WHAT A FINISH: Two Treys In 10 Seconds Lift Monmouth Past Canisius

This was an unbelievable 10 seconds for Monmouth's Andrew Nicholas who nailed a pair of three point baskets to lead the Hawks to a 83-82 win over Canisius.

"We were very fortunate for Baron to miss that free throw," Nicholas said.  

Canisius' Billy Baron is a 92 percent free throw shooter and missed the front end of the one and one to set up the game winner for Nicholas.

"I was expecting Deon [Jones] to drive and get to the basket, but two went to him, so I spotted up, double-pumped it, and somehow it went in. It was very fortunate." Nicholas said.

“That kid Nicholas stepped up when they needed him to." Canisius head coach Jim Baron said.

"We made some tough, tough shots down the stretch today." Monmouth head coach King Rice said.  "It was a total team effort, from being in practice, to our guys on the floor and then to the fans for staying with us today when we got down. It's all starting to come together."

Yes that's the same King Rice that was a point guard for Dean Smith at North Carolina in the early 90's.

As for Andrew Nicholas he's a hero in West Long Branch, New Jersey.  Nicholas finished with a game high 28 points, 18 coming in the second half.
