Did Ex Ess-E-Cee Players Get Extra Benefits From Agents...??? (UPDATE: Saban Reacts)

((HT: Yahoo!Sports))

The last time Charles Robinson dropped the hammer on someone, the University of Miami was put on "Uncle Nevin" Alert...

Now, he and Rand Getlin have now come forward to disclose that former Alabama tackle D.J. Fluker, Tennessee QB Tyler Bray, Tennessee DE Maurice Couch, Mississippi State University DT Fletcher Cox and Mississippi State WR Chad Bumphis have had alleged contact with intermediaries and, possibly, agents.

Fluker, Bray and Cox are all currently in the pros. Bumphis was released by the Miami Dolphins. Couch is a senior starting for the Volunteers. Robinson and Getlin were contacted by those who felt that former Alabama TE Luther Davis was acting as an intermediary for college football players and agents.

Here's Charles Robinson with Melanie Collins...

If proven true, the NCAA violation for consorting with agents could retroactively blow up any positive stuff from Alabama, Tennessee, and Miss State during the eligibility of the five athletes.

From Getlin and Robinson:

Yahoo Sports was able to authenticate text message records, Western Union fund transfers, banking statements, flight receipts and other financial material linking both Davis and the five college football players. Yahoo Sports also found that three NFL agents and three financial advisers engaged Davis in transactions totaling $45,550. The three agents were Andy Simms, Peter Schaffer and John Phillips. The financial advisers were Jason Jernigan, Mike Rowan and Hodge Brahmbhatt.

Here are all the investigation documents

This has all the appearances of deep doo-doo if all of this checks out...
Which it looks like it does...

The schools involved are investigating and declining comment... as well they should...

Here's early reports from WBRC-TV and MyFoxAL

Wednesday was press conference day for Tide head coach Nick Saban, and he was in no mood to talk about players past...

Is Tyler Bray "Paid to Win Football Games" or a Lunkhead? (video)

Freudian slip perhaps?

University of Tennesse QB Tyler Bray made a bunch of Sports People's heads spin at Tuesday mornings media availability.

The reason: He was asked during the session if he like the NFL prospects of a couple teammates he said, that's up to you guys, he followed it by saying "I'm paid to win football games".

No, really, he said it.

Uh, it may very well have been a slip , he followed it by saying "I mean, my education. That's what the SEC likes to call getting paid". Huh? We're reasonably certain he didn't mean what he said, but it was just kind of interesting that he did.

Bray isn't the brightest light on the college football landscape--something he's already proven more than once. But he is a very talented football player on a somewhat mediocre football team.

And to quote the great Ricky Ricardo--now he's "Got some splainin' to do"....

Here's the interview from the school their ownselves: (It's at the 4:27 mark)

Lattimore Hurt Again: South Carolina escapes Tennessee (UPDATED)

It was a tough day, which extended a string of tough weeks for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Though they did find a way to hold on and beat a game University of Tennesse 38-35.

South Carolina, once a Top 3 team, had to run a gauntlet of Georgia, LSU and Florida before this game. They won 2 of the 3.

They'll finish the season without star tailback Marcus Lattimore. Lattimore who missed last season after a serious left ACL injury, was carted off the field and taken to the hospital in the 2nd quarter after a gruesome injury to his right knee. He had run for 70 yds and a TD when it happened

Thanks for the video ESPN:

The Volunteers fought hard, Tyler Bray threw for 368 yds and 4 TD's, but Connor Shaw had 356 and 3 scores.

Check out Bray to receiver Zach Rogers for a 4th Quarter TD.

Thanks again ESPN:

In the end South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney  forced a late Tennessee fumble and the Gamecocks move to 5-2 in the SEC. Tennessee with apparent lame duck coach Derek Dooley, drops to 0-5 in the conference and 3-5 overall.

PM UPDATE: Lattimore's news is not good...

From Brian van Ochten's Twitter...

The news on South Carolina's Marcus Lattimore is awful: Broken femur and all four knee ligaments torn.

Payne Insider is also reporting on his Twitter feed that Lattimore's knee cap is also chipped to go with the ligament and bone damage...

The University is scheduled to give the official update Sunday...
