Super Clasico Friendly Really Wasn't...Brawls, Injuries, Ejections In Vegas...

((HT: KLAS-TV))

When Club America and Chivas Guadalajara play each other, it's simply a blood feud...

They're the two most celebrated soccer clubs in Mexico and their fans and teams don't like each other. Someone came up with the idea of having the two play each other in Las Vegas for a friendly...

Which led to a lot of fans throwing everything at each other an hour before kickoff and things being thrown inside the stadium onto the pitch at players after the players got into a fight themselves and the game was finally over...

And here...
((HT: DANY10009))

Classy... a little background...

Club America is owned by media group Televisa and they play home games at Azteca Stadium- the largest stadium in Latin America. Conventional wisdom is that CA is the most hated team in Mexico. Kinda like the Yankees...

Chivas plays at Estadio Omnilife in Guadalajara.

The fans weren’t the only ones who wanted to fight on Wednesday night. Four players from the two teams were ejected during the match. 400 fans were involved in the fights and it took 120 cops to break the whole evening up...

Here are the player ejections and the row from the first half...

When Goalies Attack And Don't Think You're Really Hurt

((HT: Talksport/Digisport Romania))

This is what happens when situations get a little more than volatile...

You saw last time out in the eastern conference finals what everyone thinks about flopping...
Not a fan...

So, when athletes think other athletes are taking it easy and trying to take advantage of a situation, you get this...

In a Romanian league game between two teams called Petrolul and Gaz Metan, Gaz Metan striker Thaer Bawab goes down with- something... a flat tire, a cramp to his Achilles, something...

Petrolul goalkeeper, Mircea Bornescu, takes a chunk out of the dude when the pile gets together to encourage the guy to get up and stop faking...

The end result was 11 yellow cards, six reds, and 15 minutes of extra time.

OSG High: Utah Soccer Referee Passes Away From Punch (UPDATED)

((HT: Fox 13 Salt Lake City))

Soccer referee Ricardo Portillo, who was punched by a 17-year-old player, has passed away according to Unified Police. He had been in a coma since the attack back on April 27, and died Saturday night at a local Salt Lake City medical facility.

Here's the story where Fox caught up with the referee's daughter...

Portillo had given the player, who is a minor and has not been publicly identified, a yellow card for a foul. The player then punched Portillo once in the face. He sat down and began vomiting blood.

"He was laying on the ground, on his left side in a fetal position," Officer Jason Huggard wrote in the police report according to the Salt Lake City Tribune newspaper. "Ricardo was complaining of pain in his face, back and [of] being nauseated. ... He had spit up a small amount of blood in his saliva."

The minor is in the Salt Lake Valley Detention Center on an aggravated assault charge, but it is anticipated that the charges will be escalated and added to before any new court appearance.

WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said his office will seek to have 17-year-old Jose Domingo Teran certified as an adult and charged with homicide by assault a third-degree felony. Teran was charged in juvenile court.

Who Knew Vuvuzuelas Could Be Dangerous...???

((HT: MattMZansi/Fox Soccer))

The one annoying thing about the 2010 World Cup was all that infernal noise...
From the vuvuzuela...

Now, we know they can be used as flagellants...

In a South African league game with Kaiser Chiefs and Golden Arrows, someone got really hot about a red card...
So, that meant "Attack of the Vuvuzuelas..."

Here's your weapon...

Fair, right...???
All the more reason to outlaw you, my dear...

OSG High: High School Soccer Fight! High School Soccer Fight!

((HT: NWCT-Twelve.TV/KARE11))

Prairie Seeds High and Totino-Grace played a tight 2-1 game last Thursday night, and it ended with a bunch of fists and a bunch of kids probably getting suspended if they're not seniors...

It's now in the hands of the po-po...

But it gets better...

The Minnesota State High School League investigated and found that a transfer student athlete to Prairie Seeds was not qualified because a student transfer form was not filled out. The MSHSL disqualified Prairie Seeds as a result and is looking into as many as ten Prairie Seeds players involved with the fight will be suspended.

Here was the initial report from late last week...

More when we know more...
