It Was Ice Rays vs. Ice Rays, But Not On Purpose...

((HT: Puck Daddy))

This is what happens when you forget one thing on a road trip...

Like...packing...

The Rio Grande Killer Bees played the Corpus Christi Ice Rays in Corpus Christi last night...
But the equipment manager, who may or may not still have his job for got to bring the visiting sweaters for the game.
So...what to do...???
Just wear the visiting sweaters for the Ice Rays, instead...

It's confusing for the official scorers, for sure, but what choice was there...???
Here's proof...

"It Was A Clean Hit..." Yells PBP Guy Over And Over

((HT: NAHL, CBSSports.com/Gretz))

Adam Gretz shipped this story out to the masses, and the HQ could not help but re-send...

The HQ goes to the North American Hockey League... it's what the folks north of us would call "juniors..."

The Bismarck Bobcats beat the Austin Bruins in overtime, 4-3 last weekend...

But the hit below by Austin's Brandon Wahlin caused a bit of a stir...and a five-minute major for him...

Bismarck scored two goals in the final three minutes to tie the game, then scored the winner on the same power play less than two minutes into overtime...

The play-by-play guy for Austin, James Lilledahl, disagreed...
We think...

Here's the video...
And the HQ thinks the announcer thinks that it's a clean hit...

It's not something along the lines of Russ Hodges or Skip Caray...
Not...
Even...
Close...

And it was really... really... overmodulated...

Junior Coach Shows Refs How Blind They Are...

((HT: SB Nation))

There have been protests and there have been protests...

And this is a pretty good protest...

Wenatchee Wild (NAHL) assistant coach Chris Clark, as one of his guys got a 7-minute penalty (a 2 plus a 5) after the goal that put Wenatchee down 2-1 in the third, went nuts...

The HQ has no doubt that Clark will get severely suspended and fined... probably more than his actual salary. And he'll be known this side of Phillip Wellman as one of the wilder protests out there...
