ICYMI: Ndamukong Suh Wins Appeal Will Play Sunday

Detroit Lions walking fine Ndamukong Suh somehow got his one game suspension for stepping on Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers overturned Tuesday evening.

Suh had appealed the suspension, which would have kept him out of the Lions wild-card game vs. Dallas. In his appeal he claimed his feet were "Numb from the Cold" and he couldn't tell if he was on the frozen turf in Green Bay or not. In lieu of the suspension, he will pay a $70,000 fine.

Uh...yeah.

Suh has a history of after the fact silly things like this. Yes, he made it through the 2014 season without incident but he's been fined and/or suspended several times for offenses similar to this one.

The move will help the Lions as they face the powerful Cowboys offense led by the NFL's leading rusher, DeMarco Murray on Sunday.

Aaron Rodgers Meets Aaron Rodgers--Sort Of

Ever wonder what would happen if Aaron Rodgers met someone who looked an awful lot like him?

Well, okay, actually since we aren't Packers fans...especially after they stole a win from our beloved Miami Dolphins last week, we really never thought much about it.

But the fine folks at NFL Films did think about it.

And produced a video of Rodgers meeting British comic Tom Wigglesworth a.k.a The Amazing Mr. Wrigglesworth (must be a British thing). Which although we are stereotyping a bit, the video is pretty funny. Especially when he tries to sell people in Green Bay that he's the real Rodgers...

The video is long. 10 minutes worth, but if you need a good laugh on a Thursday morning...

Then this is for you:

Arizona Adds to List of Darren Sharper Rape Charges

((ht: theneworleansadvocate.com))

Okay, so former NFL All-Pro Safety Darren Sharper is now facing charges in two states, is about to be indicted in a third state and is under investigation in two more.

The second state to officially charge the former New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers safety is Arizona. According to reports, a Tempe, Arizona (Maricopa County) Grand Jury indicted Sharper on two counts of sexual assault and three counts of administering a dangerous drug.

He's been accused of drugging then raping women in Tempe. He's been indicted in Los Angeles on similar charges and had been out on bond there until a warrant was taken for his arrest in New Orleans---again for similar charges. New Orleans officials expect to present their case for an indictment when their Grand Jury meets on Thursday. No word though when that indictment would be handed down.

And...did we mention he's being investigated in Las Vegas and Miami Beach?

Read about today's indictment in Arizona from the New Orleans Advocate RIGHT HERE

The challenge now appears to be who gets Sharper in court first. He appeared in Los Angeles because they were the 1st to charge him. And he had been released on a $1 million bond as long as he stayed there. That changed after the warrant was issued in New Orleans, he's been in an L.A County jail since.

While Sharper's attorney maintains his clients innocence, the appearance here is that of a serial rapist. His attorney's in all the case say Sharper will be exonerated, though it appears the pattern in each case is frighteningly similar.

We'll keep monitoring this story because we're guessing it's nowhere near over.

49ers Call in The Nature Boy to Fire Them Up

((ht: pfz.com))

Woooooo!

Football teams will sometimes use some interesting tactics to get their players fired up or motivated for a big game.

With that thought in mind, as they settled in on Saturday night before Sunday's NFL Playoff game vs. the Green Bay Packers,  the San Francisco 49ers decided to bring in someone who excels at firing people up.

That someone: None other than Pro Wrestling Legend "Nature Boy" Ric Flair….

The team flew the Nature Boy up from Charlotte to Green Bay to get the 49ers "Stylin' and Profilin" knowing full well that "To be the Man, you gotta BEAT the man"….or in this case Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers…

Check out this quick Instagram Video of Flair's entrance music hitting:

ICYMI: An Exciting, Imploding Week In The NFC Least...

((HT: NFL on FOX/NFL on CBS))

The Washington Redskins, inexplicably, went for two after scoring a touchdown with less than 20 seconds to go in regulation and pulled defeat from the jaws of overtime- losing in Atlanta 27-26...

QB Kirk Cousins did the team thing and fell on the sword for not getting the two-point conversion done...

“We just didn’t do enough to win,” Cousins said postgame. “Two interceptions that were on me. A fumble that you don’t want to have. The failed two-point conversion. That was on me. Those are four plays right there, that if they go differently, it’s probably a much better result.”

Dead head coach walking Mike Shanahan, decided he had had enough very quickly...
((HT: CSN Washington))

But that doesn't even to cover it...

Dallas was up 24-3 at the half and lost 37-36- the most prolific scorer on the day for the Cowboys was kicker Dan Bailey.

The biggest mistake of all the mistakes the Cowboys made in the second half was also the last mistake when Romo threw a pick that caused Dez Bryant to leave the field with 1:21 left in the game...

See...???

Dead head coach walking Jason Garrett threw his QB under the bus:

"The idea was to run the ball and make them use the clock; run it and if we throw it, throw high percentage passes, keep the clock going, and make them use their time outs," Garrett explained.

Romo changed the play...

"It's a run call that we have," Romo said. "We'll have it up three to five or six times a game. That specific time, obviously when I look back now, you should run the ball, because you throw an interception. You should never give them a chance to have the ball."

"It's something we have accompanying some runs if he gets a bad look; that's what happened on the interception," Garrett said. "It was run call, though, that he threw the ball on."

The fans had a meltdown of biblical proportions...

Now, all that missing is Shea in Irving...

Harbaugh Evokes Emlen Tunnell At Presser

((HT: CSN Bay Area))

Jim Harbaugh went after Clay Matthews the only way he could...

At his Monday presser...

Evoking old school NFL-clothesliner LB Emlen Tunnell and telling Clay Matthews that he needed to come to a football fight with more than just an open hand gave the media some Monday fodder...

Which is never a bad thing...

Here's his NFL Films flashback moment...

Challenging a linebacker's manhood and telling some folks to "come with some knuckles..." if you're gonna fight...

Please continue winning Monday pressers with talk like this, sir...

The Packers Beat The Hell Out Of Each Other In Training Camp

[HT: Fox 11 Green Bay, WI ]

Literally, the Green Bay Packers did just that.  Three fights broke out at Packers training camp Wednesday morning.

The first bout involved offensive lineman T.J. Lang and rookie linebacker Sam Barrington.   Then offensive lineman Greg Van Roten and linebacker Robert Francois scuffled and then tight end Jermichael Finley and linebacker Jarvis Reed began a scrap then it snowballed.

Fights are not uncommon during NFL training camp.  The players are hot, tired and cranky.

It just makes for really fun video.

Have at it men.

Chiefs hire GM John Dorsey

John Dorsey
KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Chiefs have hired former Green Bay linebacker John Dorsey to be their new general manager, replacing Scott Pioli.

According to local Kansas City news affiliates, there is a 2:00pm news conference scheduled for today.

Before taking the Kansas City job, Dorsey was the director of football operations for the Packers. This move reunites Dorsey with new Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who were on the Green Bay coaching staff together from 1992-1997.

The carousel continues...with Dorsey being the sixth GM in Chiefs' history.

The NFL is on fire after the controversial touchdown call at the end of the Packers/Seahawks game.  This Packer fan who attended the game in Seattle is calling for a boycott.  (Thanks KING-TV, Seattle, WA)

Back in Green Bay fans are pissed off.  Early Tuesday morning Packer fans gathered at Lambeau Field to protest how the replacement officials cost the Packers a win.  (Thanks WLUK-TV, Green Bay, WI)

We're Not Even Talking About The Packers-Seahawks Game Anymore...

((HT: ESPN/NFL/youtube))

Okay... the Seattle Seahawks absolutely mauled, manhandled, and wiped out the Green Bay Packers 14-12...

But... the whole thing has blown up in its face...

The grenade went off in the Jolly Roger's hands and the biggest profit machine in the biggest sport in America is having enough discussions about the replacement officials are proving once and for all (regrettably) that the replacement officials have no business being replacement officials...

We're not talking about great defense... which we saw...
We're not talking about a prototype in keeping one of the best offenses in check... which we saw...
We're not taling about the 12th Man and its impact... which we saw...
We're not talking about the emergence of Russell Wilson as a starting QB... which we're seeing...

We're talking about this...

Got fucked by the refs.. Embarrassing. Thanks nfl

And that will end up being the most expensive Tweet in the history of Twitter...
Jus' sayin'...

Unless it's this Tweet from Lang...

Fuck it NFL.. Fine me and use the money to pay the regular refs

No Foul Play Suspected In Philbin Death

((HT: WBAY-TV))

The Oshkosh ((WI)) Police Department identified the body pulled from the Fox River as the son of Packers OC Joe Philbin. Michael Philbin disappeared Sunday night and a report was filed later that night.

Toxicology reports are due in a month or so, but there is not foul play suspected in the death.

"This is an emotional and difficult time for them, and we ask that everyone respect their privacy," Packers GM Ted Thompson said in a statement. "All of us in the Packers family share in their grief."

Here's the latest from Oshkosh...

Packers Sources: Body Pulled From River Is Philbin

((HT: WBAY-TV Green Bay))

The Green Bay Packers put out the following statement Monday afternoon:

"The Packers organization is aware of the missing person report regarding Michael Philbin, son of offensive coordinator Joe Philbin. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Philbin family during this difficult time. We ask anyone with information about Michael to contact the Oshkosh Police Department."

A body was pulled from the Fox River in Oshkosh mid-afternoon and local police only would say that the body was that of an individual in the 20-25 years old range. They wouldn't go into any further detail pending notification of relatives.

Michael Philbin, son of Packers OC Joe Philbin, disappeared Sunday evening and local authorities had been searching near the Wisconsin-Oshkosh campus.

Albert Breer of NFL Network has reported that Packers staff and players were told that the body was identified as that of Michael...

From Breer's Twitter feed:

RT @jasonjwilde #Packers players have indeed been informed the body of offensive coordinator Joe Philbin's son, Michael, has been ID'ed.

More when we know more...

A Man Named Suh... Is He Dirty Now...???

((HT: FoxSports/NFL))

The HQ thinks that the Lions lineman-extraordinaire won't get to shake that label now after the wrestle, emphasis, and stomping of Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith in the 27-15 loss Thursday.

Here's the play that got him tossed...

And his response in the presser...

Suh texter and self-acknowledged boy Dat Dude discusses... and agrees with the rest of us...
((HT: ESPN))

There is no dispute that Suh is ridiculously talented, but unles he can control the anger on the edge of the genius he holds in Detroit... "dirty" will be the only adjective that comes t mind in the short-term...
