Goddard High in Kansas had a high school football game Friday night, but the talk wasn't a whole lot about the game on the field.
It appears that four players on the Goddard football team are suspected in the alleged kidnapping and associated sex crimes of a teenage girl earlier this summer. They were arrested and booked into a local Juvenile Detention Facility later last week on two felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child and aggravated indecent liberties with a child, plus one misdemeanor count of criminal restraint.
Goddard was missing some starters in their game this week with Clearwater, and fans and parents were connecting their dots.
Here's the lead story out of Wichita
The four suspects have not been formally charged. Those will, probably, be presented to the district attorney's office Monday.

Varlamov Appears In Court
((HT: The Denver Channel/7News))
Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov appeared in a Denver court this morning to answer the kidnapping and assault charges that were brought against him by his girlfriend of four years...
Here's a copy of the arrest warrant...
Kieran Nicholson and Sadie Gurman of the Denver Post were in the courtroom and found out details of the arrest as Varlamov's bond was set at $5,000.
His girlfriend, whose name is redacted from police reports, said Varlamov kicked her in the chest and knocked her down, then stomped on her while she was on the ground. He grabbed her by the hair and dragged her out of her bedroom and held her face to the floor, according to the affidavit and arrest warrant. He also grabbed her by her arms and shook her and pushed her down again, she told police.
The girlfriend had been concerned about Varlamov's behavior because she says he had been drinking. It is also reported in the arrest report that Varlamov said "if this were Russia, he would have beat her more."
Here's the look from inside the courtroom this morning...
Right now, JS Giguere is set to start in goal for the Avalanche for their next game. Varlamov's attorney is claiming his client will have his day in court to prove the innocence that his agent, Paul Theofanous, is reinforcing with anyone willing to listen...
Like he would do something else...???

GTA V Reenactments Do Not Equal Real Life
Because if it did, a college lacrosse player might have had a little more fun...
Police in Baton Rouge arrested Auburn lacrosse player Zachary Burgess this past weekend after they said he tried to steal a car (with someone still inside of it), then told police he did it to play out a video game in real life. Burgess was, the HQ can guess, in town for the LSU-Auburn game...
This is the video game in question...
Burgess was charged him with vehicle theft, kidnapping and nine counts of hit-and-run driving.
Police said Burgess jumped into a car after its owner parked it at a local bar and left it. Burgess then hopped in and drove off with a female passenger still inside. Police said Burgess hit several other cars before the passenger managed to escape. Witnesses, apparently, stopped Burgess during his driving exhibition and kept him at the scene until police showed up.
No one was seriously hurt in the incident. Here's the mugshot (thanks, East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office)
Burgess is now up on nine counts of hit-and-run and one count each of auto theft and simple kidnapping,

Iverson Denies Kids Abduction
((HT: 11Alive))
Jeff Hullinger tracked down Allen Iverson at a suburban Atlanta hotel to discuss with him the idea that his ex-wife, Tawana, feels that he has kidnapped them...
Interesting grab by the Hull Man...
Obviously, Iverson denies everything...
Tawana has sole custody of the kids and claims Allen Iverson took the children in late May and has been living in that hotel.
Sheraton Suites... must be nice for someone who drives a Maybach, but claims he can't buy a cheeseburger
Obviously, Tawana wants the kids returned post haste...

Alabama Hoops Player Charged In Kidnapping Of Second Cousin
((HT: WTOK-TV))
Back in May, Devonta Pollard's mom was arrested for the kidnapping of elementary-school student Jashayla Hopson because the Hopsons/Fords (Hopson's mother's name is Roshell Ford) and Pollards had a land dispute with Hopson's mother. Today, police arrested Pollard and two others for conspiracy to commit the kidnapping.
Kemper County (MS) Sheriff James Moore said Pollard and Joyce Johnigan were arrested on the charge. Moore also says a third woman, Shaquayla Johnigan, was taken into custody on the same charge.
Hopson was taken from East Kemper Elementary School in April. She ended up on a rural road okay the next day. Jashayla knocked on the door of a residence on that road and the homeowner called police.
On May 1, three people were arrested, including Pollard's mother, Meridian-area basketball coach Jesse Mae Pollard. Kemper County authorities are saying Ms. Pollard came up with the scheme. The other two defendants arrested with Jesse Mae Pollard are being held without bail.
Ruth Ingram's piece in the Jackson Clarion-Ledger details what happened after Pollard allegedly picked up Hopson from the school:
Jessie Mae Pollard sent an ominous text to Ford. It read: "dont call the police I will call you later if you call the police u wont see her again."
Prosecutors say Jessie Mae Pollard dropped off Jashayla unharmed on a rural Lauderdale County road at about 1:30 p.m. May 1, telling her to wait there for her mother, then drove to Northport. Jashayla walked to a nearby Burrage Road residence, and occupants there dialed 911.
Cecil Hurt of the Tuscaloosa News reports that Mississippi TV stations are reporting the two women (Pollard and Hopson's mother) are cousins.
Got all that...???
Here's Part One of a series WTOK-TV did on Pollard's recruitment...

Spring Break Party Turns Into Rape Charges For Morehouse Athletes
((HT: 11alive.com))
Three Morehouse College basketball players have been charged with a combination of rape, aggravated sodomy, kidnapping and reckless conduct.
And the question of consent while impaired may be the hook for both the defense and the prosecution...
Eyewitness accounts have the Spring Break party celebration heading into the alleged victim telling police that she admits drinking some alcohol but says she did not use drugs, and does not remember much of what happened at the club or afterward.
Several witnesses say the victim did have sex with several men in several rooms, and one witness says the victim used a drug, and even threatened others at the party with a knife telling those around her that she "knew what she was doing."
Here's 11 Alive's in-depth report...
Morehouse students who violate the school's code of conduct and the law will receive disciplinary actions- which could go as far as being dismissed from the college.
All three basketball players are out on bond and deny their involvement in any rape through their attorney...
