Orange Bowl To NIU: We Didn't Want You Here...

((HT: CBSSports/Feldman))

Florida State alums around the country were already cringing at the idea of the no-win situation that is the Orange Bowl against Northern Illinois...

Big win over Northern Illinois: No love since "it shoulda happened anyway..."

Escaping Northern Illinois game with a win: No love bordering on laughter for barely beating a #MACtion squad...

Loss To Northern Illinois: Laughter amongst the universe and lighted pitchforks heading to Tallahassee to demand the head of Jimbo Fisher...

And here was the discussion from the beginning...
((HT: ESPN))

Then, this week preparing for the Orange Bowl according to Feldman, a bowl rep told an NIU staffer: "You guys [NIU] don't even deserve to be here,” the Orange Bowl rep said to the NIU staffer. “We didn't even want you here.”

Really...???

Now, despite Huskies QB Jordan Lynch's running his mouth, and Herbstreit contradicting himself on multiple programs across the four-letter saying that (first) Florida State will be coming in unmotivated to (now) being ready to take some skulls...???

Their reaction on Bee-Cee-Ess selection day...???
((HT: PrideInThePack))

To the conversation that Feldman is now reporting...???

Let's just throw grease on the fire, shall we...???

#NotSoFastMidget, Corso Schools 5-Year-Old, Chokes Out Duck

((HT: Big Lead Sports))

They got there before we could... they're more technologically advanced...

The Oregon kid who is a fan of the Ducks sang the @CollegeGameday song last year...
As a follow-up, they had young Braden be their guest picker...

Corso was not suffering fools here...
#NopencilNoMercy
((HT: ESPN))

But what followed (and the HQ is sure will be making the rounds) is the kid making a better headdress than any other guest picker and Corso trying to choke out a live duck...

We think Gameday is on to something...
Even if it does scare the crap out of @KirkHerbstreit

Is Urban Meyer heading to Ohio State?

Urban Meyer
The 1st and possibly beginning question before this years Coaching Carousel starts has already popped up: Has Urban Meyer already taken the Ohio State job?

Well, according to two separate reports and several Ohio State based blogsites, the answer to that question is--Yes.

SportsbyBrooks.com and ElevenWarriors.com are both reporting that Meyer's representatives and the school have agreed in principle for Meyer to take over in Columbus, once the school receives its penalty from the NCAA. That is expected to happen in the next couple of weeks. Indeed, several other Ohio State based blogs, BuckeyeSports.com, Bucknuts.com and BuckeyeGrove.com are all speculating similar stories.

Read the SportsbyBrooks story RIGHT HERE

Read the Eleven Warriors story RIGHT HERE

All emphasize that a contract has not "Officially" been signed, only that there is an agreement for that to happen.

Several of the reports say Meyer has been quietly assembling a staff that would include current LSU offensive coordinator Greg Studwara, interim Ohio St. head coach Luke Fickell, current NC State linebackers coach Jon Tenuta and current ESPN analysts and former Buckeye's Chris Spielman and Kirk Herbstreit.

This is all very interesting and we give it some credibility for this: Brooks, who is very plugged in, used to work in Columbus and has ties there. ElevenWarriors is an Ohio State based site that was well ahead of the curve on the fallout from the Tattoo-gate scandal. And the other sites have all been very plugged in to the comings and goings in Central Ohio.

We know the Ohio State boards and Twitter feeds have been lit up with rumors of this and some going as far to say that Meyer was in Columbus this week, something that was not true. For his part Meyer said he was going to spend the year with family, devoting more time to them, but yet he was spending 3-plus days a week working for ESPN.

And while Meyer going to tOSU makes sense on a lot of levels, we don't get why Herbstreit or Speilman would. Though Speilman we could understand, he is still a football player/coach at heart. Herbstreit has gained immense popularity with his job at ESPN and is regarded as a potential huge crossover star by the network, why would he step away from that?

We'll see how this all plays out, but we think this may very well be the earliest and possibly biggest splash of this years Coaching Carousel.

Occupy This!

Today, we will do something a bit out of the ordinary and recommend you check out another site. Why you ask?

Well, because it is one of the more inspired, funny things we've seen in the past week or so.

Here's your premise: By now, we're all somewhat familiar with the "Occupy WallStreet" movement, we'll one guy came up with a "Sports" spoof of it.

The name "Occupy Herbstreit", in honor of ESPN Gameday analyst and football analyst Kirk Herbstreit.

Please take a look at the site by clicking RIGHT HERE

And you should go to the site, read the photos, they are really funny.

The signs are hilarious. And chances are most of the people at these "Occupy" events, have no idea what this guy is talking about.

His name is Shane Floppier and you can follow him on Twitter too (@LostGamedayFan). We like anything that mocks something ultra serious, and this certainly qualifies.
