You'll remember that Bryan Stow was a Giants fan who was beaten severely Opening Day of 2011 by Dodgers fans at Dodger Stadium. He spent months in hospital and even more in rehabilitation trying to regain even the simplest of motor functions.
He feels the Dodgers were responsible for not having enough security to protect himself, his friends, and family and has taken the matter to civil court in Los Angeles.
Gigi Graciette is outside the courthouse for the jury selection phase as Stow goes after the McCourts

McCourts Back In McSuperior Court
A court hearing is scheduled in downtown Los Angeles as Jamie McCourt thinks her ex-husband, Frank, wasn't all that forthright in telling her what the value of the Dodgers was at the time of their divorce proceedings.
She's suing for an additional 770 million dollars.
She initially settled for $131-million since she went on the advice/evidence that Frank McCourt testified his assets were worth only $300-million. Frank McCourt then sold the Dodgers for $2-point-1 billion dollars. Jamie McCourt says she should be awarded at least 900 million dollars.
Here's Hal Eisner in front of the courtroom...

The HQ would like to remind Ms. McCourt about all the debt she and her husband incurred as owners of the team and how much they used the team coffers as their personal piggy bank.
This case should be dismissed fairly quickly...

Dodgers Now Out Of McCourt's Hands
((HT: MyFoxLA))
And there was much rejoicing...
Magic Johnson now becomes the league's first African-American owner...
And, for that, the HQ likes the sale a whole lot...
Here's Bob DeCastro...
Talk about two people who got out alive...
Frank McCourt is expected to clear close to a billion dollars in net profit.
Jamie McCourt was wired her $131-million divorce settlement Monday from the Dodgers' sale proceeds...
Maybe their safes can catch on fire or something...

McCourts reach settlement over Dodgers

| Frank and Jamie McCourt |
And then there was another attempt at world peace. Not to be confused with "Metta World Peace". But that is a separate story...sorry.
Yes Los Angeles, the Frank McCourt vs. Jamie McCourt divorce has finally been settled. And yes, we know that unto itself isn't much of a "Sports" story. The reason it is: Frank will pay Jamie $130 million and she in turn will relinquish any claim to her share of the LA Dodgers.
You can read more on this from the LA Times RIGHT HERE
After what was reportedly a $20-plus million dollar expenditure on legal fees, it frees up Frank McCourt to focus on his battle with Major League Baseball and Commissioner Bud Selig.
Selig has moved to have MLB take over the Dodgers with hopes of selling them to an owner with the financial wherewithal to run the club effectively.
McCourt claims he can do that, but needs a bankruptcy judge to allow Dodgers TV rights to be auctioned to the highest bidder. That would enable McCourt to run the club for a longer period of time.
Needless to say, this is far from the end of this story. It's an honest to goodness travesty as to what's happened to the storied Dodger franchise. Hopefully, somehow this will work itself out.
