Donald Sterling Needs To Stop, Barkley Addresses It...

((HT: TMZ Sports))

Somehow, and the HQ has an idea how, an audio recording surfaced where it appears that (someone who might be) LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling cannot get out of his own way- again...

When he first bought the Clips in 1981, he didn't invest in them and they were an awful franchise...

Then, he invested, and you see how things are when you leave the franchise alone and let people do their job...

But, Sterling just reinforced he is an old, white owner with plantation tendencies...

Here is an exchange with his current girlfriend, V. Stiviano, about her Instagramming habits that included a picture of Magic Johnson. Sterling didn't like Stiviano- who is of mixed race- having blacks on her account...and doesn't want them at HIS games.

There's an obvious background that we all have no idea about that caused "someone" to record the conversation in the first place. But, regardless of the recording surfacing, one person being aware or two (which lends itself to the legality of the recording in some states in the first place)- the content is troubling...

Very troubling... from an older, white gentleman discussing the races...

NBA spokesman Mike Bass had this statement: "We are in the process of conducting a full investigation into the audio recording obtained by TMZ. The remarks heard on the recording are disturbing and offensive, but at this time we have no further information."

Sterling has a history of not playing well with others. In 2006, he was sued by the Justice Department for allegations of housing discrimination in the Koreatown part of Los Angeles. Three years later, he was told to pay almost $3-million to settle the case. And in 2011, he was involved in an age discrimination case with his former GM, Elgin Baylor. Sterling would, eventually, win that case.

Ugh...

Charles Barkley was Charles Barkley and he was 100-percent correct...as were Shaq, Kenny, and EJ...

Davone Bess Quickly Working On Police Hat Trick

((HT: Pro Football Talk))

First, it was (while being on the Cleveland Browns reserve-non football injury list) flashing photos of himself with his current friend "Wacky Tobackee..."

Which he has apparently done twice this season...
Evidence right, thanks to Bess' Instagram account...

Now, while at the Fort Lauderdale International Airport this morning, it is now reported that he was arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer. Bess was booked into the Broward County Jail, where he is being held pending a bond hearing.

Bess' sheet is up to three charges from the morning incident: assault on an officer/firefighter, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

Which would seem to go hand-in-hand...

Bess has been on the Browns reserve list for the last two games of the 2013 season and is, according to sources, has been dealing with "serious personal issues..."

NASCAR Fines Piquet, Junior For Instagram Slur

((HT: NASCAR their own selves))

Nelson Piquet Jr. has been fined $10,000, is required to participate in sensitivity training as directed by NASCAR, and was placed on indefinite probation for violating the sanctioning body’s Code of Conduct policy.

On September 25, Piquet violated Sections 7-5 (Code of Conduct) and 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) of the 2013 NASCAR rule book by posting an anti-gay slur on Instagram. Piquet commented on a photo that fellow Nationwide Series driver Parker Kligerman posted of himself, and he used a three-letter slur as a one-word description of Kligerman.

You can pretty much guess what the word was...
The post was subsequently deleted...

“Nelson Piquet Jr. recently communicated an offensive and derogatory term that cannot be tolerated in our sport,” said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR senior vice president of racing operations. “NASCAR’s Code of Conduct explicitly spells out in the 2013 rule book our position regarding the use of disparaging terms. We expect our entire industry to abide by this Code.”

Piquet apologized rather quickly...

"I sincerely apologize to everyone for my poor choice of words last week. I did not mean to hurt or offend anyone."

"This has been a cultural learning experience that will make me a more sensitive person moving forward."

Turner Scott Motorsports said in a statement it had addressed the issue with Piquet, who understood the team does not tolerate such remarks.

"TSM expects those associated with the team to uphold professional standards that we can all be proud of. Nelson has assured the team that he has learned his lesson and he knows what it means to represent TSM."

It's not the first time this season that Piquet was drawn attention to himself...
Witness the place-kicking event that he had with Brian Scott...

Interpret as You Will: Alabama Recruit Waving Wads of Cash

Dee Liner on Left
((ht: sportingnews.com))

We'd now like to open the floor to questions from the audience. Please feel free to discuss after reading the story and seeing the photo.

Take a look at the Instagram photo on your right. In it, you'll see Alabama freshman recruit Dee Liner flashing rather large piles of cash along with his friends. The attached hashtag--#StruggleOverWit. It was uncovered by a website called "College Spun.com".

It's not clear where or how young Mr. Liner came upon this sudden windfall, but the youngster from Muscle Shoals has been rather popular, or at least well known in the state of Alabama.

He originally committed to Auburn back in January, but then de-committed after the departure of former coach Gene Chizik.

Just a few weeks later, he ended up signing with Alabama or the team known as Auburn's chief rival.

We are NOT saying the Liner has done anything wrong. Other than posting a really dumb picture on Instagram that's already attracting some unwanted attention. What we are saying is: Let's hope this is something perfectly innocent and Liner unknowingly posted a photo that is giving people a chance to make the wrong assumption.

But considering the cynical nature of College Football recruiting, particularly in the SEC, it's not hard to assume the first impression is right.
