A lot of people are saying the New York Jets rolled over in their loss to the Miami Dolphins Sunday which kept the Jets from having anything positive to talk about to end the season...
One of those alleged quitters: Captain Santonio Holmes...

"There were guys in the huddle not happy with Santonio's demeanor throughout the game and in the two-minute drill," said Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson. "And they said something to him about it."

DEVELOPING: ESPN Claims Rams To Fire Spagnuolo, Devaney ((UPDATED: THEY DID))

Initially, everyone and their mother thought that the 49ers would take care of the Rams withought much trouble.
There was some trouble toward the end, but not enough as a Kellen Clements injury led to a Tom Brandstatter turnover and a 34-27 win for the visitors.
As a result, another 2-14 season will not sit well with owner Stan Kroenke and he is going to fire both head coach Steve Spagnuolo and GM Billy devaney. Chris Mortensen is relying on "unnamed sources."

“I would like to personally thank Steve and Billy for their dedication to the St. Louis Rams organization over the past several seasons,” said Rams owner E. Stanley Kroenke. “This was a difficult decision for many reasons. We have tremendous respect for Steve and Billy as people and football professionals.
“No one individual is to blame for this disappointing season and we all must hold ourselves accountable. However, we believe it’s in the best interest of the St. Louis Rams to make theses changes as we continue our quest to build a team that consistently competes for playoffs and championships. We wish Steve, Billy and their families the very best in the future and thank them again for their commitment to our organization and the city of St. Louis.”

Sunday Premier: Sunderland Knocks Off ManCity
Just when you thought it couldn't get any weirder in the weekend for Premier League play...
Dong-Won Ji puts in a goal, which was questioned for an offsides position, with a few seconds left in extra time so Sunderland could take out ManCity 1-0.

So, instead of being three clear of Manchester United, eveything is still square. And the biggest benefactor might be Tottenham. The Spurs have a game in hand and are six back of both.

Utah was trailing Georgia Tech by 14 with a little over 6 Minutes to go in the Sun Bowl in El Paso. Someone forgot to tell the Utes John White IV. They converted on a 4th and 14 to tie the game and send it into overtime before knocking off the Yellow Jackets.

In Houston, there was a nice touch before the Texas Bowl where the crowd paid tribute to "Joey V"- Texas A&M lineman Joey Villavisencio. Northwestern hadn't won a bowl game in 63 years, and head coach Pat Fitzgerald, literally, had the players carry aroud a stuffed monkey for symbolism the whole week long.
A&M actually held a halftime lead for a change and won 33-22.

Auburn fans wondered where the Barrett Trotter that showed up to the Georgia Dome to play Virginia. He was lead blocker for Onterrio McCalebb, scrambled for his life for positive yardage, and actually did this...

Auburn won 43-24 with McCalebb's 109 yards and matched Kiehl Frazier's 2 rushing TD's with 2 of his own. Both teams finish 8-5.
And, finally, UCLA finished the year 6-8 after a loss in the Pac-12 title game, getting a waiver, and losing to a team who lost 6 in a row going in- and almost had 4 coaches boycott over a contract dispute.
Go Illinois... and take the Bruins with you...
But the best part of the game was pretty gross...

Report: Panthers Barch Ejected After Slur

This is the only sport that seems to have this continually disappointing angle to its machismo...
The Florida Panthers enforcer Krys Barch was apparently ejected from the Montreal Canadiens game last night after an alleged racial slur to the Habs' PK Subban.
The dust-up is at the :55 second mark...
According to FOSG Pierre LeBrun, linesman Darren Gibbs overhead the slur in question to Subban- whose parents are Jamaican.
Subban didn't hear whatever Gibbs thinks he heard and, in turn, reported to the league office. The next game for the Panthers is Thursday, so don't expect any decision until before the game.

Wife of Braves trainer killed in horrible crash

This is just a horrible story to tell.
The wife of Atlanta Braves trainer Jeff Porter was killed and Porter, along with his 19-year old son were injured when a Georgia State Patrol cruiser heading to a chase crashed into the family's SUV.
The accident happened just before 5 p.m Satursday as the Porters were heading to Saturday nights Chick-fil-a Bowl at the Georgia Dome.
The incident is being investigated, but News reports in Atlanta quote witnesses as saying the trooper ran through a red light at a high rate of speed and never slowed down before hitting the Porter's vehicle.

The Braves released a statement Saturday night: "The Braves family is deeply saddened and shocked to learn about the tragic accident today involving the family of head athletic trainer Jeff Porter and the death of his wife Kathy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jeff and Kathy's family, their son David and all their friends and loved ones."
Porter has been with the team since the mid-80's and is someone held in high regard in the organization and in baseball. He's been the teams lead trainer since 2003. According to Mark Bowman, the Braves reporter for MLB.com, team manager Fredi Gonzalez and coach Terry Pendleton have been at Porter's side since the incident.
Having covered the Braves for many years, we know how well thought of Porter is. Our thoughts and prayers and deepest sympathies go out to him and his family.
Indiana takes care of tOSU
You can arguably call the Indiana Hoosiers this years "Giant Killers".
After struggling mightily for the past several seasons, the Hoosiers have come back this season with a vengeance.
Saturday, they beat the #2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes 74-70, raising their record to 13-1 and undoubtedly improving their #13 ranking. Indiana made news earlier this season when they beat then #1 Kentucky back in early December.
Christian Watford dropped a couple of free throws with just under 3 seconds to go to seal the deal against the Buckeyes and this time, the fans in Bloomington showed restraint...and didn't storm the floor.
