In regulation, anyway...
The Chicago Blackhawks non-losing in regulation streak is now at 19...
How many of us had that one at the beginning of the year...???
But, the HQ is fairly certain that at least one friendly wager in some sports
book somewhere had the overtime win...
And this time, it was Marian Hossa for the game-winner...
Evidence below...
((HT: CSN Chicago/NHL))
16-0-3...
Who knew...???
The larger question will come when we hit the post-season to figure out if the hot start was only that and leads to one of those Seattle Mariners-like first-round fails...

Did The Code Actually Work For A Change...???
((HT: CSNChicago))
As discussed on the "Nooner with the Big E" on NextSportStar TV yesterday, the Blackhawks and Coyotes were squaring off for the first time since Raffi Torres practically decapitated Marian Hossa...
Remember...???
((HT: NHL on NBC))
Here's the fallout and the retribution...
And the reaction by the Hawks teammates was understandable...
“I realize what my job is at this point,” Mayers said. “It still doesn’t excuse what happened, but I give (Torres) credit: he was willing to go.”
But the larger question is: Did the code work to put an end to the situation with the two teams...
Only Torres will have the answer for this as we go forward and as the two teams go forward against each other...
The HQ hopes so for the sake of that element of the game...

BREAKING: Raffi Torres Gets 25 Games
This can be taken one of two ways...
Brendan Shanahan's inequality of doling out punishment continues or Torres got what he deserved and the team is without a player since their competition is without one of the most complete players in the game today...
Your reminder of what brought us here...
((HT: NHL on NBC))
Torres' 25 games will carry over into the next regular season if the Coyotes playoffs from 2012 don't add up to the 25-game number. He also won't be allowed in any pre-season games at the beginning of the 2012-2013 year...
Here's the statement from Shanahan in full:
"This is a violation of three NHL rules – interference, charging and illegal check to the head."
"In addition to the fact that three separate NHL rules were violated with this one hit, two other factors were critical in determining the appropriate length of suspension:
"First, this violent and dangerous hit caused a severe injury.
"Second, Torres not only is a repeat offender as defined by the CBA, his extensive Supplemental Discipline history consists mainly of acts very similar to this one – including two this season."
"Despite knowing that Hossa no longer has the puck, Torres decides to finish his check past the amount of time when Hossa is eligible to be bodychecked. That is a violation of the Interference rule."
"While we acknowledge the circumstances of certain hits may cause a player's skates to come off the ice, on this hit, Torres launches himself into the air before making contact. This is a violation of the Charging rule."
"The position of Hossa's head does not change just prior to or simultaneous with this hit. The onus, therefore, is on Torres not to make it the principal point of contact. By leaping, Torres makes Hossa's head the principal point of contact. That is a violation of the Illegal Check to the Head rule."

Violent NHL Playoffs: A Taiwanese animated take
((ht: puckdaddy))
This is funny, but really, really wrong.
NMA.tv, the Taiwanese group that produces animated videos essentially mocking things sport and others...are now taking on the NHL.
You've all read about the spate of violence running through this years NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, from Aaron Asham to Raffi Torres and others, there have been suspensions, injuries and games that just flat out turned to fights (see: pittsburgh vs. philly)
With that in mind, the folks from Taiwan give their interpretation of the violence mocking it (as it should be)
**Note**--It's kinda bloody in an animated way

Q-Stache Gets Fined
For this outburst... and comments he made after the game was over...
((HT: NHL/Fred Murtz/NBCSN))
When Q was asked if he thought he was going to be fined, Quenneville said he didn't think so.
"I was just answering a question," he said.
He got fined $10-grand...
The money will go to the NHL Foundation...
Raffi Torres is still out pending his Friday meeting and Marian Hossa is out for Game 4- at the least... and the HQ thinks the Q-Stache is still pissed...

If Aaron Asham got four games for his activity, then the Phoenix Coyotes Raffi Torres needs to be gone for a lot longer after this bush league crap from Tuesday's game
Here's the short version...
And the long version from FredMurtz and CNBC
Hossa was taken to Northwestern Medical Center, was released, and did not talk to a reporter as he left.
More when we know more...
