Morning Wrap: Clemson Destroys Oklahoma in Bowl Game

((ht: espn.com))

Rumors of the ACC's weakness in football may be greatly exaggerated.

Either that or the Oklahoma Sooners and/or the Big 10 have a big problem.

The Clemson Tigers rolled to an early 40-0 lead and cruised home to a 40-6 Russell Athletic Bowl win over the reeling Oklahoma Sooners in front of 40,000 or so fans in a half-full stadium in Orlando, Florida.

QB Cole Stoudt had a career game, throwing for 319 yards and 3 TD's. He also ran for another score to lead the Tigers. Meanwhile, much hyped Oklahoma QB Trevor Knight threw for 103 yards and 3 interceptions.

It wasn't pretty. And not to diminish the dominating performance by Clemson, the loss raised a ton of questions about longtime Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops.

Stoops, once considered a coaching darling or possible NFL head coach has struggled to keep the once competitive Sooners...well, um, competitive. The team was ranked as high as #3 or #4 in the preseason and finished the year 8-5 with a ton of question marks.

As for Clemson, while it wasn't a title winning year, the Tigers won 10 games for the 4th straight season under head coach Dabo Swinney.

Ole Miss Signee Chad Kelly Arrested in Buffalo (Updated with Video)

((ht: buffalonews.com))

Chad Kelly has some issues that need to be dealt with before he should be allowed to play college football.

The oft-travelled 20-year old Kelly, nephew of former Buffalo Bills QB Jim Kelly was arrested early Sunday morning in Buffalo after a skirmish at a local bar.

Chad Kelly recently (Wednesday) signed a scholarship offer with Ole Miss after a successful 2014 season at East Mississippi Junior College, winning the NJCAA title. Kelly was there in large part because in early 2014, he was kicked off the Clemson roster after arguing with coaches during the teams spring game.

And according to several reports, Kelly had issues in High School as well.

His latest incident came after he refused to leave a downtown Buffalo restaurant and bar sometime after 3 a.m Sunday morning. Reports say he punched a bouncer in the face. A 21-year old friend of Kelly's who had already been tossed from the place was trying to go back in when the melee ensued.

According to the Buffalo News, Kelly told the bouncer; "I'm going to go to my car and get my AK-47 and spray this place".

Kelly then left Encore when police stopped him down the street. He reportedly threw punches when officers tried putting him in a squad car.

Kelly is facing multiple charges.

No word yet from Ole Miss on what they'll do with Kelly, but it will be interesting to see how they handle it.

The Rebels are looking to replace graduating starter Bo Wallace and with Kelly's credentials in Junior College, he certainly would have a shot at the job. However he also appears to have some issues. How those issues are dealt with now becomes the question.

Updated: There's now video of the brawl outside Encore. While Kelly's lawyer is quick to say that the audio clears his client, said audio is very hard to hear outside someone yelling "Chill dude". This probably will not help as much as the lawyer thinks--

Reports: Chad Morris Will Be The Man at SMU

((ht: usatoday.com/sports))

Let the Coaching Carousel begin. Reports began surfacing Thursday night that Clemson's offensive coordinator and target of many a job rumor Chad Morris may have a head coaching gig lined up.

The job: At SMU.

Yes, the same SMU that is 0-10 with little chance of winning a game this season.

USA Today Sports says Morris, a former Texas High School coach would replace June Jones who left on his own after two games this season.

USA Today says SMU has no deal in place with anyone, but it sounds an awful lot like one is being negotiated.

It should be noted Morris is also the highest paid assistant in College Football making over $1.3 million a year.

Read the USA Today story RIGHT HERE

If indeed Morris is the man in Mustang land, it lends more credence--and fuel to the rumors that his current boss, Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney may be the man at the University of Florida.

Which would create all kinds of chaos as the December college coaching carousel begins to swirl in full motion...

Things You Can't Unsee: Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney Doing the Happy Dance

((ht: cbssports.com))

Whoa! On a day where you should never say you've seen it all, somehow a video like this pops up and reassures us that the Internet always gives....

We won't go into a lengthy description of this video other than to say "Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney, Clemson Homecoming, Dabo Dances to Happy".

Yeah...some others appear in the video and while the lip synch is really, really badly edited there is little bad you can say about the Pharrell song because really, we do feel better after hearing it...

If we could just get Dancing Dabo out of our brains...

The Buffalo Bills Love Clemson Playmakers. Bills Select Sammy Watkins At #4, Joins C.J. Spiller

Sammy Watkins
Four years ago the Buffalo Bills were infatuated with former Clemson playmaker C.J. Spiller. Another talented Tiger was on the board for 2014

The Bills coveted Sammy Watkins but their number nine draft position was too low for a football player with elite speed and great hands.

The Bills would need to make a bold move and did trading draft positions with the Cleveland Browns for this year draft and giving the Browns their first and fourth round picks in 2015.

"We went into this draft saying we were going to be bold, and we made a bold move." Bills President and CEO Russ Brandon told the Buffalo News.

That also means Watkins is now teammates with C.J. Spiller who provided similar thrills for Clemson fans.

"This is just unbelieveable." Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said.  "Two of the greatest players in Clemson history are now teammates."

Swinney added, "This could not be a better situation for Sammy.   The first thing I said to Sammy's mother is that he could not have a better mentor than C.J. Spiller. He'll show Sammy the ropes."

In fact a total of five Clemson Tigers are on the Bills roster now that Sammie Watkins has been picked. Safety Jonathan Meeks and offensive linemen Antoine McClain and Chris Hairston were the Bills colors.

Not that the Bills are looking for a quarterback but Tajh Boyd is still on the board.

Mark Gaughan and Tim Graham from the Buffalo News say this move by the Bills means they want to win now and make a playoff push.

Clemson P.D Arrests 18-Year Old for Howard's Rock Vandalism

Micah Rogers/Courtesy: WYFF-TV
((ht: tigernet.com))

Things like this reaffirm our faith that there are tons of idiots living life alongside us.

18-year old Micah Rogers of Pigsah Forest, North Carolina was arrested and charged with felony malicious injury to animals or personal property, misdemeanor trespassing and unlawful entry into enclosed places.

The reason Rogers faces these charges in Clemson, South Carolina: Police say he's the person responsible for vandalizing Howard's Rock.

Read about that RIGHT HERE

For those unfamiliar, Howard's Rock is the symbol used by Clemson football players for luck as they run into the football stadium.

More on the arrest from TigerNet.com RIGHT HERE

Rogers was charges, arraigned and released on bond.

The question though is: Why? Is he that stupid? Is he just mean or malicious? Is he a University of South Carolina fan?

The answer thus far to all this is no. He allegedly was seen on surveillance video and by witnesses on the scene. And supposedly, he had a Clemson bumper sticker on his car.

The surveillance video: RIGHT HERE

We guess answers will come in time.

WHNS-TV has our press conference to announce the arrest:
