Wrestlecast 2013 Is Something To Remember...

((HT: Awful Announcing))

As fans of the sport growing up the HQ can get into a war of words with fellow fans about how the sport has changed, but there are moments of clarity and remembrance.

Like "Wrestlecast 2013" from WHAS-TV anchor Adam Lefkoe

You win, Lefkoe...
For today... although the SD Jones reference was a bit of a reach...

UPDATE: DDP, Jake The Snake, and Scott Hall...

((HT: Fox Sports South))

And, no, it's not an opening line to a joke...

Three of the most popular wrestlers of their era are hanging out together these days at Page's Accountability Crib...

It's a place for rebuilding and resurrection- for Snake, it was finding a way to put his days of abuse behind him... and it seems like he is with Page's help...

Here's their update... and there are points that aren't pretty...

If Page and his program can rebuild Jake, help Scott, and help others who went through the years of wrestling's modern day heyday and have come out the other side in horrendous shape...

Then, you go DDP...
You go... and let's hope that others can go hang out at the Accountability Crib...

"Mongo" McMichael to run for Mayor of Chicago Suburb

((ht: suntimes.com))

Please excuse us for finding this a bit amusing, but former Chicago Bear and Professional Wrestler Steve "Mongo" McMichael is running for mayor of Romeoville, Illinois.

And while he may very well be a rational, well-thought and efficient politician, it doesn't make the thought any less funny.

Mongo, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, will run against former mayor Fred Dewald (former cause he lost the job due to a DUI) and incumbent John Noak.

McMichael has settled in the community, with a Sports Bar bearing his name being one of the city's marquee attractions.

You'll recall, the former defensive lineman was one of the more visible members of the 1985, Super Bowl Champion Bears team. He also spent several years in WCW (World Championship Wrestling)

Here's Mongo, headlining in a match vs. WCW hero (and former NFL'er) Goldberg.

Enjoy your new mayor (haha)

Buff Bagwell In ICU After Car Crash

The HQ admits to still being a smark these days when it comes to pro wrestling...

We'll watch for the big ticket items, but for the most part, the writing leaves a lot to be desired and the kids today have real issues with working the stick...

Sad news, though, for one of the WCW era...

Marcus Alexander "Buff" Bagwell is in intensive care at a suburban Atlanta hospital after a car crash, The accident left Bagwell with broken bones in his neck and face, and a broken jaw, when his vehicle flipped over on Monday.

Bagwell was an NWO-ite for most of the script's run and even came back from a broken neck in 1998 to keep competing.

His ties now are with something called Universal Championship Wrestling and their president, Ron Gossett, says that Buff is better off than yesterday, but he's still in ICU.

Thoughts and prayers for the Cobb County kid...
Here was the incident on "Thunder" where Rick Steiner botched a spot and broke Bagwell's neck...

DEVELOPING: Barry Windham "Near Death"

((HT: Slam.ca))

Slam's wrestling component caught up with Blackjack Mulligan, aka Bob Windham, is saying on his Facebook page that son Barry Windham is in an Intensive Care Unit in a Florida hospital.

"I have a son near death," Windham admits.
Other posts say that the 51-year-old Windham suffered a stroke.

Windham broke into the NWA and was a staple in the WCW days as well before moving over to the WWF/WWE. The HQ remembers Windham in his hey-day and appreciated his athleticism that went with his frame...

Kinda like this...
((HT: WCW/youtube))

Thoughts and prayers to the Windhams- as we know that parts of the family are in south Georgia and we know them through our football connections...
