Did you ever have one of those days where absolutely everything you thought was an absolute lock came crashing down around your ankles and left you in such a state that your pants wouldn't fit anymore...???
Let's face it... all hell broke loose at the top of the rankings (whether you choose to look at Brother Phil's Dozen or some other source) and sent it all in the blender for the foreseeable future...
Examples...
Starting in Oxford... it was proven once again that Alabama has SERIOUS special teams issues in their loss to Ole Miss where Bo Wallace would keep the football and stash it someplace after the game was over as he tried to escape the throng that stormed the field.
Oklahoma decided that a road game against TCU in their new digs was a great idea...
It wasn't...and plays like this one Gary Patterson pulled out of the back of the playbook help.
What kind of flaws do USC have...???
There seems to be the one glaring one right now...
Late game focus... it came into play as Arizona State came from behind to surprise them
Some would think that Miss State's win over Texas A&M was an upset...
The HQ doesn't think so as their suspect defense was exposed and Dak Prescott went off in a 48-31 win
But here's one last one for you to think about as we head to Sunday...
Northwestern hosted Wisconsin and they weren't good hosts- beating the Badgers 20-14 in a bit of a mucker it looks like...

Sooners Mixon Suspended For Season
((HT: News9.com/Newson6.com))
Oklahoma Sooners freshman running back Joe Mixon has been suspended for the entire 2014 season after his arraignment in an assault after he argued with a woman at a Norman, Oklahoma restaurant last month.
He was charged with a misdemeanor- acts resulting in gross injury- from allegedly punching a woman.
OU President David Boren agreed with the assessment of both head coach Bob Stoops and AD Joe Castiglione where:
"...Mixon will be excluded from all team activities, including being removed from the team roster. With appropriate conditions, he will be permitted to continue as a student, eligible for financial aid.
Vice President for Athletics Joe Castiglione and Head Football Coach Bob Stoops said, “As the university has demonstrated in the past, we are committed to winning the right way. As an example to others, OU sets the highest possible standards for its student athletes, coaches and staff.”
Here's the latest from Norman

Mixon was released on his own recognizance after posting $1,000 bond. He was given a "no contact" order by the judge in the case where the accuser is concerned and his next appearance in court is set for September 23.

Baylor Takes Care Of Bid-Ness, Knocks Off Big Game Bob...
((HT: Newsok.com))
The first quarter of the Baylor-Oklahoma game last night was what most folks thought it would be... the Sooners slowing down Baylor's offense and hamstringing them to normalcy- especially after the safety, free kick return, and a 5-3 lead...
Which might have been the beginning of the end for the Sooners... getting three instead of seven...
From there, Baylor and their black shirts outscored Oklahoma 38-7 on their way to a dominating, 41-12 win where Baylor took advantage of mistakes and capitalized quickly...
Very quickly...
Here's Damon Fontenot- very, very late last night talking about all the problems...
The Oklahoman's Berry Tramel thinks that both Josh Heupel and Blake Bell are in trouble where their jobs are concerned... From Tramel: Two years ago, after Robert Griffin torched the Sooners for a 45-38 upset, Stoops was motivated to switch his defensive leadership. Within six weeks, Mike Stoops was in and Brent Venables was out. So the Heupel watch officially has begun. Bob Stoops went 13 years without firing a coach. Now he's fired four and demoted another in the last two seasons. Stoops has proven he's got a guillotine and will use it.
Must read for Sooner types...

So, Does Mack Brown Keep His Job Now...??? And What About Mark Richt...???
((HT: Longhorn Network))
The HQ officially gives up...
We guess THIS was the team that everyone was looking forward to seeing this season, and didn't get to until now...
Texas bottled up Blake Bell and the Oklahoma offense, was up 23-10 at the half and won 36-20... it wasn't that close...
Here's your highlights...
Texas improves to 4-2 and 3-0 in the Big 12. They take a week off before returning to play at TCU on the 26th...
And, then, it looks like Aaron Murray put the Georgia Bulldog team on his back one too many weeks in a row as they lost at home to Missouri... even with an injured James Franklin not finishing the game at quarterback for the Tigers...
((HT: ESPN))
Now, let's just see how realistic people are in Austin and Athens...???
What say you...???

OKC Barons Locker Room Flooded During OKC Tornado
((HT: Josh Green's Twitter @greendogg12))
This is a small sample of what was happening in Oklahoma City today as the area took another direct hit from Mother Nature and her busy-bodyness... the captain of the AHL Oklahoma City Barons was taking pictures of the water coming from above in all of the rains and tornados that are hitting the town for the second time in a week-and-a-half...

The Cox Convention Center is the only place in Oklahoma City that has an ice surface. Any game in the area can't be played at Chesapeake Energy Center, the home of the Thunder, because it wasn't built to have an ice surface at all.
No word on when the series between the Barons and the Grand Rapids Griffins will resume.
Here's clean-up video from inside Cox...

Ex OU QB Steve Davis Dies In South Bend Plane Crash
((HT: Sports Illustrated))
It had been reported that Oklahoma QB Steve Davis was on the plane that crashed in a residential neighborhood in South Bend, Indiana over the weekend...
Tinker Owens, one of former quarterback Steve Davis' receivers on two national championship Sooner teams, confirmed Davis' death to The Oklahoman in a text message.
"We lost a great Sooner," Owens said. "Sad news."
Here's highlights of the 1975 Orange Bowl against Michigan...
((HT: NBC Sports))
Davis led the Oklahoma Sooners to the 1974 and 1975 national championships as its quarterback. He started at Oklahoma from 1973-75- Barry Switzer's first three seasons as head coach. Davis and the Sooners were 32-1-1 during his career.

Father Allegedly Beats Son Over Bedlam Allegiance
((HT: KFOR-TV))
The HQ knows all about Bedlam...
We know about rivalries, what they mean, and how they effect families- even cutting them in pieces. You've all seen the license plates about houses divided and all that stuff...
We now have our extreme example as to what rivalries mean... and this one is pretty extreme...
A 41-year-old father from a town outside Stillwater, Oklahoma is accused of beating his 9-year-old son because his son liked Oklahoma and the Sooners, not sharing the father's allegiance to OSU...
Awesome...
Here's their coverage from a small town...
Apparently, this wasn't the first time this may have happened, either...
Even more awesome...
The HQ thinks that this father, when behind bars, will make new friends very quickly...
And not in a good way...

Bedlam Was Exactly That...
((HT: newsok.com))
Oklahoma had three receivers go over 100 yards receiving and Landry Jones (in all his reported gimpyness) threw for 500 yards...
The Sooners needed all of those yards in a 51-48 overtime win...
Damon Fontenot was there and bundled up...
Oklahoma’s offense totalled 618 total yards and 44 first downs — second-most in NCAA history for a game.
Oklahoma can get the Big 12/10 championship, but they need a win next Saturday at TCU and Kansas State has to lose at home to Texas.
If both teams win, they’ll share the Big 12 title. But Kansas State will earn the Fiesta Bowl berth because of their 24-19 win at Oklahoma on September 22nd.

Oklahoma racks up 63 on Texas
Yeeeeesh...
How many people thought the Oklahoma/Texas game was going to be close this year?
After all, both teams came in ranked in the Top 15.
Folks, this one wasn't close.
At all.
Oklahoma didn't just beat Texas in the 2012 version of the "Red River Rivalry", they destroyed them. Your final score in Dallas today--Oklahoma 63, Texas 21. And it wasn't that close.
Damien Williams had a 95-yard TD run and Blake Bell ran for 4 TD's. Add in Landry Jones with 321 passing yards and a couple of TD's along with Trey Millard's 119 yards receiving and...well, you get the picture.
Oklahoma moves to 4-1 on the season and keeps themselves a game behind Kansas State for the Big 12 lead along with getting their mojo back after struggling early, Texas goes to 3-2 and raises the same questions that popped up over the last couple of seasons: Are they really this bad?
Here is an early highlight for you.
Check out Millard taking the screen pass and hurdling an oncoming tackler. He didn't score, but this was an awfully impressive move for a fullback.
