Okay...
The HQ has long known that Mike Leach has a penchant for passing that very few of us can comprehend...
Law degrees from Pepperdine will do that for you...
But Connor Halliday may become the college football equivalent of former Florida State pitcher Richie Lewis if he keeps up like this...
Lewis, for those of you who don't remember, was put on the mound in Omaha for the clinching game in the College World Series on less-than-normal rest (2 days, the HQ thinks), throwing an ungodly amount of pitches in a loss, and was not the same pitcher when he was drafted by Montreal.
Tired arm and all that...
Halliday went for 734 yards- AND STILL LOST...
Here's the highlights, which presumably, could last til mid-week.
Kevin Calabro and Yogi Roth discuss
Cal's Jared Goff completed 47 of 53 passes for 527 yards and five touchdowns, also without an interception. Combined, Halliday and Goff set a new single-game FBS record for total passing yards with 1,261. And the all-NCAA mark is 736 yards set by D3's Sam Durley of Eureka-Illinois.

Charlie Weis Fired at Kansas
The Charlie Weis era at Kansas is over.
The former Notre Dame head coach, University of Florida offensive coordinator and former offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots was fired Sunday morning after compiling a 6-22 record at Kansas in 3 seasons.
The school announced Defensive Coordinator Clint Bowen will be the interim coach for the rest of the 2014 season.
From athletic director Sheahon Zenger; "I appreciate what Coach Weis did with several facets of our football program," Zenger continued. "But we have not made the on-the-field progress we believe we should. I believe new leadership gives our coaches and players the best chance to make a fresh start."
Read the entire press release from the school RIGHT HERE
This is likely the end of Weis' head coaching career. He's considered by most a pretty decent guy, but not someone capable of being successful running a top tier D-1 program.
Though we should add he struggled in Gainesville at Florida as offensive coordinator as well. He's got 2-years left on his deal with the struggling Jayhawks who have been one of college football's worst teams over the past 5 years.
Weis is also officially the 1st coach fired this season.

Has Brady Hoke Reached Turbo-Fired Status Yet...???
((HT: Pac-12 Network))
So, just how fired is Brady Hoke right now...???
We ask because after a 26-10 loss to UTAH... yes, UTAH!!!
Rich Rodriguez is 4-0 and Michigan is not...
Here's the big story from the Big House
So, the HQ guesses you could say both the weather and Utah stopped the Wolverines.

Was It The "Coward's Way Out?"
((HT: NBC Sports/NTRA))
California Chrome's co-owner, Steve Coburn, was asked post-race by NBC's Bob Nussmeier about the run of his horse when he tied for fourth in the Belmont Stakes- falling short of the Triple Crown of horse racing... again...
Sufficed to say, Coburn was less than diplomatic...
So, faithful reader...
Was it the coward's way out...??? Is Coburn right or is it all about getting your shot and blocking the opportunities of others...??? You tell us...

Another Oilers Sweater Makes Ice Fall
((HT: Sportsnet))
Things are really bad in Edmonton right now when you look at their on-ice product...
Dallas Eakins has that look on his face that alternates from bemusement to amusement to general pissdom on a daily basis...
And the fans are tossing gear on the ice to express their general displeasure
Last night was another example of it...
The HQ sees the irony in that the sweater was handed to Eakins as he left the ice surface...
The Oilers have now lost 6 in a row and are 7 points adrift from Calgary at the bottom of the Western Conference

Clemson Win Should Be Vacated NOW...
((HT: Steve DaVisor))
That's the title of the Youtube entry...not a personal opinion
And, once again, the HQ will preface this by saying that the Sakerlina hat that Steve is wearing might be the dead giveaway in all of this...
But Steve has a theory as to why Georgia REALLY lost the game to Clemson
And it's a mighty theory... and it's mighty NSFW
See...???
We told you it was a mighty theory...
