A 31-7 run by the Knights and Blake Bortles' 11-play, 75-yard drive put his team up 38-35 with 23 seconds left gave Teddy Bridgewater little chance to do anything other than a Hail Mary to resurrect their season.

Here's the highlights...


"I said, 'Let's get some 2-minute calls ready,'" Bortles said after the game. "We knew we were going to have to go 2-minute. ... Our offensive line did a great job, and our receivers did a great job of getting yards after the catch."

Bortles finished 21-of-32 passing for 250 yards and two touchdowns while Storm Johnson rushed for 109 yards and a TD on 18 carries...

ICYMI: Louisville Takes Care of Sleepwalking Florida

No, this is NOT the biggest upset in BCS history as ESPN billed it. But it sure the heck surprised an awful lot of people.

The University of Louisville and coach Charlie Strong surprised the sleepwalking Florida Gators 33-23 in Wednesday nights Sugar Bowl. We also should note, Strong was a former Florida assistant.

When the Cardinals Terell Floyd returned an interception on the 1st play of the game for a TD, you knew something was up.

And while Teddy Bridgewater (2 TD passes) outplaying Gator QB Jeff Driskel (2 INT's and a fumble) was a surprise to nobody, the way the Cardinals dominated a Florida team who didn't seem like they were interested in the game, surprised all the so-called experts.

After all, wasn't Florida "allegedly" the best team in the SEC? They got the BCS berth even though they were ranked lower than Georgia who actually showed up to play in the Cap One Bowl. Yet they looked like they wanted to be anywhere BUT New Orleans. And we might add, the Gator fans were noticeably absent as well, reports saying they only sold 1/2 to 2/3 of their ticket allotment.

Louisville, the Big East champ was ranked #22 going into the game and next year, they will be a member of the ACC. Both teams finish the season with 11-2 records.

There was the prevailing idea that Louisville and Rutgers would be making some kind of statement: what that statement is... the HQ has no real clue... but some kind of statement about their place in the Bee-Cee-Ess...

So much for that idea- on both fronts...and Charlie Strong's viability during Silly Season may have taken a hit...

First, Teddy Bridgewater played with a broken bone in his wrist... which the HQ gives him due props for... But UConn beat Louisville in overtime- which will send the Cardinals plummeting in the rankings...

And, then, Pitt scored 21 unanswered in the second on their way to a 27-6 upset of Rutgers- who was ranked 21st at the time of the opening kickoff...

Pitt, still left in some shambles from the Hurricane Todd Graham era, had to have Paul Chryst pick up some pieces... the Panthers, behind Ray Graham, are now 5-6...

Louisville rolls, Bridgewater with 5 TD passes

They aren't going to win the National Championship, but Louisville is making a fairly convincing case to be at least a part of the BCS.

Teddy Bridgewater threw for 324 yards and 5 TD's as the Cardinals stayed undefeated on the season, rolling Temple 45-17.

You might want to note, they fell behind 7-0 after giving up a 93-yard kick return for a Temple TD on the opening play of the game.

Louisville, who scored 5 of the first 6 times they got the ball, moves to 9-0, 4-0 in the Big East. Depending how Saturday plays out, they may find themselves in the Top 10 after this win. They travel to Syracuse next week.
