55 Schools Under Title IX Sexual Assault Probe

This can't be good...

A Department of Education probe went as far as releasing the names of 55 colleges and universities currently being looked at for their handling (or lack thereof) of sexual assault cases on campus.

Just because the school was named in the report doesn't mean there is a violation. But is does mean that the DoE is looking into something on campus...

“We hope this increased transparency will spur community dialogue about this important issue,” said Catherine E. Lhamon, assistant secretary for civil rights. “I also want to make it clear that a college or university’s appearance on this list and being the subject of a Title IX investigation in no way indicates at this stage that the college or university is violating or has violated the law.”

President Barack Obama created a task force to look at the issue after hearing complaints about the treatment of rape victims on college campuses. The results were released this week.

Title IX itself, as part of its language, prohibits discrimination in schools that get federal funding. Funds can be withheld if serious violations of Title IX are found by these investigations. But that really hasn't happened as a consistent by-product of digging...

A website is now up, notalone.gov, offering information to victims about past enforcement actions on campuses. Their lead paragraph:

Information for students, schools, and anyone interested in finding resources on how to respond to and prevent sexual assault on college and university campuses and in our schools.

Obama Foursome Gets Hole-In-One

Senator Bob Corker (R-TN), Mark Udall (D-CO), and retiring Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) played with President Obama. And it was Chambliss who got the ace on the 11th hole...

"We had a delightful day of golf with folks who enjoy playing the game," Chambliss said in a statement released by his office. "We talked some business, but it was mainly a day for everyone to get away from the office for a little while."

John Rocker Wants To Emulate Alex Jones

Jones, in a modern context is this guy- the one who wanted CNN host Piers Morgan deported for his platform in light of what happened in Newtown, Connecticut. He is also the guy who actually, to his credit, went on Morgan's show for some on-air jousting...

Former major league baseball reliever John Rocker writes a column for something known as the "World Net Daily..." an unabashedly conservative website that allows Rocker to respect Jones and, at the same time, say things like this... Mr. Obama wants to severely neuter the Second Amendment and disarm the law-abiding citizens of this nation, a similar act of tyrants throughout the 20th century such as Stalin, Mao and Hitler. Absolute certainties are a rare thing in this life, but one I think can be collectively agreed upon is the undeniable fact that the Holocaust would have never taken place had the Jewish citizenry of Hitler’s Germany had the right to bear arms and defended themselves with those arms.
The HQ will admit that as long as there are platforms espousing political viewpoints in this country, this country will remain the best, ever-evolving experiment in the world for freedom and the demonstration of a republic you'll ever see...

But it also means that guys like Rocker will have said platform...

Former College FB Player Apologizes For Racist Tweet

File this in the "too little, too late" department for Social Darwinism...

Bradley Patterson, who at the time was a walk-on football player at the University of North Alabama, tweeted a message

(pictured with the racist word blurred, right- thanks WAFF-TV)that refers to President Obama in a really stupid, racist characterization.

Patterson was not happy his football game was pulled over to CNBC and NBCSports Network when the President spoke to the people of Newtown, Connecticut.

Less than 45 minutes later, Patterson received a call from the UNA head coach saying he was done...

Mark Linder, UNA Athletic Director, then went to Twitter himself to defend his school and not Patterson's action...

Patterson then felt, way too late, to apologize...

Tim Thomas Exercises Free Speech By Lack Of Assembly

It was that day for the Boston Bruins...

They got to meet the Commander-in-Chief, give him an honorary sweater, take pictures, and go on their merry way. But one of the two Americans on the squad, all-everything goalie Tim Thomas, decided not to show and join the group.

GM Peter Chiarelli tried to convince him otherwise, but #TimThomaswouldntgo...

Here's Thomas' explanation as to why...

"I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People.

This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government.

Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL.

Duke Hoopster Leaving Obama Administration

Reggie Love, the former Duke basketball player who has been President Obama's personal assistant is leaving the White House by the end of the year, a person familiar with his decision said.

Love joins David Axelrod, press secretary Robert Gibbs, deputy press secretary Bill Burton and deputy communications director Jen Psaki as leaving the administration.

Love, as the president's "body man" has job requirements that include everything from carrying copies of the president's speeches, his iPod, and a steady supply of gum, newspapers and aspirin, to taking photos for audience members as they shook the president's hand.

"I have an iReggie, who has my books, my newspapers, my music, all in one place," Obama said in an interview last year.
