Want proof football is a violent game that takes a huge physical toll on players? Look no further than Clint Trickett, Quarterback for West Virginia University.
The school...and Trickett announced Friday the senior has ended his football career after his 5th concussion in the past 14 months. The 5th and final concussion for Trickett happened November 20th when the Mountaineers played Kansas State. It would end up being his last game.
Now, a month plus removed from that last concussion, Trickett has yet to be able to pass a test that would clear him to play in the teams Liberty Bowl game vs. Texas A&M. And it's what prompted him to say enough is enough.
Skyler Howard relieved Trickett in the K-State game and started the next week vs. Iowa State. Howard will also start the Liberty Bowl game.
As for Trickett, he intends to take up the family business. Daddy Rick is the offensive line coach at Florida State, where Trickett began his college career.
We wish him the best of luck....

Morning Wrap: Kansas St Gets Win at West Virginia
((ht: foxsports.com))
It wasn't pretty, but it was a win that kept the Kansas State Wildcats tied for the lead in the Big 9 (12).
Behind 400 yards passing and a TD by QB Jake Waters, the Wildcats downed the West Virginia Mountaineers 26-20 in Morgantown, West Virginia Thursday night.
K-State won, despite being held to 1 yard rushing...for the entire game. The win moved them to 8-2, 6-1 in the Big 9(12).
As for West Virginia, they struggled without QB Clint Trickett who left the game in the 2nd quarter after sustaining what is believed to be a concussion. Skyler Howard replaced him and threw a TD pass, but it wasn't enough for the Mountaineers, who've lost their last 4 games.
The loss dropped them to 6-5, 4-4 in the Big 9(12).

ICYMI: West Va. Gets Big Win vs. Baylor and Riots
((ht: foxsports.com))
It wasn't pretty. But it was a win and Dana Holgersen and the West Virginia Mountaineers will gladly celebrate beating the alleged #4 team in the country.
West By-Gawd took down the Baylor Bears 41-27 in Morgantown Saturday in a game that featured 18-penalties against Baylor. The win threw the Big 9 (12) title race into chaos...
It also featured Mountaineer QB Clint Trickett recording his 8th straight 300-yard passing game, throwing for 322 yards and 3 TD's. Kevin White, who leads the nation in catches, caught 8 of those passes for 132 yards and 2 TD's.
As for the Bears, well, we picked this to happen.
Sure, Bryce Petty threw for 223 yards and 3 TD's, but Baylor's high-powered, nation leading offense was pretty much held in check by West Va.
Your highlights from FOXSports:
It should be noted in true West Virginia fashion, students ran on the field and continued the celebration late into the night. Rioting was reported all through the downtown area of Morgantown. According to reports, the students were setting fires, damaging street lights and various other properties and threw rocks, bottles and beer at police and firefighters called in to help calm them down.
You stay classy West Virginia....
