OSG High: 2 Georgia Kids Drafted In The Top 10

The worst kept secret of the 2013 MLB Draft, other than there actually being a draft, was the story that two kids that grew up playing against each other got drafted in the Top 10.

Clint Frazier and Austin Meadows played at Loganville (GA) High and Grayson (GA) High, respectively.

The one game the two schools played against each other this season (since the schools aren't in the same classification) turned into a traffic nightmare and a standing room only crowd that included guys like Cubs GM Theo Epstein.

Mark Appel, the hometown kid for the Houston Astros, went first overall from Stanford University.
Don't be surprised if he's up at the parent club very soon- since they need all the help they can get.

OSG High: The Latest On Nkemdiche

The recruiting world was one of two things on the day that the tweet came out with Grayson (GA) High School's Robert Nkemdiche, Wayne Gallman, and David Kamara all wearing Clemson jerseys...

1) Shocked... or,
2) Figured that the recruiting of Robert Nkemdiche was wide open...

The HQ is thinking the latter... and when it came up that his mother was less than pleased that he had declared without her consent...

The HQ figures that it's going to be one of three things...

He stays because of his head coach, Mickey Conn's, relationship with Dabo Swinney that dates back to Alabama,

He goes to Ole Miss since his brother, Denzel, is there and his mother wants Robert to stay close to or,

He goes to Alabama since it's, well, Alabama...

OSG High BREAKING: Nkemdiche Commits To Clemson

Grayson ((GA)) High School senior DE/RB Robert Nkemdiche has comfirmed to ESPN's Kipp Adams that he has declared to play his football at Clemson University joining close friends RB Wayne Gallman and DB David Kamara.

"I did commit," Nkemdiche said to Adams. "I love Clemson."

Often rated the top defensive player (and, in some circles, the top overall recruit) in the country, here's previous evidence that he enjoyerd the family atmosphere of Clemson and head coach Dabo Swinney-the college roommate of his head coach, Mickey Conn.

Now, this only leaves 8-and-a-half months for Alabama head coach Nick Saban to steal him away like he did a certain RB heading to Georgia the other day.

And people say that football is only seasonal...

Just before the GHSA Championships air on the #GreatGPB, the last title game of them all is the 5A game between nationally-ranked Grayson Rams and the Walton Raiders.

Before a rivalry game with Brookwood, a rap video came out to crystallize some thoughts...

Now, that there's a title game...
There are more thoughts... and the HQ has been told that Walton Raiders head football coach Rocky Hidalgo wants to run through a wall and play right now- not waiting for Saturday night in prime time...

OSG High: Brookwood's Response Requests Stepping Up

Earlier this week, the HQ was promoting Grayson ((GA)) High School's attempt at calling out rival Brookwood for their rivalry game this Friday...

We now have the official response from the Brookwood kids...


The game can be seen tonight on Georgia Public Broadcasting or on the web at gpb.org/sports as part of the "Football Fridays in Georgia" package...

The HQ is well aware how big high school football is here in the state of Georgia- regarded as one of the top five states for talent in the country.

The state has anywhere from five to ten teams ranked in top 50 to top 100 rankings currently, and one of those teams has a big matchup in a week and a half...

The Grayson Rams, with one of the top defensive talents in the Class of 2013 in Robert Nkemdiche, gets their main rival and defending Class 5A champ Brookwood on the 28th...

So, Grayson students took it upon themselves to send the first shot...

The HQ doesn't know if this well-produced video is considered poking the bear, but we'll find out soon enough...
