Jay Cutler and The Awkward Post Game Press Conference

As bad as Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler has been the past few weeks, we kind of feel bad for him after his Monday Night Football post-game presser. The Bears were again hammered, this time by the New Orleans Saints 31-15.

Cutler, who usually speaks after Bears coach Marc Trestman, came to the podium first. And there was only one reporter in the room at the time.

Cutler took 3 questions...all from ESPN.com's Mike Sando before a quizzical look at the PR folks. He then left the room before all the reporters, in the locker room at the time could get there.

Having participated in this ritual for many years, the usual procedure for most teams is the coach speaks first, then the locker room is opened. The quarterback for most teams will also speak in the conference room. Team PR generally notifies reporters/camera crews when that is about to happen.

It's a bit of a scramble/dance. Often times during a loss, players will get out of the place as fast as they can. If you aren't there, you miss your opportunity.

In this case, blame the PR staff. Poor Cutler has been under siege from opposing defenses, fans, his own coaches and teammates. This time he did nothing wrong, it just looked silly and really, really awkward.

DEVELOPING: Bills-Jets May Move From Buffalo (UPDATED: Yep, It's Moving)

((HT: WGRZ-TV))

With all the snow that is covering western New York and Governor Andrew Cuomo asking everyone to stay inside "pretty, please" the thought of a football game on Sunday afternoon at Ralph Wilson Stadium is a longshot at best.

So, with a little leeway to think about it, the NFL is debating moving the game to either Detroit, Pittsburgh, or Washington to get it in the books this weekend.

Adam Benigni discusses...
The thought is Monday night for a kickoff, but the Bills have to be able to get out of town. The team hasn't practiced in two days and would need to get transportation out of town to whatever locale will host if it is not Orchard Park. Interesting math frm the Bills front office: Bills officials said Wednesday that it takes about three days to remove one foot of snow from the stadium and surrounding areas. At the rate the snow is falling, that cleanup would take 18 days. So, don't go holding your breath on a Bills home game. PM UPDATE: Yep, it's moving... According to Adams Caplan and Schefter at ESPN, it's not happening Sunday and they may not get their November 30 game played in Buffalo, either, because of the amount of snow inside Ralph Wilson Stadium.

And the final idea is that the game will be in Detroit on Monday night...

Provided, of course, the Bills can actually get there...

Tucker Sends Lions Into Playoff Mix Backwards

((HT: ESPN))

Justin Tucker seemed to be the only offense the Baltimore Ravens needed Monday with 6 field goals as they knocked off the Detroit Lions 18-16 in the Monday game of the week...

Here's the highlights of the Ravens winning ugly and not caring...

Harbaugh chose to let Tucker try the longest kick of his career -- by 5 yards -- instead of going for it on a 4th down and 8 from the Detroit 43.

"If they send me out there, they have reason to," Tucker said. "It's because they think I can make the kick."
Tucker told Harbaugh he was good from that distance after hitting from 53 earlier in the evening...and earlier in the quarter...

Detroit, now 7-7, has lost four of five, and are now third in the NFC North behind the Bears and Green Bay.

We're Not Even Talking About The Packers-Seahawks Game Anymore...

((HT: ESPN/NFL/youtube))

Okay... the Seattle Seahawks absolutely mauled, manhandled, and wiped out the Green Bay Packers 14-12...

But... the whole thing has blown up in its face...

The grenade went off in the Jolly Roger's hands and the biggest profit machine in the biggest sport in America is having enough discussions about the replacement officials are proving once and for all (regrettably) that the replacement officials have no business being replacement officials...

We're not talking about great defense... which we saw...
We're not talking about a prototype in keeping one of the best offenses in check... which we saw...
We're not taling about the 12th Man and its impact... which we saw...
We're not talking about the emergence of Russell Wilson as a starting QB... which we're seeing...

We're talking about this...

Got fucked by the refs.. Embarrassing. Thanks nfl

And that will end up being the most expensive Tweet in the history of Twitter...
Jus' sayin'...

Unless it's this Tweet from Lang...

Fuck it NFL.. Fine me and use the money to pay the regular refs

Chris Berman to call NFL Game; Twitterverse nears implosion

Chris Berman
This quite honestly to anyone who is not a total Sports Geek, kind of funny. And yet we are telling the story.

ESPN has announced that Loud Guy and NFL Countdown host Chris Berman is going to do the 2nd game of their NFL Opening Weekend doubleheader on Sept. 10th.

Why is this a big deal you ask?

It isn't.

Yet, those who inhabit the world of Twitter Sports and the Blogosphere are terming this as nothing short of "Sacreligous".

And while no fan of the over-blown, under-performing believer in his own hype who hasn't come up with a creative way to write in many a year, we have no problem with this choice.

The guy, as laughable a shill for the NFL as anybody in the Sports world is doing a West-Coast game that will draw viewers, but not break records for Neilsen viewership.

No, we've never gone out of our way to say much positive about our friends at the 4-letter, mostly because we think they are kind of like the Empire in the Star Wars movies, but what does this hurt? If they cared what anybody really thought about their talent, Skip Bayless would never be on TV again ((we can only hope)).

Since when has anyone made a decision on what game they watched based on the play-by-play guy? If it bothers you so much, turn off the TV volume and listen on the radio.

Yeah, there are plenty of reasons to be offended at ESPN shoving Berman down our collective throats. Mostly because he is a mockery of what he once was. It is more offensive, at least to us, to see him doing the U.S Open Golf hosting duties or the All-Star Home Run Derby. And yet they keep doing it.

((Author Note--The Home Run Derby is now COMPLETELY UNWATCHABLE and it is because of Berman with his circa 1986 cliche's and amazing ability to totally talk over the best and most dramatic of moments))

So, brace yourselves NFL Fan...and Twitter Sports geeks. ESPN made it official today. And they have no regrets. They know full well that you will tune in.

And ultimately, that's all they care about.
