Wait... You Were Leading, But You Still Lost...???

((HT: KREX-TV))

Jack McDowell's Ogden Raptors were in Grand Junction to play the Rockies and the game was all Raptors- even through the rain drops.

But, in McDowell's mind, the field was getting unplayable and he was ready to take his team off to wait out any kind of rain delay. Problem was, at some point, if McDowell didn't put his team back on the field, they were going to forfeit.

No one broke that news to McDowell and it ended up being a forfeit and a 9-0 win for Grand Junction.
McDowell is less than pleased about that and is planning on contacting the league office about the result awarded by the umps.

Here's the highlights until the time of the forfeit

Giants Protesting Rain Shortened Game After Groundscrew Snafu

((HT: MLB.com))

Giants manager Bruce Bochy is challenging the result from last night when the Cubs were awarded a rain-shortened win over San Francisco.

Here's what happened that caused the delay and the shenanigans

But, from MLB.com, here's why the game was called and not suspended:

Had the Giants led at the time of delay, the contest would have been postponed by virtue of MLB Rule 4.10, which states the game is complete if the home team is ahead through five trips to the plate by the visitors -- the case Tuesday.

The game couldn't be suspended through Rule 4.12(a)(3) for a field malfunction either, as the tarp was hauled manually.

The Giants are now 4 1/2 games out of first in the NL West and into a tie for the final Wild Card spot with the Braves, who have won five straight.

So, sometimes, you stumble across funny stuff to use at the end- or to kill time when a story pans differently than you expect...

Like rain delays at high school baseball games...

We'll let Chris explain...

Never let it be said that Mr. Murray is an absentee owner. Check out this video of Carl Spackler himself entertaining his paying ticket holders the other night during a rain delay.
