 Tourney.

Northwestern has never had much success in basketball and many call their facilities the "Worst in the Conference". That is evident as Carmody went 192-210 in 13 seasons though he did get the team in the NIT a couple of times.

Read more from the Chicago Tribune RIGHT HERE

The list of replacements is already floating and according to the Trib include Duke assistant Chris Collins, Valparasio's Bryce Drew and Northern Iowa's Ben Jacobson.

Interesting names all, but all are considered "Up and Comers". The obvious question would be "Why take a no-win job" like Northwestern.

Old Dominion player arrested right before tipoff

Talk about a crappy way to finish your college basketball career.

Old Dominion University's best basketball player, Kent Bazemore was arrested Wednesday night just before tipoff of his teams NIT game vs. Mercer.

According to WAVY-TV in Norfolk, Virginia, Bazemore was arrested for not completing the terms of his sentence for a DUI charge in 2011. It just so happened that the arrest took place in Virginia Beach.

After it was found Bazemore didn't attend the classes he was required to attend, an arrest warrant was issued and right after warmups Wednesday night, Mr. Bazemore was escorted from the court, directly to jail, where he was later released.

Uh...lesson here.

And it is a pretty simple one, so we won't preach so much. If you are arrested and sentenced to something, it doesn't matter who you are...especially if you participate in something public like...oh...say...a college or professional sport, eventually you'll pay the price. If you are sentenced to do something, chances are it is because you did something wrong...and just because you are a college or professional athlete doesn't excuse you from serving out that sentence.

Unless you are rich and have a really good lawyer.
