Golden Gates Conference
Sonoma County and Sacramento are even-steven at 19 points, but the Gold have played one more game than the Sol. Sonoma had the weekend off and Sacramento was surprised by CD Aguiluchos, 1-0. That win moved Aguiluchos to third with 13 points- 3 ahead of Real San Jose who leap-frogged the San Francisco Stompers with their 2-0 win at Kezar Stadium.
This week, Sacramento gets the week off and we get to see if Sonoma can do something at Real San Jose.

Northwest Conference
It's still all Spartans Futbol Club with their 25 points in 9 games. But they proved their mortality in their scoreless draw at home with Seattle Sporting FC. Inter United won at home against Gorge FC 3-0 for their second win of the year to improve their point total to 8.
This week, Spartans travel to Gorge and inter travels to Sporting Seattle.
Southwest Conference
Force FC are trying to distance themselves from the pack and their 5-0 shut out win over Temecula. At 33 points, their lead is now 6 points over San Diego Flash who, shockingly, gave Del Rey City their first point of the season in a 2-2 draw.

SportSpeak SoCal's Jesse Mogle, by the way, spent some time with the Flash recently and here's what he found out visiting the squad.
Flash host FC Hasental, who are coming off a 2-0 win over FC Santa Clarita, and are at 24 points. Temecula host Del Rey City and Force travel to Santa Clarita.

NPSL West Week 3 Review/Preview
Golden Gates Conference
It's two halves- the two teams up top and the three teams below...
Sacramento and Sonoma County are three points apart, but Sonoma actually beat the gold last week to draw closer, 19-16. CD Aguiluchos knocked off Real San Jose 3-1 to move to third with 10 points. San Francisco Stompers are fourth with 8 and RSJ are last one point back.
This week, Sonoma County have to sit while Sacramento play CDA. Real San Jose and San Francisco battle it out at the bottom of the table.

It's still Spartans Football Club and everybody else. 8 games, 8 wins, 30 goals scored and a GD of plus-26. Seattle Sporting FC is safely in second with 13 points. inter united and Gorge FC are a distant third and fourth. Last week, Spartans beat Inter 2-0 and Seattle put 6 on Gorge FC.
This week, it's one versus two and three versus four: Spartans host Seattle and Inter United host Gorge

FC Force still only have the one blemish on the record at 9-0-1 and are four points clear of San Diego Flash. The Flash have to consider every game a must-win to the end of the season to keep in step with Force and stay ahead of FC Hasental.

NPSL Western Week 2 Review-Preview: May 23-26
Golden Gates Conference
Sacramento Gold are off and running and only Sonoma County can catch them...
8 games in and the Gold are 6-1-1 and 6 points clear of the Sol. They're also a plus-16 so far. They knocked off both Real San Jose and San Francisco in the last week 1-0 and 2-0. They host Sonoma County in an already-must win situation for the Sol.
CD Aguiluchos, San Jose, and San Francisco are already jockeying for third, fourth, and last only separated by a point.

Seattle Sporting FC is second, but only have ten points on the year. That could be padded with their game with Gorge FC this weekend. Gorge FC are winless and have a goal difference of minus-17.

It's a three-team race with FC Force, the San Diego Flash, and FC Hasental.
Force are in the middle of a four-game homestand and should add another three points to their totals with the game against cellar-dwelling Del Rey City. DRC are winless in nine with a minus-26.
The San Diego Flash are second, four points back with 20, and got a big win over Hasental last weekend 2-1. Brandon Zuniga scored twice in the 46th and 61st minutes. next up for the Flash is a match against FC Santa Clarita who they beat 6-2 back on May 2nd.

The Western teams in the NPSL, for those unfamiliar, play more regular season games than the rest of the country. So, the numbers will be a bit bigger when it comes to the standings...
Sacramento leads with 16 points and a goal difference of plus-15 after seven matches. They beat Real San Jose 2-0 last time out and get the San Fran Stompers this weekend. Sonoma County is three points back in second. They shut out San Fran 2-0 last week and host CD Aguiluchos. The Stompers are third with 8 points while San Jose and CD each have seven points. Real has the week off since they have already played 8 games this season.
Back on the 10th, the Stompers and CD tied at 1. Greivin Pacheco sent this PK home for the tying goal

The team here in the early going is the Spartans Football Club out of Vancouver, Washington. 6 games, 6 wins, and a goal differential of plus-20. They've scored 6, 5, and 4 goals three times this season. They get to travel to Gorge FC, who are at the bottom of the table at 0-2-4.
Seattle Sporting FC plays Inter United FC in the other division match-up. Seattle are 8 points back of Spartans and 6 ahead of Inter going in.

The biggest match-up last week had the top two teams going at it- FC Force and the San Diego Flash. In the end, it was a 3-1 win for the Force for the Flash's first loss of the season. Here's the last little bit, thanks to Luis Reyes
Flash Head Coach Warren Barton said post-match:
“We went into the match knowing the magnitude and what was at stake, but could not capitalize on our opportunities. We really wanted to leave with a win knowing in the back of our minds the next two matches were not going to be any easier.”
Next up for the Flash is a match against FC Hasental- who come in to the match in Thousand Oaks at 6-0-3 and a matching GD of plus-19. Hasental put on on cellar-dwelling Del Rey City last week and are two points back of San Diego. DRCSC are still winless with a goal difference of minus-26. They play Temecula FC while FC Santa Clarita go to FC Force.
