ICYMI: Kolten Wong With The Walk Off NLCS Winner

((ht: mlb.com))

Okay, so we work late these days and are just getting up and able to post stories. And this was probably the best story of Sunday night.

The St. Louis Cardinals tied the San Francisco Giants at one game apiece in the National League Championship series late Sunday night courtesy of a walk-off home run.

Kolten Wong was the hero when he led off the bottom of the ninth in a 4-4 tie game and deposited a pitch from Giants closer Sergio Romo over the right field wall.

Bedlam ensued at Busch....

And somehow during all the celebrating, it appears Wong's jersey got torn in half....

Pujols Walkoff Ends 19-Inning Red Sox vs. Angels Baseball Marathon

Six hours and thirty one minutes after it started, Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols finally put an end to it.

On the 558th pitch of the Boston Red Sox/Angels game, Pujols hit a walk-off home run to send everyone in Anaheim, CA home happy.

Well, okay, at least the Angels fans.

Though we should mention while it technically ended the game, the marathon didn't end until the replay challenge by Boston manager John Farrell was squashed. Farrell claimed the ball was interfered with by a fan. But you can pretty clearly see it bounced off the top of the right centerfield wall.

For those of us on the East Coast, the game ended some time after 3 a.m...

Walk Off Winner: A's Donaldson Hits 3-Run HR For the Win and Gets Pied

Oh, those wacky Major League Baseball players....

And if you are the Oakland A's, well, there's lots to celebrate. The A's hit the All-Star break with the best record in baseball and had a ton of guys play in the All-Star game.

Including 3B Josh Donaldson, who got the proverbial 2nd half of the season off to a rousing start.

Donaldson smacked a first pitch, bottom of the 9th inning, 3 run homer off Zach Britton to give the A's a comeback 5-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

The shot to dead centerfield set off the fireworks and celebrations all through the Oakland area....
But what followed during the post game interview with CSN Bay Area might have been better....

ICYMI: Starling Marte with the Sterling Walk-Off HR

Boom goes the dynamite...and the fireworks lighting up the Pittsburgh sky Friday night.

The Pittsburgh Pirates get a walk-off solo home run from Starling Marte to take down the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 in a crazy finish.

The Jays led 5-3 going into the bottom of the 9th. But closer Sergio Santos gave up a 2-run homer to Pedro Alvarez to tie the game.

That's when Marte finished it...(Highlight from MLB.com)

Ole Miss Hits Walk Off HR on Intentional Walk Pitch

Yeah, we know, the headline for this story doesn't make much sense, but how do you explain something so bizarre?

Ole Miss beat Auburn 7-5 in a 13 inning SEC Baseball game. And they won on a walk-off Home Run.

The reason that homer is noteworthy?

Auburn's pitcher was trying to intentionally walk Ole Miss slugger Austin Anderson with a runner already on second, to set up at double play.

However ball one was a little too close to the middle of the plate. Anderson swung, the ball disappeared into the night and the Rebels began celebrating one heck of an unlikely win...

Your highlight of the day starts at about the 3:30 mark in this video from Ole Miss Sports:

Tampa Bay took a win-or-go-home game for the fourth time in nine days.

ICYMI: Walkoff Weekend: Baseball Game-Winning Fun on Friday

Say what you will about baseball being boring, slow, dull or whatever, but nothing gets the heart of a baseball and good sports fan racing more than a walk-off hit.

And Friday night, there were some good ones.

Justin Upton of the Atlanta Braves with perhaps the most dramatic, a 10th inning line drive, that cleared the fence and set of chaos in the A-T-L:

Jose Lobaton of the Tampa Bay Rays with the 9th inning triple breaking a 4-4 tie with Toronto:

And Jonathan Lucroy of the Milwaukee Brewers with the 2-strike, 2-out, 2-run game-winning HR off the supposedly unhittable Aroldis Chapman of the Cincinnati Reds:
