Shhh...quiet. Don't tell Texas Christian they aren't playing in the College Bowl Playoff this year. If their Peach Bowl game performance is an indicator...they may be in said playoff next year.
TCU ran out to a 28-0 halftime lead and coasted to a 42-3 rout of alleged SEC West power Ole Miss. And really, the game wasn't that close.
Ole Miss could scratch out only 129 yards of total offense including a total of 9 yards running the ball. Rebel QB Bo Wallace wasn't much better throwing for 109 yards and 3 interceptions.
As for the Horned Frogs, 3 TD passes by Trevonne Boykin were more than enough as TCU finishes the season 12-1. Ole Miss finished 9-4.

College Football Playoff Choices: The Most Popular Four Get Picked
Oh boy, the College Football crazies are going to be doing them some arguing today (Sunday).
The College Football Playoff committee announced the four teams that will be competing for the National Championship.
None of those four teams will come out of the Big 12.
Alabama, Oregon, Florida State and Ohio State will play a game January 1st in different locations to determine who will get a shot at the title a week later.
The surprise is Ohio State, 6th in the playoff rankings and most polls going into Championship Weekend, the Buckeyes leapfrogged both TCU and Baylor, who were ranked above them.
Playoff Committee chair Jeff Long cited a few reasons for this; among them Co-Champs in the Big 12 and Ohio States domination of a probably overrated Wisconsin in the Big 10 title game. Long was adamant that it was about what Ohio State did this week, not about what TCU or Baylor did.
We'd argue Kansas State would beat Wisconsin.
Long spoke at length about "Strength of Schedule", though we'd prefer to call it "Higher Publicity" or "Larger Traditions"...but we aren't on the committee.
The state of Texas is likely to get a bit angry about this and they've got a good argument. In OUR opinion, Ohio State winning "Big 10" games is not the same as TCU or Baylor winning "Big 12" games.
The Big 10 is much better known and represented, but the football...outside the Buckeyes, was abysmal or any other overrated adjective you can think of.
In the long run, no, it really doesn't matter what we think. College Football has never been a game that settled arguments on the field and is not set up to determine a true best team.

That's the question all over the state of Texas Sunday morning after both Baylor and TCU took care of business on Saturday.
The Bears did their part Saturday night, powering past a dangerous Kansas State team 38-27 in Waco.
QB Bryce Petty, who left the previous weeks game with a concussion, came back to lead his team to a share of the Big 12 title with 412 yards passing and a TD. He ran for a TD as well.
Really the only questions lingering after the game were: 1) Will Baylor get to leapfrog TCU, the other co-champ of the Big 12, who is ranked ahead of them (as of 10am Sunday). 2) Will either Big 12 team be able to hold off the strong Ohio State sentiment coming after their championship win.
We say yes, despite the Big 12 only being 10 and not having a title game, both teams, Baylor and TCU should be ahead of Ohio State. Bottom line: tOSU lost to a crappy Va. Tech team.
Yes, TCU lost to Baylor and that should count. Baylor lost to an inferior West Virginia team.
So how does it play out? We have no earthly idea....

TCU Takes Care of Business With Iowa State

The TCU vs. Iowa State game ended fairly quickly. If a 17-3 halftime lead wasn't enough, dropping a 31-spot in the 3rd quarter took care of it.
The Horned Frogs won a share of the Big 12 title Saturday afternoon, trouncing Iowa State 55-3. And while the Frogs were 3rd in the rigged for ESPN playoff poll going into the game, there is no assurance the win will get them a playoff berth.
Trevone Boykin threw for 460 yards and 4 TD's as TCU rolled up 722 yards of offense on a sunny afternoon in Fort Worth.
TCU's status as we said is uncertain due to the fact they are tied with Baylor for the conference lead. Baylor plays Kansas State Saturday night. A Bear win guarantees a tie, a Baylor loss gives TCU the conference and likely playoff bid.

TCU Crushes Texas 48-10 And Improves It's Street Cred For CFB Selection Committee
In the beauty pageant that is the College Football Playoff the TCU Horned Frogs is starting to look much prettier without the beer goggles.
On Thanksgiving night the Frogs took care of business and then some against the Texas Longhorns.
TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns and the Horned Frog defense intercepted Texas quarterback Tyrone Swoops four times leading to a 48-10 rout over the Longhorns.
It was TCU's longest margin of victory over Texas in Austin since 1956 when the Horned Frogs won 46 - 0.
TCU's defense was dominant forcing six Texas turnovers and taking advantage with 30 of the Frogs' 48 points coming off those Longhorn miscues.
"You just can't turn the ball over." Texas head coach Charlie Strong said. "It's one of those where you have to play good, clean football. We didn't play clean football tonight."
If game control is a strong metric for the College Football Playoff selection committee than TCU should impress.
The Horned Frogs jumped on Texas for 13 points in the first quarter and then put their foot to the throat of the Longhorns in the 4th quarter with 28 points.
TCU supporters are wondering is this what you have to do to break into the final four of the CFB Playoff.
"To me, everybody was talking about how important Texas was, about how good they are, at the beginning of the year." TCU head coach Gary Patterson said. "You know, you've got to keep with the same story, you can't say now that they are not any good. I mean, three quarters of the United States was picking Texas to beat us tonight. You can't be like now Texas is not any good. They are a really good football team,"
'I think the whole team came in with the mindset of being ready to play." TCU wide receiver Josh Doctson said. "Obviously I'd be lying if we weren't aware of style points and all that, but just came out and played TCU football and did what we had to do."
"At the end of the day, if you're talking about the playoffs, it's really not up to us." TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin said.
A 38 point win over Texas in Austin should carry some weight when the committee meets again and releases their poll Tuesday night.
Next up for the Horned Frogs is a home game against Iowa State and unfortunately that game won't do much for your body of work.

The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel: Run Joey Run
You have no idea what song this is---it's from the mid 1970's...
And it describes the bizarreness that is this week in College Football in a way we can't as the polls confuse us and the College Football Playoff rankings make us say:
Because of course it does...
Alas, there are only 3 weeks or so left before any of this rankings madness means anything, but that isn't stopping the arguments.
Especially if you are a fan of TCU or Baylor.
And SEC fans, be worried. Be very worried. Depending on the next few weeks, you might find yourselves locked out of the CFP. Not because the teams are bad, but because they've Walking Dead cannibalized themselves...
But enough of that. Last Week we were 9-4 (thank god we picked Az. St to beat Notre Dame), which puts us at 106-27 on the season, which ain't half bad.
But enough about us...as the legend himself Casey Kasem (RIP) once said; "On with the Countdown"
THE DIRTY DOZEN:
1) Mississippi State. 9-0. D-Day. Moment of reckoning, time to find out if the dream continues. Last weeks practice game was a good tuneup for this one. Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Tall task for anyone. And with the pass defense not improving, we have our doubts.
This Week: at Alabama, Our Pick: Bama 37, Miss St. 36 UPSET!!!!! And game of the Year...
2) Florida St. 9-0. Still undefeated. And don't buy the hype that the Noles will lose. They aren't great, but they are much better than anyone else in the ACC. The week off will help, a lot. They aren't stellar at anything, but they are pretty good at everything. This Week: at Miami, Our Pick: FSU 41, Miami 23
3) Alabama 8-1. Folks, when the dust clears, this may very well be your championship team. They are much better than you think. Not perfect, but nobody this year is. With the defense they have and Amari Cooper, they will always have a chance to win. Don't buy that Blake Sims isn't prime time ready. He'll step up this week. This Week: See #1
4) TCU 8-1. Still don't think Trevone Boykin isn't one of the best players in College Football? Well, then you haven't watched the Frogs play. He's impressive. Odd seeing a Gary Patterson team living on offense not defense, but hey, they do play in the Big 12. The path is clear from here. This Week: at Kansas. Our Pick: TCU 48, Kansas 13
5) Oregon 9-1. Good win vs. Utah. But I still don't buy into these guys. They've yet to prove they won't fold under pressure or when losing. And the pass D isn't any better than Mississippi State's. Plus they are banged up. But they'll coast to the Pac 12 title game. This Week: BYE
6) Ohio St. 8-1. The most improved team of the season. As J.T Barnett has learned, the Bucks have gotten monumentally better. And last weeks win at Michigan State proved it. They aren't perfect and the loss to Va.Tech still hurts perception, but this could be a playoff team. This Week: at Minnesota, Our Pick: tOSU 37, Minnesota 33
7) Baylor 8-1. Sorry, we still don't love this team. They are very good. But not great. If not for Gary Patterson's brain fart, they lose to TCU. The West Va. loss was a bad one. Sure, they pounded Oklahoma, but the Sooners were overrated too. The path is clear, can they stay clean? This Week: BYE
8) Arizona St. 8-1. Yup, Arizona State. A very good team that annihilated Notre Dame. Somehow, they let UCLA slaughter them, but they've done enough to win every other game. They've been good not great, but the path is clear. Win out and it's Oregon for the Pac 12 title and likely playoff berth. This Week: at Oregon St., Our Pick: Az St 41, Oregon St 21
9) Auburn 7-2. No, the Tigers have no real excuse for losing to Texas A&M other than their defense sucks. Still, we never thought they'd go down at home to a team they should easily have beaten. Except maybe they aren't as good as we thought? Or they are...This Week: at Georgia, Our Pick: Georgia 53, Auburn 49 UPSET!!
10) Nebraska 8-1. Yes, Nebraska. They only have one loss folks. Really. Yeah, sure, we know, they play in the Big 10. But they are tough. And you don't hear them whining about Bo Pelini anymore. Plus they get Ameer Abdullah back this week and he's good. Very good. This Week: at Wisconsin, Our Pick: Huskers 31, Wisconsin 21
11) Ole Miss 8-2. So they stopped the bleeding with a practice gm. vs. Presbyterian. Good for them. The Rebels are pretty banged up, but still dangerous. But they go as Bo Wallace goes...and nobody knows how Bo Wallace goes until Bo Wallace plays. So there's that. This Week: BYE
12) Georgia 7-2. They get back in the poll cause Todd Gurley is back. Really though, we should nickname this team The Brain Farts. They always do something to keep them from being all they could be. When thinking, they are very good, When not, there's the Florida game. This Week: See #9.
THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL:
Okay, so it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that SMU is our Toilet Bowl champs this year, though Georgia State is giving them a late run for their money. Thank god the two teams don't play, all 500 that would show up would need to have their eyes fixed afterwards....
5) Troy 2-8. Trojan man for the win! Yay Troy...Oh, wait, you played Ga. State last week? Well, someone had to win. That might not be enough to get out off the list. Sorry. But you still have a chance. This Week: at Idaho, Our Pick: Troy 38, Idaho 27
4) Idaho 1-8. So, the good news is nobody has blown you out. The bad news is outside beating crappy New Mexico State, you've lost all your other games. Which is why you reside here. And unfortunately, you may not be leaving. This Week: See #5
3) Kent State 1-9. Hey, at least you've scored 20 points in each of the past 2 games. Okay, so you lost both of them. But you did beat Army, though nobody is sure how. No, the Flashes aren't the worst team in CFB, but they are pretty close. This Week: Already played....and lost
2) Georgia State 1-9. Oh, pity the poor Panthers, one win the past 2 seasons. Unfortunately, they are the poster child for moving to Division 1 before being ready. And now they pay the price. Trent Miles is a good coach, but it will be several yrs before they'll be competitive. This Week: BYE
1) SMU 0-8. Wow, the Mustangs don't end the season til December 6th. 3 more wks of agony and suckage. But hey, the briefly had the lead vs. a crappy Tulsa team and scored 28 in a loss. Baby steps guys, baby steps. This Week: vs. South Florida, Our Pick: USF 31, SMU 13

Ha! West Virginia and the Eat #$%! Pitt Version of Sweet Caroline

Oh, this is rich....those wacky West Virginia Mountaineers had a little fun when the ESPN College Gameday cameras stopped rolling this past Saturday morning before their game with TCU.
While in the midst of a rollicking/large crowd version of that perennial Neil Diamond fan favorite, "Sweet Caroline"...a few words got changed.
And it made reference to the Mountaineers arch rivals from just up the river---The Pittsburgh Panthers.
The Gameday crew also seemed to get a good laugh at it....

The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel: Truth!
And the truth is, we've hit the College Football Playoff rankings time.
Let's just say, the way overhyped first edition left more than a few observers scratching their collective heads.
Okay, maybe not all of us.
Our point is; that's not going to be how they finish. No way. Too many rivalry games. All the SEC West teams still play one another. And TCU still has to play Kansas State.
A lot of things will change. Trust us. Things in college football always change.

11-2 last week. Not bad. We've been pretty consistent this season. Consistently good that is!....Haha!
No, seriously, the 11-2 mark makes us 89-18 on the season and while not perfect, it is pretty damn impressive...
But enough about me. It's time to get "On with the Countdown"...
THE DIRTY DOZEN:
1) Florida State 7-0. Still don't like them. Still hope they lose. But not seeing it. Jimbo Fisher is a moron who thinks the SEC and ESPN is ganging up on him. Ha! You really are stupid Jimbo. You don't get it. It's not, nor has it ever been about you. But...they still are the defending champs and as the Nature Boy always says;

2) Mississippi State 7-0. Sure, they struggled with a better Kentucky team. But they get credit for surviving the 1st part of their SEC gauntlet. Still have games with Bama and Ole Miss left. Survive that and yeah, you may be the man...This Week: vs. Arkansas, Our Pick: Miss St. 37, Ark. 23
3) Alabama 7-1. Are they back? Did they ever leave? Sure...they coasted after getting a quick lead on Tennessee but nobody can stop Amari Cooper on offense. He and Blake Sims have transformed a once slow motion Tide offense. And that may get them back to the title game. Sigh...This Week: BYE
4) Auburn 7-1. Time to play big boy football there Tigers. You've had a few good breaks this season. The offense has struggled at times. The defense more so. But time to step up. After this week, you still have Georgia and Alabama to deal with. This Week: at Ole Miss, Our Pick: Ole Miss 27, Auburn 23
5) Ole Miss 7-1. Best defense in all the land. And had Bo Wallace not totally brain-farted, the Rebs might still be undefeated. But that's all it takes to change the season. These guys still have a chance to get in the playoff. Win this week and all that's left is the Egg Bowl. This Week: See #4
6) Kansas St. 7-1. The Wildcats are a couple missed field goals from being undefeated. And they are much better than you think. They just quietly go about their business and in the Big 9(12), as long as you play defense you have a shot. They play defense. This Week: vs. Oklahoma St., Our Pick: K-State 38, Okie St. 31
7) Oregon 7-1. The Ducks are still the Ducks and they'll always be loved by the pollsters. And as long as they have Marcus Mariota, they have a chance to beat anyone. But as always--they still suck on defense and tend to lose if under pressure. We'll see if that holds true. This Week: vs. Stanford, Our Pick: Oregon 43, Stanford 31
8) Michigan State 7-1. Your Little 10 champs? Maybe. We should know better after this week. They've scored a ton of points this year, given up a lot too. Beat Ohio State, they are likely to walk away with the title. B1G title that is. This Week: BYE
9) TCU 7-1. The temptation is to rank them higher after Trevonne Boykin and his pals dropped 82 on Texas Tech. And hey, that makes them the #1 in scoring avg this season. But...there are still roadblocks ahead. And if the Froggies don't play better D, they won't get past them. This Week: at West Virginia, Our Pick: West By-Gawd 51, TCU 47---UPSET ALERT!!
10) Notre Dame 7-1. Confession. We are not fans of the Irish. And it sometimes affects our ranking of the boys from South Bend. But...keep in mind, it's mostly because they are usually way overrated. This, to us, is the right place for them. But they could jump if the teams ahead cannibalize themselves. This Week: at Navy, Our Pick: Notre Dame 41, Navy 23
11) Georgia 7-1. Bad news--no Todd Gurley for 2 more weeks. Good news--The Dawgs haven't needed him. The improving defense has helped UGA get the table set to make this a memorable season. But they too always seem to gag under pressure. Can they avoid it this year? This Week: vs. Florida, Our Pick: UGA 23, UF 13
12) Arizona 7-1. Go Rich Rods...A bad, close loss to to Southern Cal is the only blemish for the Wildcats. But props to these guys. They've become relevant again after a long time out of the spotlight. And hey, they beat Oregon. So that counts too. This Week: at UCLA, Our Pick: Fighting Rodriguez's 37, UCLA 30
THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL:
5) UConn 1-6. Oh, poor, poor UConn. How many years ago was it you were playing in the Fiesta Bowl game? Amazing how fast fortunes can turn. This is a bad team that is likely to run the table. Except they finish with a Toilet Bowl game vs. SMU. This Week: vs. UCF, Our Pick: UCF 37, UConn 12
4) Georgia State 1-7. Guess the Panthers picked a bad week to play the nations best running team last week. 600 plus yards and 60-plus points later, Ga. Southern walked away with a win. There may be A winnable game on the schedule, but which one? This Week: at Appalachian St., Our Pick: Appy State 37, Ga. State 21
3) Tulsa 1-6. Another team that had a good run in the not so distant past. But hard times have come to their town. And we don't know if things are going to get better either. (Cheesy 80's music references--look them up). This Week: at Memphis, Our Pick: Memphis 31, Tulsa 23
2) Troy 1-7. The Trojans need to just write off this season. It's been ug, ug, ugly and it's not going to get better either...

Morning Roundup: TCU Drops 82 on Texas Tech

Whoa! 82 points? That's more than the Texas Christian basketball team scored in all but one game last season.
But that's exactly how many points the Horned Frogs scored Saturday afternoon against Texas Tech winning 82-27.
Trevone Boykin, who may be the best quarterback you've never heard of threw for 433 yards and 7 TD's...yes, 7 TD's for TCU. Mind you Boykin didn't play in the 4th quarter against a completely overmatched Red Raider squad.
Oddly, TCU coach Gary Patterson has always been known as a defensive coach, but as happy as he was about the offense, he was not thrilled his team gave up 27 points and a ton of yards in the win.
Rather than go on at length about all the crazy Madden 15 like statistics, we'll just cut straight to the chase and say "Watch the Highlights".

Baylor Outscores TCU 61-58
61-58, isn't that a basketball score?
What? No, it's a football score?
Really? Surely you're joking....
I'm not joking and don't call me surely...
It took a 28-yard Game Winning Field Goal at the buzzer by Baylor's Chris Callahan to stop the scoring onslaught. Callahan's kick gave the Baylor Bears a 61-58 win over TCU in a shootout that maybe the biggest of all shootouts...
Callahan's kick capped a comeback that saw the Bears fall behind by as much as 21 points with only 11 minutes to go.
But the powerful Baylor offense, behind 510 yards passing and 6 TD's by Quarterback Bryce Petty came back. And came back fast.
With the game tied and just over a minute to go, TCU coach Gary Patterson decided to go for it on 4th and 3 from the Baylor 45. And inexplicably called a pass play.
The pass was incomplete.
Giving Petty and Baylor a minute to go half the field was plenty of time. A pass interference call against TCU and some smart running by Shock Linwood who ran for 172 yards, out the ball in position for Callahan to finish the game.
And he did...

Starting in Oxford... it was proven once again that Alabama has SERIOUS special teams issues in their loss to Ole Miss where Bo Wallace would keep the football and stash it someplace after the game was over as he tried to escape the throng that stormed the field.
Oklahoma decided that a road game against TCU in their new digs was a great idea... It wasn't...and plays like this one Gary Patterson pulled out of the back of the playbook help. What kind of flaws do USC have...??? There seems to be the one glaring one right now... Late game focus... it came into play as Arizona State came from behind to surprise them Some would think that Miss State's win over Texas A&M was an upset... The HQ doesn't think so as their suspect defense was exposed and Dak Prescott went off in a 48-31 win But here's one last one for you to think about as we head to Sunday... Northwestern hosted Wisconsin and they weren't good hosts- beating the Badgers 20-14 in a bit of a mucker it looks like...

ICYMI: TCU Beats Sam Houston in 22 Innings

We started this with the "In Case You Missed It" moniker because more than likely you were asleep at 3:45 a.m when the game ended.
22 Innings and almost 7 hours after it started, Texas Christian University had an NCAA Sub Regional Baseball playoff win against Sam Houston State 3-2.
And the game didn't lack for drama or what ended up being false finishes.
A controversial double play attempt in the 21st inning initially had Sam Houston thinking they won the game...but the umpire at 2nd base ruled interference, giving TCU 2-outs and getting the Horned Frogs out of the inning.
Sam Houston coach David Pierce and the baserunner, Luke Plucheck were both ejected for arguing the call. The umpire stating that Plucheck got too close when breaking up the double play.
The win puts TCU from winning the reason, Sam Houston plays an elimination game at 3:30 Sunday afternoon.
In case you are wondering, the game was the 2nd longest in NCAA playoff history, the longest went 25 innings for what it's worth...

Baylor Squeaks By TCU: Gary Patterson Not Happy With Art Briles

Sounds like we have a budding rivalry forming here.
Lost in the rubble of Baylor's 41-38 win over TCU Saturday evening is the post-game rant of TCU coach Gary Patterson.
Patterson was highly ticked off after a play in the 3rd quarter. That play involved Baylor safety Ahmad Dixon and a helmet-to-helmet hit on TCU's Trevone Boykin. Dixon was apparently tossed for the Targeting penalty, but apparently stayed on the sideline.
Patterson tried to come across the field to have Dixon ejected and was confronted by Briles.

Frogs Are "Raided" in Lubbock, Texas Tech Upsets #24 TCU 20-10
The Kliff Kingsbury era at Texas Tech is off to a great start.
The Red Raiders are off to a 3-0 start after defeating #24 TCU in Lubbock, Texas Thursday night 20-10.
It was an ugly game on the West Texas plains with the Horned Frogs and Red Raiders committing five turnovers combined.
Texas Tech freshman quarterback Baker Mayfield threw three interceptions and had to leave the game in the fourth quarter injured.
Another freshman quarterback Davis Webb entered and went 3/4 passing and put Texas Tech up for good on a fourth quarter 19 yard touchdown pass to Bradley Marquez.
"Just had a go called, and was able to get a beat on them and keep them on my back shoulder." Marquez said. " Just a beautiful ball by Davis Webb, and those kind of balls you don't drop. So I just had to make a play when it came my way."
It's safe to say TCU head coach Gary Patterson was not a fan of the officiating crew assigned to the game by the Big 12 Conference.
"I can't talk about the officiating, but I will watch it." Patterson said. "I'm not happy."
Patterson witnessed 13 penalties called costing the Frogs 115 yards.
"You can't have as many penalties as we had." Patterson said. "If you're going to do that -- that's why I'm late getting here, because I'm not very happy at all."
TCU drops to 1-2 on the season.

TCU's Gary Patterson Emerging As Front Runner For Arkansas Head Coaching Job

Coachingsearch.com is citing sources that indicate
TCU head coach Gary Patterson has emerged as the front runner for the head
coaching position at Arkansas.
Patterson has become a fixture at TCU guiding the
Horned Frog football program onto the national stage first as a BCS buster then
forcing BCS conferences to extend invitations.
It’s not the first time Patterson has been wooed
before but Arkansas can make a compelling case to make the move.
1. SEC School
2. Lots of $$$$$$$
3. Facilities
4. Patterson won’t have to shift his recruiting
focus.
5. Rabid fan base
To go with point #2, Patterson makes close to $3 million
per year at TCU on a contract that runs to 2018. Arkansas shouldn’t have any problem coming up
with some major dollars.
For one thing the Hogs didn’t have to pay off Bobby
Petrino when they fired him with cause and John L. Smith is make chump change
so athletic director Jeff Long doesn’t have financial liabilities to deal with.
If Gary Patterson is in Jeff Long’s cross hairs I
would expect Patterson to be calling the Hogs in the next few weeks. When Jeff Long wants someone to coach one of
his programs he gets the deal done (i.e. Bobby Petrino and men’s basketball
head coach Mike Anderson.)

TCU Out-Balls WBGV In Double Overtime

Remember when everyone was talking about how West By Gawd Virginia was the second coming of your favorite religious being and was going to take care of everything and show up in the Bee-Cee-Ess title game (or something close to it)...???
Well, that was certainly a long time ago...
TCU showed up in Morgantown and showed once again that West Virginia have no defense whatsoever... especially in overtime or double overtime...
Evidence below...
TCU was actually 10 points down late in the fourth quarter and came back to force overtime.
Trevone Boykin and Josh Boyce hooked up on a 96-yard TD pass play with 1:28 left to tie the score at 31-31. Neither offense scored in the first overtime which led to the action in the second...

Texas Tech held off a game TCU Saturday afternoon in Fort Worth 56-53 in 3 Overtimes.
Yes, that's right, 3 Overtimes.
TCU scored 10-points in the last 2:30 of regulation play to tie the game at 36. There would be a lot more football left to be played.
The 2 teams traded touchdowns in the first 2 overtime periods and the Horned Frogs thought they might pull out the win when Jaden Oberkrom drilled a 38-yard field goal to take a 53-50 lead in the third overtime.
But Tech's Seth Doege threw his 7th (yes 7) touchdown pass to Alex Torres shortly after the field goal, giving the Red Raiders the win.
That win moves Tech to 5-1, 3-1 in the Big 12, TCU drops to 5-2 and 2-2 in the Big 12.
Both teams probably will sleep good tonight.

Cyclones End Nations Longest Winning Streak, Own State Of Texas Too.
The Iowa State Cyclones do not dread going to Texas, they love it. Success is guaranteed the last three years.
In 2010 the Cyclones defeated the 22nf ranked Texas 28-21 and last season Iowa State beat down then #19 Texas Tech in Lubbock 41-7.

No Starting QB, No Win For TCU

Casey Paschall was on the bench for his DUI that he punched earlier this week...
And, say what you want, it probably contributed greatly to the Iowa State Cyclones knocking off a top-25 opponent on the road for the third season in a row. This time it was a 37-23 win at Amon Carter Stadium in the Metroplex. The college version of "longest winning streak" also died at 12 games in a row.
The win over the Horned Frogs was also only the third in 33 attempts on the road for ISU against a top-25 team dating back to 1996.

"You can't give up big plays on defense and you can't turn the ball over on offense," TCU head coach Gary Patterson said. "Real simple."
Five turnovers will do that for you...
And Patterson is set to meet with the chancellor of TCU next week to discuss Paschall's future on campus- if he even has one. Remember, Paschall admitted that eight months ago he smoked some marijuana and failed a team-issued drug test.
