Mascot War: Teddy Roosevelt With Flying Clothesline on Pittsburgh Pierogi

((ht:washington nationals))

Somethings you just can't make up. This really happened.

During the famed "Mascot" race at Friday nights Washington Nationals/Pittsburgh Pirates we got to see something you just don't see very often.

A pro wrestling move.

One of the Nationals most popular racers "Teddy Roosevelt" won the race and at about the time he finished, some "Pittsburgh Pierogi's" ran onto the field.

Teddy got some helpers to put down a chair, ran, hopped on the chair and took down a Pierogi with a flying clothesline that would make anyone in the WWE proud.

Oh the hilarity.

Your turn Pittsburgh...

Your Hit of the Day: By a Rugby Mascot

((ht: deadspin.com))

Ooooof...this one looks like it might actually have hurt. And according to reports, it did.

Check out what happens during a staged "Mascot" race at the US vs. Spain match during a Rugby tournament in Las Vegas.

Everything is going along swimmingly, fan vs. mascot, until the planned "hit" by Rookie the Eagle. According to the reports, the non-mascot, a guy named Alex, who was in on the stunt, got the wind knocked out of him and needed help off the field while the two mascots were celebrating.

APB: One Racing Italian Sausage Missing in Milwaukee

((ht: jsonline.com))

Milwaukee Police are on a heightened state of alert after reports that one of the town's most beloved mascots has gone missing after an alleged night of barhopping.

No, there is no truth to the rumors he was found cut to pieces in a bowl of cooked peppers and no, he wasn't found inserted in a giant roll, slathered with onions either.

It appears, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, someone stole the Giant Sausage costume, used as a part of the "Sausage Races" at Milwaukee Brewers games. During the off-season it seems you can rent the costume from a local costume shop.

Check out the JSOnline story RIGHT HERE

We are reasonably certain that unlike the recent hullabaloo surrounding the Giant Teddy Roosevelt head who broke his winless streak at Washington Nationals game, this is not a publicity stunt by the Brewers. Though in a way, it would be highly applaudable if it were.

It is kind of amusing to think of what the APB for such a thing would actually be: "Attention all cars--be on the look out for a missing person. Age unkown, wearing what appears to be a giant Italian Sausage costume. Be advised, the Sausage is known for having sprinters speed, please exercise care if found".....

Teddy Roosevelt breaks 526 game losing streak

Yeah, quite honestly, we aren't totally sure why this is being treated as HUGE news by the sporting community...yet it is.

After thought Presidential Mascot Teddy Roosevelt can now claim victory in the Washington Nationals presidential race.

Roosevelt broke his 0 for 526 slump by taking down Abe Lincoln, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson in Washington at Nationals Park.

In fact, Teddy is 0 for the life of the home team Nationals...until now. With an assist by someone dressed in a really bad Philadelphia Phillie costume.

We are sure there is some sort of deep-seated meaning in all of this, but I'm not really sure what it is...

So in lieu of that, we give you the highlights...for what they are worth. Embrace victory Teddy Roosevelt fans and wonder: What next for the embattled one?
