The line of storms that has put a lot of the upper Midwest under water the last two days caused some serious issues in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at the Kernels Midwest League game Monday against the Clinton Lumber Kings.
Members of the Kernels staff were injured when 80-mile-per-hour winds blew the tarp over them as they tried to pull it over the infield. The injuries included three concussions and assistant General Manager Scott Wilson dislocated his left shoulder.
Here's the video of when the storm showed up 10 minutes early...

Firefighter Hit by Lightning at Columbus Soccer Game
((ht: 10tv.com))
There's a rule that exists among meteorologists and weather folks that says if you can hear thunder, take cover because you could get hit by lightning.
And if you happen to find yourself at a sporting event when a thunderstorm rolls in. Well, you need to take cover, which is easier said than done.
Lt. Stu Tudor of the Columbus (OH) Fire Department is in an area hospital in critical condition after being struck by lightning in the parking lot of a Columbus Crew (MLS) soccer game.
According to WBNS-TV in Columbus, a man who took cover in a nearby portable toilet said he could feel the electricity and it sounded like a bomb going off. The man told the TV station he opened the door and saw Tudor lying on the ground.
The Crew postponed Saturday nights game, delaying it to Sunday afternoon though the forecast for the area says there is a very good chance more thunderstorms will be in the area.

Rangers Grounds Crew Fighting Mother Nature
If you ever been to North Texas for a long period of time you know that monster thunderstorms can pop up quickly.
A grand-daddy thunderstorm popped up before the Texas Rangers game against the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday night leaving the Rangers grounds crew to fight the elements while dragging the tarp.
“Somebody said it was 80 mph,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said. “That’s a hurricane.”
Even though the grounds crew tried the field took on too much water and was unplayable so the game was postponed.
“You can’t do anything about Mother Nature.” Washington said.
No you can't.
