BU Hockey Legend Parker To Retire

Legendary Boston University hockey coach Jack Parker will announce his retirement Monday, on his 68th birthday, sources close to the program told ESPN.

Parker, who has coached the Terriers for 40 seasons, has 894 career wins, won three national championships and led Boston to 24 NCAA hockey tournament berths, seven Hockey East titles and 21 Beanpot championships, the annual February tournament featuring Boston University, Boston College, Northeastern and Harvard.

The Terriers are known throughout the hockey world for what Parker has built, but all of that reputation took a big hit when an on-campus report was released detailing a "culture of sexual entitlement" for BU players- including the release of details surrounding a party (and the sexual behavior within) at the BU hockey arena after the team won the 2009 national championship.

One player interviewed said that when girls were drunk the attitude on the team was that “the perception that they need not seek consent for sexual contact.”

Two Boston University players were charged with sexual assault, in different incidents, less than three months apart in 2011. Corey Trivino pleaded guilty in his case.

Boston University finished the 2012-13 regular season with a record of 18-15-2 and will face Merrimack in the quarterfinals of the Hockey East tournament next weekend.

For you hockey fans: BC wins Beanpot...again

It was a battle between the #2 and #3 ranked teams in College Hockey this year. But more importantly, it was a battle in the 60th annual Beanpot game.

And #3 won.

Boston College won their 3rd straight trophy that is supposed to hold Boston Baked Beans in overtime on a goal by center Bill Arnold with only 6.4 seconds to go in the free period. That gave them a 3-2 win over Boston U.

For those of you unfamiliar, the tournament features 4-hockey teams from around the Boston area. Along with Boston College, Boston U, Northeastern and Harvard all participated in the tournament.
