ICYMI: UNC Football Spray Paints Duke Locker Room and Practice Field After Win

((ht: heraldsun.com))

Oh geez North Carolina football, can you not act like you've won a game before?

The Tar Heels had much to celebrate this past Saturday. The team beat arch-rival Duke, spoiling the Blue Devils ACC title hopes on Duke's home field. And the win got the Tar Heels bowl eligible.

But it's what happened afterwards which forced UNC head coach Larry Fedora and athletic director Bubba Cunningham to offer a full-fledged apology and offer restitution.

The reason: The Tar Heels spray painted the visitors locker room and practice fields at Duke's football practice facility next to the stadium.

The damage is estimated at over $25,000.

Cunningham and Fedora have spoken to their counterparts at Duke and offered their apologies as well.

Our partners at the ACC Digital Network provide the reason for Saturday's over zealous celebrating:

How Does North Carolina Give Up 70...???

((HT: WNCT-TV))

Larry Fedora has some 'splaining to do...

How, in the age of trying to improve your defensive stock do you do this...???

Allow East Carolina QB Shane Carden to throw for 438 yards
Allow three second quarter touchdowns, including a pick-6
Allow 789 total yards by the Pirates offense
Allow the most points scored in school history
Allow the most yards in school history

Bottom line was that the Tarheels did and it ended up being a 29-point loss (70-41) that, really, didn't even seem that close...

Here's the highlights- obviously condensed a great deal for television sake
Greenville, NC | News | Weather | Sports - WNCT.com

The American Conference now has its poster child in both Carden and East Carolina. It will be interesting to see what happens in their conference with them and, more importantly, just how much of a leash the coaching staff in Chapel Hill will have going forward.

ICYMI: Bill Snyder Faster Than Gatorade, North Carolina Faster Than Cincinnati...

((HT: Max Olson's Vine/WRALSportsfan.com))

Kansas State seemed to have no problems with Michigan and their freshman starting QB last night in Tempe- winning 31-14...

But the moment that some kept their eyes on was with 2:25 remaining when K-State head coach Bill Snyder outran his impromptu winner's shower...

Always coaching that Snyder...

And North Carolina but 16 on the board in a hurry and made very quick work of Cincinnati in Charlotte, 39-17
Tarheels coach Larry Fedora knew that, once his quarterback situation calmed down in the last half of the season, that everything would be fine...

Coaching Carousel: Ellis Johnson to Southern Miss

Ellis Johnson
((ht: saturdaydownsouth.com))

It looks like the 'ol Ball Coach will need to find a new defensive coordinator and assistant Head Coach at the University of South Carolina.

Thats because Ellis Johnson will apparently be the new head coach at Southern Mississippi.

Johnson's work with the Gamecock defense has been widely praised as they've grown into a national "Top 10" group.

According to a reports, Johnson will stick around and coach the Gamecock "D" in the Capital One Bowl versus Nebraska.

Johnson takes over for the departing Larry Fedora, who led this years Golden Eagle squad to 11-wins. Fedora is moving on to take the reins and North Carolina.

DEVELOPING: Fedora To Tar Heels?

According to OSG sources North Carolina will offer it's head football coaching position to Larry Fedora, currently the head coach at Southern Miss.

Inside Carolina.com published a tweet from former Tar Heel player Mark Paschal:

"Fedora has been offered job at UNC - no indication as of now that he will be announced as new HC today. I was misinformed ab announcement."

North Carolina's Rival.com site, TarHeelIllustrated.com is citing sources that Fedora has been offered the Tar Heel job and has been offered a contract for four years of approximately 8.8 million dollars, or 2.2 million dollars per year.

One hold-up to UNC's plans could be the Texas A&M job. Fedora was born in College Station, Texas and might be interested in retuning.

Right now it appears the search for a new Tar Heel head coach has zeroed in on Fedora.

More when we know it.
