Your New KHL Head Coach Nutty

((HT: KHL their own selves))

The HQ remembers Andrei Nazarov in his playing days as an enforcer, and he seems to have taken that approach to his time behind the bench for Barys Astana in the KHL.

A "too many men" penalty has resulted in one of these outsbursts

To be honest, the arm swing reminds us more of this... at the 4:11 mark

Your First KHL Nutty Of The Season

((HT: KHL their own selves))

HC Ugra goalie Mikhail Biryukov looked like he was standing on his head to keep his team in the game against CSKA Moscow in the third period the other day. But his team eventually lost 4-3 and Biryukov lost it on his own...

The HQ's favorite part is the difficulty that he had in trying to snap his stick after the final buzzer...

Another Minor League Manager Nutty

((HT: MiLB.com))

This was not the time to get an ejection... top nine in a tie game at home.
But it happened and Winston-Salem manager Tommy Thompson made it count.

He leaves his shoes and cap on home plate after being ejected in the eventual loss to Carolina
Evidence below...

Myrtle Beach Manager Throws Epic, Disrobing Nutty

((HT: MiLB.com))

The HQ likes what Joe Mikulik can do from time to time when he's bent out of shape...
Yesterday, was no different...

The call went against his Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Mikulik disagreed, and all hell broke loose...

Kenny Powers would have been proud of his fellow Myrtle Beacher...

Robin Ventura Throws A Nutty, Hawk Is Right There With Him

((HT: MLB.com))

This whole home plate-blocking thing is getting out of hand...

And the manager's challenge was, by the letter of the law, a great idea- even if the rule is silly...

The White Sox had a lead until this play last night in San Francisco

It's just not baseball

And the HQ agrees with Hawk on this one...

Mike Redmond Throws A Nutty, Play-By-Play Agrees

((HT: MLB.com))

The land of instant replay has been a bit of a minefield this season...

But when things go wrong and they're not corrected, managers have an opportunity to express themselves appropriately
Like Marlins manager Mike Redmond did last night.

Awful Announcing led us to the play-by-play call of Rich Walz and Tommy Hutton- the latter of whom went nuts

Redmond got the chance to talk about his undressing last night for a really fun presser after the game...

Torts Fired In Vancouver After One Year

((HT: Sportsnet))

Surprising no one, really, John Tortorella was fired after one year coaching in Vancouver...

But the "Hockey Central" guys think that one night against the Flames may have done the deal...

And the HQ would agree...
It's all on Trevor Linden now...

Mike Keenan Goes All Mike Keenan On KHL Officials

((HT: Sport1))

Keenan took over the Metallurg Magnitogorsk squad in the KHL this season and is one win away from getting a title by beating Lev Praha... the series was 3-2 and Game 6 was in overtime when Keenan went all off on officials when the game was over...

Here's the overtime period...and the nutty is around the 12:30 mark...

What Keenan was so hot about was the non-call behind the Lev goal where it looks like one of his own was pinned down and not allowed to get up and get back in the play. It created a man-advantage and, eventually, the goal that created a Game 7...

"If you're going to call it, call it," Keenan said before his string of imperatives at the men in the zebra shirts...

No truth to the rumor that Game 7 is what President Putin wanted in the first place...

OSG Prem: Tim Sherwood Is Pee-Yissed...

((HT: BPL/Vine via David Guti))

Tomas Rosicky scored in the second minute in the North London Derby between Arsenal and Spurs this afternoon...

A defensive meltdown almost led to a second goal, but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain decided to pass (poorly, the HQ may add) to Lucas Podolski that led to a turnover...

Spurs caretaker manager Tim Sherwood went understandably ape over the gaps in defense...

Maybe he should keep being fiery...
Makes for good storylines...

Kypreos: Tort's Behavior "Disgraceful..."

((HT: Sportsnet))

Vancouver Canucks head coach John Tortorella has no regrets over his epic nutty the other night against Calgary and head coach Bob Hartley...

Even telling Hartley, who didn't engage him in the bench discussion, that "you don't fight that way..."

Sportnet's Nick Kypreos was less than enthused over Tort's behavior...

Canucks-Flames Line Dance: The After...

((HT: TSN/NHL))

Well, conventional wisdom is that Canucks coach John Tortorella is going to get some kind of suspension for the outbursts last night...

Here's what he said about why he did what he did...
((HT: Canucks TV))

And from inside his locker room...
((HT: Canucks TV))

And from Calgary head coach Bob Hartley...
((HT: Flames TV))

There actually was a game played...
Vancouver won in a shootout, 3-2...
Now, all we need to know is how long the suspensions will be for this classic...

OSG Prem: Newcastle's Alan Pardew Goes Off

((HT: BPL/Sky Sports))

Manchester City took to the top of the table again today in their win over Newcastle, but not without a little...

Well, okay... a lot... of controversy...

Edin Dzeko got City on the board first, but it looked like Newcastle got an equalizer...
Only the officials didn't see it that way...
Check Tiote's goal was disallowed by an offsides

Which caused Newscastle manager Alan Pardew to explode at the half...

And, eventually, get into it with City manager Manuel Pellgrini where Pardew called him an "effing old" something-or-other

But, after the game, Pellegrini had no issues with Pardew

And Tiote was still with questions...

McCaffrey Apologizes For Epic Nutty

((HT: ESPN/Katz))

Let's start by showing you what went down in the loss to Wisconsin...

He officially apologized and AD Gary Barta came out with a prepared statement...

"I've met with Coach McCaffery regarding last night's ejection from the game in Madison. He knows he crossed a line of acceptable behavior and accepts responsibility for his actions.

"All staff at the University of Iowa fully support the Big Ten Conference's sportsmanship policy's fundamental elements, including civility and respect toward opponents and game officials. Fran has my full support moving forward."

McCaffrey talked to Andy Katz:

"There were a couple of calls there that I had taken exception to and felt like 'I gotta change this thing a little bit.' I got the T. The thing that I regret was getting the second T. I didn't want to get the second T. It was not my intention and it impacted the game in a way that wasn't good for our team.

"Anytime a coach does something like that, you feel horrible about it because you don't ever want to do anything other than to help your team win a game. I felt like we needed a shift -- we needed something to change -- and my intention was to do that but not get the second T. I feel terrible about that."
