La Liga: Diop Dances To Go After Racist Chants

Levante surprised Atletico Madrid 2-0 in La Liga action as the team came out flat after their Champions League semi this week against Chelsea...

And, as is the fans wont these days, there are some who think the best way to go after their rival players is to do some really stupid, racist chants...

Pape Diop was the Atleti fan's target, but he wouldn't have any of it...
They called the Senegali national a monkey, so he responded to their chant with a dance to draw attention to their idiocy...


Classy...

Marca caught up with Diop afterwards, translated:

"They called me monkey and I turned and imitated a monkey," said midfielder granota whole. "I'm tired of racism in football. And there's a lot."

"I made the monkey dance to play the matter. Wanted people to know what happened," said Diop, whose gesture provoked the anger of the fans and some Atletico players.

"I do not know if it's racist or disrespectful, but they have to finish the screaming monkey made by some," said Levante player, who claimed to have been subjected to racist abuse from the fans of Atletico "throughout the game."

First Dani Alves, now Diop... Hopefully, it sends a message to FIFA. But the HQ doubts it...

First off, this is flat stupid by Atleti fans during their Copa loss to Real Madrid...


Something could have happened that could have seriously injured one of the world's greatest footballers...

"I think the consequences could be serious because it could have hurt a player," Real's keeper, Iker Casillas, told Real's website. "There is always someone who tries to smear the image of a club like Atletico and it doesn’t reflect how the majority of their fans are."

The match ref put the crowning in his post-match report and Atleti could be fined up to €30,000 and have their ground closed for one to three games...

The Copa del Rey semifinals were yesterday in Spain...

Real Madrid had Cristiano Ronaldo before his three-match ban was to kick in during La Liga play, and they had an easy time with Atletico Madrid winning 3-0...

After the match, Real's Marcelo was cooling off on the pitch with his son when the Atletico fans started chanting toward him- claiming that he was a "monkey" and that they "hoped his father died.
