Long Night For Steve Nash And His Whitecaps

((HT: WorldHeadlines/MLS/Time Warner SportsNet))

MLS was in full swing last night along with the Gold Cup quarters in some cities and the late game on the west coast was a match-up between the LA Galaxy and the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The Caps had a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute when there was not a goal turned into a goal...

And, so the game is now tied at ones and the reporter for Time Warner tracks down Whitecaps part-owner Steve Nash for a quick interview.

Let's just say it spiraled out of control quickly on a bunch of different levels...
And some of this is NSFW, so keep your speakers turned away from young ears...

The Galaxy won 2-1 to help out the HQ's fantasy numbers, so we're grateful...
But, maybe, the lesson is not to have live cameras near bachelor parties...

PHX Fans Burning Nash Jerseys

Already...

Well, that didn't take long...

So, the HQ wants to get this straight...

A well-respected member of your local basketball team decides that he wants to test the free-agent waters, gets a great deal, and will now be playing for your arch-enemy- the Los Angeles Lakers...

Phoenix Suns fans are now venting their frustrations over Steve Nash leaving to go to LA... and it goes a little something like this...
((HT: ABC15 Phoenix))

Stay classy, Phoenix... By the way, Nash didn't want to move his family FROM PHOENIX in the first place... they're staying...

If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the owners of the Suns for not investing enough to make it a viable franchise in the Western Conference...

Steve Nash: "Batsanity" (Video)

Okay, so we were a little rough on Mr. Nash earlier today after hearing that he was traded to the LA Lakers.

Sorry, Steve, we apologize. Really, it isn't personal. You may be old in Basketball years, but you are still a funny dude.

Check out this video on Nash's YouTube page: Nash, Camera, Action. It's part of an ongoing series that he does...and while maybe not "Funny or Die" good, it's pretty funny unto itself.

Here is our hero doing: BatSanity!

In Case You Missed It: Steve Nash to the Lakers: Why does it matter?

Steve Nash
It really doesn't matter nearly as much as the NBA press would lead you to believe.

For those out celebrating the 4th on Wednesday, you may have missed the news that the Phoenix Suns traded franchise cornerstone Steve Nash to the LA Lakers for 4 future draft picks.

And yes, as soon as it was announced, the NBA Writing world was swooning. Nash, who is about to turn 37-years old averaged 12.5 points and 10.7 assists last season. Sure, he will make the Lakers somewhat better than they were in 2012.

But not a lot.

At this point you are all saying "You are an idiot" "You don't know what you are talking about" "Just shut-up dude".

And to that I say: Think about it.

Nash is good, but he isn't the Nash of 2005. Or 2007. Like I said, he does make the Lakers better...but the problem is: He makes the Lakers OLDER.

Much OLDER.

Kobe will be 35 next season. And he has a LOT of mileage on him. Metta World Peace (crazy Ron) will be 34, Pau Gasol 33.

Yes, on talent alone, the Lakers will win a majority of their games. But Steve Nash will not make them better than Oklahoma City. Steve Nash will not make them better than San Antonio. Steve Nash will get them past the 1st round of the playoffs.

This is why we are amused at the fascination with having "Names" on your team. "Names" don't win titles, great players do. And when you get a "Name" late in their career, it is a complete and total crapshoot.

You might get the player that "Name" formerly was...or you might get a washed-up, wannabe version of the player they formerly were.

No way to know until the season gets late.

Solo Versus Nash

Yes, this is a blatant promo...

But, it's still pretty cool to see Hope Solo take on Steve Nash in a sport they both love to watch and play...

Dance with that star, Nash...
