If you have been following the news today, Canada took a major blow with someone who wanted to make a statement by opening fire on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. One reservist was killed and a shooter was as well.
A lockdown was just lifted on the Hill. The Prime Minister has spoken words of encouragement.
Come tomorrow, the world up north will be very different.
Hockey fans are united in their love for the sport and respecting your competition.
Tonight in Pittsburgh before the Pens-Flyers game, the Pittsburgh fans did something really cool...
Like we said...
A cool moment of profound respect...

Rick Neuheisel Parodies Led Zeppelin
((HT: Dan Patrick Show/Audience Network))
The former coach and current analyst has been known to break out his guitar from time to time when asked during his interview segments on sports talk radio...
The result is, usually, pretty solid...
He was a guest on "The Dan Patrick Show" this morning and broke out a prody of "Stairway to Heaven" having to do with his native sport- and it was a RIOT
Now, all his bosses have to do is a music video and we'd be all set...

Team Russia Hockey Sings For Sochi
((HT: Complete Hockey News))
Posting this little ditty just gives the HQ the chance to see Malkin, Kovy, and Ovi sing with some of the other legends of the sport- including Tretiak...
It's an effing riot...
This first came out back in November, but since the tournament is up and running, we figured we'd show it again...

Sarah McLachlan Sings With The Canucks
((HT: Sportsnet))
These are the perks of being an athlete...
Some times, you get to dress in a tuxedo and sing with an attractive female singing star...
As a handful of Vancouver Canucks got to do with Sarah McLachlan...
How 'bout that...???

Why Was The Singing Vendor Canned...???
((HT: Model D Media/Detroit News))
Charley Marcuse has made a bit of a career of belting out tunes at the top of his lungs at Detroit Tigers games- as a singing hot dog vendor. He's done it for 15 years at Tiger Stadium and Comerica Park and is either revered or reviled for his approach...
Like this...
But, after a 10-minute meeting with the folks who run the vending operation at Comerica, Marcuse got fired.
“It was general employee conduct,” he told Tony Paul of the Detroit News, relaying the reason he was given. “I’ve vended the same way for the past 15 years, so there’s nothing new to any of this.”
There's talk that Marcuse was fired for not putting ketchup on his hot dogs and allegedly squawking if anyone wanted ketchup on their dogs in the first place. He has always maintained that mustard and mustard only is the way...
Which the HQ has a lot of merit behind in the argument...
But there is also no secret that the Tigers thought his singing was a distraction and you could hear his tunes on the microphones that FS Detroit was using for their broadcasts...
So, there are a lot of theories. But we may never know the reason that creativity was stifled in Detroit...

Nothing Says The Holidays Like Jerry Burns Attempting To Sing
((HT: KSTP-TV))
The folks over at BringMeTheNews get credit for this one...
Admittedly, the HQ has been through various situations where we have had to fill countless sports segments with content when there's nothing else going on...
And we've given the joke about the Aloha Bowl where the game-time temp was 86 and with the wind chill- 85...
((Insert laugh track))
But the folks over at KSTP gathered a lot of local sports stars together to, ahem, sing carols...
Evidence below...
