DEVELOPING: Ray Rice Waived And Suspended After Video Release (UPDATED W/Fan Reax)

((HT: TMZ Sports))

Yeah, okay, it was as bad as we all thought...

After the Sunday Night football game, TMZ Sports released the Ray Rice video and it's pretty graphic...

The NFL league office claimed that they had not seen the elevator video where Rice had allegedly assaulted his then fiancee, but then it was released. The league wasted no time in suspending him indefinitely after the Ravens waived him.

Simply put by the Ravens on their Twitter:

The Ravens have terminated RB Ray Rice's contract this afternoon.

The Shield followed up with, on their Twitter through spokesman Greg Aiello:

Roger Goodell has announced that based on new video evidence that became available today he has
indefinitely suspended Ray Rice.

A lot of different media sources are calling "shenanigans" that the league didn't know this was what was on the tape. But Jay Glazer had maintained from the beginning that this was the case and, thus, the two-game punishment.

Now, the Ravens will have to retool their offense for an entire season and, possibly, hit the market looking for a tailback that can get quality yards...

Auburn Speaks On Lutzenkirchen Tragedy

((HT: Auburn Tigers.com/Goldberg))

The Auburn family has spoken out publicly for the first time since it was released that former tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen was killed in a rollover crash early Sunday morning...

"I’m deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Philip Lutzenkirchen. He was a great young man who touched the lives of everyone he knew in a positive way," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said. "On the field, Philip was a great player and competitor, but more importantly, he was a great teammate and friend off the field. My thoughts and prayers are with Philip’s parents, Mike and Mary, and all of his family and friends who are grieving his passing. This is a sad day for the entire Auburn family. I find peace knowing that even though Philip was taken from us too soon, that he lived his life to the fullest, leaving a lifetime of great memories for his family and friends to cherish forever."

Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs:

"Philip’s death is a devastating tragedy for his family, the Auburn family and his countless friends. Today is also a profoundly sad day for the Auburn Athletics family, who loved and respected Philip not only as a great player but more importantly as a friend and the epitome of an Auburn man.

"I came to know Philip well and I admired everything about who he was and the way he lived his life. He had a strong faith, a big heart and a burning desire to help others. Philip was a bright light this world desperately needed, and his death leaves a void that can’t possibly be filled. My prayers, my thoughts and my heart go out to his wonderful parents, Mike and Mary, their entire family and his many grieving friends.”

Former Auburn head coach Gene Chizik:

"He was compassionate, determined, honorable and full of love, integrity and respect. In 27 years of coaching, I have come across what I would consider to be a few ‘rare’ young men. Phillip was certainly one of those ‘rare’ ones," Chizik said. "He truly, lived his life for other people and always found time to give to others. His family values taught him to be a great friend and teammate of everyone he came in contact with. My deepest sympathy is extended to his parents Mike and Mary, his sisters, and all of his extended family. We should all begin by honoring his life because he lived a life worthy of that. In his 23 short years, he has certainly left an impactful legacy to everyone he touched. I will miss him deeply."

Wild Reactions to Crazy Iron Bowl Ending

Watching the reactions pour in on YouTube and other places to the crazy ending to the Auburn-Alabama game has been nothing short of hilarious.

And intriguing.

Listen and watch as Rod Bramblett loses his mind making the Auburn radio call as Chris Davis runs 100-yards with the missed Field Goal for the win--a win that happened in a way that nobody we know of has ever seen before.

And then there is the fan reaction:

Check out this woman in a Sports Bar freaking out:

Then there's this Alabama gathering in Destin, Florida:

Here's a fan video from the lower bowl. Crappy video, but great feeling:

And finally the compilation of videos from YouTube's Video Producers:

When Turks Play Soccer, Every Fan Brings A Chair...

((HT: Big Lead/SeaLightNews))

Soccer overseas has always had political or religious overtones...

Just ask Celtic and Rangers in Scotland about that whole religion-in-sports thing...

Now, Galatasaray and Besiktas played in Turkey today... and they didn't make it to the final whistle...

Here's your outburst...

Besiktas was involved in the anti-government protests over the summer... and that hasn't gone over well...
And the HQ still thinks it won't for quite some time...

But plastic chairs...???
Seriously...???

OSG Prem: di Canio Is Probably On The Clock...

((HT: BBC Sport))

The HQ is under the impression that Sunderland manager Paolo di Canio is on the clock...

After one of those bouts of irony in today's match with West Brom, Sunderland put up a 3-0 clunker that included a goal from former Sunderland striker Stephane Sessegnon.

They're glowingly at the bottom of the table without any real challengers at present, and di Canio seems to be flaming out with a great deal of speed.

Evidence from his display in front of fans after the loss...

Actually, let the HQ rephrase...

di Canio SHOULD be done, but who would want to take over the flaming pile of crap he's dealing with at present if he does get sacked...???

Not even us... unless we had a lot of time to work things out...

Charlotte Bobcat Fans Not Happy With Cody Zeller Pick

[HT: Charlotte Observer and sportsgrid.com)

This was the reaction of Charlotte Bobcat fans when Cody Zeller was announced as the teams first round pick.

It wasn't a particularly popular pick to Charlotte Observer columnist Tom Sorensen.

Sorensen writes: But is this what they need? My column is not long enough, this sports section not large enough and my fingers not agile enough to list all that the Bobcats need.
They especially need a big man who imposes himself on a defense. Zeller, 20, was not that guy at Indiana. He was not so tough in the tough Big Ten last season. He was not so tough in Indiana’s meek NCAA tournament loss to Syracuse.

Zeller was projected as a 7-12 pick in the numerous mock drafts.  The Bobcats had a different take selecting the former Indiana Hooiser at #4.

General manager Rich Cho is in full spin mode to the Bobcat fan base.

“The fans are going to love this guy." Cho said.  "He’s a worker. You’ll see why we chose Cody as the fourth pick.”

Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins added; "“I want to ask them to give Cody an opportunity to show he’s a very good player. To give the Bobcats a chance to help him be a great player. We’re very excited.”
