Romine's Rough Outing As Reliever

((HT: MLB.com))

With the Tigers down 17-6 to the Twins last night, the tigers threw in the towel after their bullpen took a beating all night long.

Infielder Andrew Romine made his first career relief appearance in the bottom of the eighth inning, but he left with an ERA of 27.

He gave up a double to Kennys Vargas before giving up back-to-back home runs to Oswaldo Arcia and Trevor Plouffe. Arcia hit his second foul pole of the night in the right field bleachers.

The up side was that Romine retired three out of the next four batters, including a strikeout of Kurt Suzuki.

"Little Big League" Turns 20 With An FOSG Twist

((HT: WCCO-TV/Columbia Pictures))

The movie is twenty years old and really is making us feel old at the moment...

Timothy Busfield's-Paul Molitor character with the twinkle toes swing
Jonathan Silverman learning the value of pumping up the glove
The hidden ball trick fooling Ken Griffey, Junior
Having Randy Johnson to close a playoff game

And, of course, "Bite Me!"

The star of the movie was invited back in town to celebrate and there's even an FOSG twist at the end of the story

But, there's always math we have to deal with, isn't there...???

Twins Escobar Goes Bat Launcher

((HT: MLB.com))

The Twins Eduardo Escobar didn't have enough pine tar on his bat, obviously...

Hopefully, he will have learned from this lesson today and apply more the next time

Here's A Birthday Gift For Mom...

((HT: Fox Sports/MLB/Sportsnet))

It was the birthday for the mother of the Twins' Chris Colabello...

So, what's a good gift during an at-bat where the parents are being interviewed in real time...???

Guess...

How about that...???

The Most Out-of-Control Half-Inning On The Mound Ever

((HT: Deadspin/MLB))

The HQ has a lot of friends north of the border and all we saw on the Twitter machine was the live responses to this...
It broke down like this... A franchise-record 8 walks in the 8th inning over three pitchers- Delabar, Santos, and JA Happ... A reliever who throws three wild pitches in Santos... The at-bats went this way... Steve Delabar started the inning walk walk sac bunt Pitching Change: Santos for Delabar walk wild pitch walk and wild pitch stolen base walk and wild pitch Pitching Change: Happ for Santos- Santos does not retire a batter stolen base walk walk single walk strikeout groundout John Gibbons got to talk about it after the game and reliever Steve Delabar states the obvious

Dollar Bill Drop, Y'all... Causes Delay In Seattle

((HT: ROOT/MLB))

It's the very rare instance that causes a baseball game to slow down than the action itself...

Happened yesterday at SoDo when the Twins were playing the Mariners...

In the 7th inning stretch, something called the $5k Tailgate released $6-grand in $1 from the upper deck of the stadium and caused everyone to look skyward and grab what they could. The Tailgate will let you run a race doused in Seahawks-colored paint before the Sunday Night game against San Francisco that is their home opener.

Their website crashed as a result...

Here's one of the announce teams trying to figure out what's going on...

Nothing Says The Holidays Like Jerry Burns Attempting To Sing

((HT: KSTP-TV))

The folks over at BringMeTheNews get credit for this one...

Admittedly, the HQ has been through various situations where we have had to fill countless sports segments with content when there's nothing else going on...

And we've given the joke about the Aloha Bowl where the game-time temp was 86 and with the wind chill- 85...

((Insert laugh track))

But the folks over at KSTP gathered a lot of local sports stars together to, ahem, sing carols...

Evidence below...

See...???

Rangers Sprint... Off The Field...

((HT: MLB/FSRangers))

This is what happens when thunder gets near a ballpark...
Just look at Roy Oswalt and Mike Napoli...

The HQ doesn't really care about what the final score was in the game between the Rangers and twins... this was just an interesting side bar...

Carry on...

The HQ doesn't know whether to do the Mauer Shake or just be flat-out frightened...
Decide for yourself...

Hamburger Fighting For Space On Rangers Menu

((HT: KARE-TV))

Some of us at the HQ wish we could have been part of the "Show..."

Had we stuck with it, who knows...???

Mark Hamburger spent one year in JuCo ball, attended a Minnesota Twins tryout camp, and the story picks up from there...

Dave Berggren catches up with the pitcher and his dad...

There are so many jokes, and the pitcher is all in for them...
But, rest assured, the leftie is no joke...
