OSG High: St John Bosco Snaps De La Salle Win Streak

((HT: Gazette Sports))

At 40 straight...

A record crowd of 16,791 at StubHub Center saw a piece of history...

St. John Bosco (Bellflower, California) followed up their first CIF-Southern Section championship by beating De La Salle, 20-14, to win the Open Division of CIF State Football...

Josh Rosen threw for 200 yards and 2 TD's as De La Salle ends their consecutive title run at 4. St. John Bosco finishes 16-0, one of only 11 teams nationwide with a 16-0 record. De La Salle finishes 14-1 and it was the first time since 2008 that the Spartans lost to a team from the state of California.

Here's the highlights...

Waffle Ball: The Story Of A Win Streak...???

((HT: Meganniager))

Simply put, the Braves haven't lost a game since the introduction of a Waffle House at Turner Field...

Make the conclusion you will...
But it's now been put to song...

Safe to say, the Braves are leaving a lot of teams scattered, smothered, and covered these days...

Okay, How About 24...???

((HT: NBCSN/NHL))

Okay...

Who among us had Dan Carcillo in the pool for the game-winner...???

That's what the HQ thought...

In a night where, seemingly, the Chicago Blackhawks were on their heels against Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov, it took two goals in the third period to get the 3-2 win. Carcillo's goal happened with less than a minute to go in regulation and the streak reaches 24/30...

The Flyers are still five away and questions remain as to whether or not the Hawks will get past the half-way point of the season (think about that for a second...we're at the half-way point in the season and the team HASN'T LOST IN REGULATION) without a loss with injuries to Hossa, Shaw (last night), and Sharp (last night)...

But until then...
Enjoy...
And, since it's Doc Emrick, the HQ knows you will...
Cue "Chelsea Dagger..."

Okay... How About 23 For The Blackhawks...???

((HT: NHL.com))

The Blackhawks 10th win in a row now puts their points streak at 23 games in a row with a 5-3 win over Minnesota...

It seems that Devin Setoguchi's first period goal got the Hawks good and mad as they came back with four of their own to close out the frame- Saad, two from Bickell, and Marian Hossa...

The Blackhawks eclipse the previous mark of nine consecutive victories, set in December 2008, and if you add last year's 3-0-3 finish, they have recorded at least a point in 29 straight games. The 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers had 35 straight games with at least a point.

Here's the highlights...

Hawks Make It 22 With SO Win

((HT: NHL on NBC))

It always takes a different guy to make sure your team makes a run to a title...

Sometimes, it's a star... sometimes it's a guy off the end of the bench, sometimes it's someone who just showed up for a key moment when everyone thought all hope was lost...

This time for the Chicago Blackhawks, it was the first one...

Patrick Kane made it happen in the third so the team could go 19-0-3 to start the 2013 NHL season after taking out Detroit in the shootout...

Evidence below...

Now we wait...
Again...

Blackjack: Hawks Unbeaten Streak At 21

((HT: CSNChicago))

It's the streak that will not die...

Even if the Columbus Blue Jackets had anything to do with it...

CBJ took the Blackhawks to free hockey before dropping a 4-3 decision- and all that does is take the unbeaten streak (or the mother of all unbeaten streaks) to 21 at 18-0-3...

And, now Hawks fans can thank Brent Seabrook at the end of the highlights package...

Ray Emery is now 9-0-0 in his season for CHI in his spelling of Corey Crawford...

So, When Do The Hawks Stop Not-Losing...?

In regulation, anyway...

The Chicago Blackhawks non-losing in regulation streak is now at 19...

How many of us had that one at the beginning of the year...???

But, the HQ is fairly certain that at least one friendly wager in some sports
book somewhere had the overtime win...

And this time, it was Marian Hossa for the game-winner...

Evidence below...
((HT: CSN Chicago/NHL))

16-0-3...
Who knew...???

The larger question will come when we hit the post-season to figure out if the hot start was only that and leads to one of those Seattle Mariners-like first-round fails...

Cyclones End Nations Longest Winning Streak, Own State Of Texas Too.

The Iowa State Cyclones do not dread going to Texas, they love it.  Success is guaranteed the last three years.
In 2010 the Cyclones defeated the 22nf ranked Texas 28-21 and last season Iowa State beat down  then #19 Texas Tech in Lubbock 41-7.
The Cyclone magic in the Lone Star State remained as Iowa State went to Ft. Worth and ended TCU’s nations best 12 game winning streak with a 37-23.
Here’s the highlights. (Thanks CyclonesTV)

Iowa State is now 4-1 for the first time in 10 years.
Here’s head coach Paul Rhodes after the game.

College Football's Active Winning Streak Snapped, UW-Whitewater 46 Game Win Streak Stopped By Buffalo State 7-6

College football’s longest active winning streak came to an end on Saturday.  The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, a NCAA Division III school, had won 46 straight games.
The Buffalo State Bengals put a stop to that streak in dramatic fashion.  Down 6-0 to UW-Whitewater the Bengals started their final drive with 1:35 left in the fourth quarter.
Later in the drive the Bengals were facing 4th and 19 with 48 seconds remaining and needed a miracle. Buff. State went into their bag of tricks, the hook and ladder, and the miracle was granted.
Here’s the 4th and 19 play. (Thanks BengalsAthletics)

That’s Buffalo State quarterback Casey Kacz connecting with Ryan Carney, to Rich Pete, then to Brooks Estarfaa for a 34 yard gain keep the Bengals alive.
With three seconds left in the game Casey Kacz found Ryan Carney again for a 10 yard touchdown and with the extra point won it for Buff. State.

Here’s the Bengal touchdown. (Thanks UW-Whitewater)
