Good-Bye To Butler's Blue II
Blue II became a bit of a cult figure to those who only found Butler athletics through their basketball runs in March and April. But the bulldog had been in poor health (as bulldogs do as they get late in life...) and he passed at the age of nine...
Butler University paid him an awesome tribute...
That's my boy, Blue...

La Tech Mascot Died Of Heat Stroke, Death Covered Up...
((HT: KNOE-TV/El Dorado AR, Monroe LA))
Tech XX, the bulldog mascot for Louisiana Tech, had been missing since Sunday in or around Ruston, Louisiana.
But, now we know what happened in the disappearance...
A worker at the Sexton Animal Health Center left XX out too long in the heat and the dog died of heat stroke. The worker has, obviously, been fired for the negligent behavior.
Here's the Sunday night story from Louisiana when XX came up missing...

The school released a statement:
"Louisiana Tech University was saddened to learn of Tech XX's passing this past Sunday evening. He will be remembered for being a fan favorite and a symbol of the spirit of Louisiana Tech.
"Since becoming our official mascot in 2008, Tech XX received superior care and a loving home from Dr. Patrick Sexton and, despite the unfortunate circumstances of the past few days, we are grateful for all he and his family have done for our beloved mascot.
"Tech XX was a cherished member of the Louisiana Tech Family and, together, we will all grieve his passing."
And Sexton released a statement as well that said in part:
"My family, my staff and I are extremely upset at this tragic turn of events as I know the entire Louisiana Tech Family is as well," Sexton added. "Tech XX was a member of our immediate family and a daily part of our lives for the past four years.
"We are devastated over the circumstances of his passing and there will be a large void in our hearts for some time to come. As with any family member, we will spend considerable time grieving his passing."
