((HT: Clinton Lumber Kings their own selves))
Okay...
Here's the situation...
Runners at first and second, two outs, 5-5 score, and the pop-up gets lost up the elevator...
How would you score this one...???
The HQ thinks it's a double and a two-base throwing error...
Here's the official word, thanks to Mike Weisman and the Lumber Kings:
Tyler O'Neill popped up just in front of the plate. The ball landed on the dirt, no more than two feet in fair territory in between the entire Wisconsin infield. As Barbosa crossed the plate, Matos fielded the ball, and in an attempt to throw out O'Neill at second base, threw it into centerfield, as O'Neill and Thomas both scored. The third baseman was charged with two errors on the plate, as Clinton let 8-5 after four innings.
However, Wisconsin came back to win 10-9

When Mother Nature Doesn't Care About Your Baseball Game
((HT: KCRG-TV))
The line of storms that has put a lot of the upper Midwest under water the last two days caused some serious issues in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at the Kernels Midwest League game Monday against the Clinton Lumber Kings.
Members of the Kernels staff were injured when 80-mile-per-hour winds blew the tarp over them as they tried to pull it over the infield. The injuries included three concussions and assistant General Manager Scott Wilson dislocated his left shoulder.
Here's the video of when the storm showed up 10 minutes early...

Here's One Way To Turn Two
((HT: MiLB.com))
Peoria Chiefs and Quad Cities...
Grounder to Mason Katz who involves Richy Pedroza before he's through with the play...
The HQ will admit that we have never been able to turn to straight, out of the glove flip to turn a double play ever...

OSG MiLB: Clinton Comes Back From 17-1 Down For Win
((HT: Clinton Herald))
A seven-run second and nine-run fifth helped the Midwest League's Burlington Bees to a 17-1 lead heading to the bottom of the inning. So, you're thinking, everything is locked up... coast from here... and it's all good...
Not so much... The Clinton LumberKings scored 19 unanswered runs for the 20-17, 12-inning win.
Clinton 2B Lonnie Kauppilla had never pitched professionally and hadn't pitched since high school. He retired the Bees in order in the 12th. Obviously, he picked up his first career save.
Josh Jackson over at milb.com caught up with him:
"Being up by one and knowing I was going to have to pitch when I haven't pitched in five years, I really wanted to get us some extra runs," the Stanford product said. "I was really glad that I was able to get that hit."
Zachary James of the Herald caught up with LumberKings manager Scott Steinemann very early in the morning in Iowa
Just so you know- thinking this is some kind of fluke- Clinton also overcame an eight-run deficit on Saturday, scoring five times with two outs in the ninth inning to beat Wisconsin, 16-13. So there's that history lesson for every other team in the Midwest League.
The official game time was just under 3-and-a-half hours and the recorded attendance of 558 will grow exponentially from this moment forward.
The HQ, actually, will admit to listening to the 12th inning from the Bees point-of-view...
Pretty wild stuff...
