D'Oh! Why You Shouldn't Wear Heels on Ice (Video)

Hate it when this happens, but damn it is funny...

Check out the background of this TV News live shot from KNBC reporter Mario Solis after the LA Kings beat the NY Rangers to win the Stanley Cup Trophy.

Watch the woman walking from screen right towards screen left.

Doh! Faceplant.

Someone did come to check on her, and she did get up quickly with the "I'm ok!" "Nothing to see here" look....

But it's still funny...

Game Sevens Times Three Finish Round 1

((HT: NHL/NBCSN/CNBC))

It's what this time of year is all about... other than the tanning and vacations...

Game Sevens make late night viewing all good...

And the NHL last night had three Game Sevens to close out the first round...

First stop was New York City for the Rangers and Flyers...
And when the fourth line is contributing (see: Dan Carcillo), it's going to be a good night for you. But, these days, Carcillo is in Ranger Blue and not Flyers orange...

Game Two went for a while...

Because there's only one thing better than a Game Seven...
It's a Game Seven that goes to overtime. Minnesota escapes the first round since 2000 with an overtime win at Colorado. Avs head coach Patrick Roy was pleased with his team's efforts this season. But he was obviously, disappointed with the premature finish of the season...

The larger question for Minnesota in Round Two is the status of Wild goalie Darcy Kuemper- who had to leave the game in the third period, yielding to Ilya Bryzgalov. Bryz made one save for the rest of the game, but that's all that needed to be made as the Wild take on Chicago...

The late game, probably, is the end of the lifespan of Todd McLellan in San Jose. The Sharks had a 3-0 lead in the series against Los Angeles. But the Kings rediscovered their defense in and around goalie Jonathan Quick and became the fourth team in the history if the NHL playoffs to come back from a 3-0 series deficit to win a series, 5-1 in Game 7...

That sets up Chicago and Minnesota and the Freezeway Series between LA and Anaheim...

In Case You Missed It: Devils bedevil Kings to stay alive

There will be no sweep in the Stanley Cup Finals.

That's because the New Jersey Devils summoned up enough to take down the LA Kings, in Los Angeles, 3-1 late Wednesday night. The 3 goals, were more than the Devils had been able to score the previous 3 games...combined.

Patrick Elias, Adam Henrique and Ilya Kovalchuk all put the biscuit in the basket in the 3rd period and it was more than enough to overcome the single Kings goal by Drew Doughty. Both goalies stopped 21 shots as offense has been tough to find throughout the series.

Already, the "Experts" on the morning sports shows are saying the Devils can still come back and win the series, but it would take an effort of monumental proportions. Teams just don't give up 3-0 series leads and we'd be shocked if the Kings did that.

But at least New Jersey got a win and made things competitive, at least for another night.

Game 5 is Saturday night in New Jersey.

And the Sports screw ups continue: KNBC with the wrong Gagne

Courtesy: theroyalhalf/twitter
The end of Local TV Sports as we know it is quickly reaching its Nadir.

The sheer amount of royal screw ups by News people trying to do Sports because TV News Departments have all but eliminated local sports is mind boggling.

We showed an example earlier today.

Here's another. It comes from KNBC in Los Angeles. And though its not video, it is a box shot for a story that is supposed to be about the return of LA Kings forward Simon Gagne for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Only some genius at KNBC called up a picture of ERIC Gagne, the former relief pitcher for the Dodgers.

Sigh....

We'll spare you the lengthy rant about why Local TV slowly is drifting towards irrelevance. But this should give you a good idea why.

In Case You Missed It: Kings crown NJ take 1-0 Cup Lead

Game 1 went to overtime and the game winner was scored by a  center just trying to keep his team in the game.

Anze Kopitar found himself with the puck after a pass from Justin Williams and nothing but clear ice and New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur.

Kopitar deked Broudeur and put the biscuit in the basket giving his L.A Kings a 2-1 overtime win and a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven Stanley Cup Finals.

The battle, which featured the #8 seed in the West and the #6 seed in the East was a physical, slow paced affair that didn't feature a whole lot of shooting. Brodeur had 23 saves, but one go in early in the 1st and failed to stop Kopitar on the breakaway.

Kings goalie Jonathan Quick stopped 17 shots and gave his team the advantage because game 1 was played in New Jersey.

Game 2 is Saturday in New Jersey
