This weekend was supposed to be the opening of the New Mexico Lobos women's soccer season- a home game against Texas Tech.
That got wiped off the board as the school is in the middle of an investigation of an alleged hazing incident from the weekend.
Here's the latest out of Albuquerque
The hazing investigation stems from allegations that the freshmen who have left the team are now making against the women's soccer program. A parent of one of the players who left and a lawyer now associated with the case have been retained by one of the players- both confirmed the allegations made in the case.
“We are continuing to interview student-athletes and investigate what happened on Sunday night,” UNM Vice President of Athletics Paul Krebs said when asked about the investigation. “I’ve consulted with Texas Tech, and in light of our continuing investigation, we have decided to cancel the game.”
The game won't count in the standings (as a win or a loss) since the 2014 NCAA Soccer Rulebook's Rule 7.4 states, "When a scheduled game is terminated before it begins, it is recorded as 'no contest.' Neither team is credited with a win or loss, regardless of the reason the game was terminated."
UNM women's soccer practice was canceled Tuesday and the first home game (now) is listed as being September 12th.

Derek Carr Has A Senior Day To Remember
Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr won't forget his senior day and neither will the fans who attended the game at Bulldog Stadium.
Carr complete 27 of 37 passes for 527 yards and seven touchdowns which broke the school record for touchdown passes in a single game and tied the Mountain West Conference record.
Three of Carr's seven touchdown passes were of 50 or more yards,
Oh by the way Fresno State crushed New Mexico 69-28 to give the Bulldogs there first 10 win season since 2001.
(Thanks KMPH-TV)
KMPH FOX 26 | Central San Joaquin Valley News Source
"I couldn't have scripted it better," Carr said "It was really fun. The best feeling is when you prepare so hard and you go out and execute at that kind of level. That's the most fulfilling thing football-wise."

"He's as good as there is in the country and that is why I think it is very well deserved that he should be in the Heisman discussion," Fresno State head coach Tim DeRuyter said. "He has led us to a 10-0 record, which is the most important thing for a quarterback."
Carr just might lead Fresno State to a BCS bowl game.
Fresno State, who is 15th in the BCS rankings will need to defeat San Jose State next week and then win the Mountain West Championship Game to get it done.
Then hope so stay ahead of Northern Illinois and Central Florida in the BCS standings. Should the Bulldogs stay ahead of the Huskies and the Knights and remain in the top 16 they will get a bid.

Brackets Implode Thanks To Harvard's Upset Of New Mexico
![]() |
| Harvard Head Coach Tommy Amaker And The Crimson |
Harvard provided the first big shocking upset as the 14 seed Crimson upset the three seed Lobos 68-62.
So much for New Mexico being the chic sexy pic to go to the Final Four. Instead it was "Crimson and Over" for the Lobos.
"People were picking us to do this and that and I thought our focus was a little off and I thought Harvard did a lot of things to take advantage of that." New Mexico head coach Steve Alford said after the game.
And Alford just got a new 10 year contract. The new agreement announced by the University on Wednesday includes a $125,000 bonus should the Lobos reach the Final Four. I hope you haven't put that deposit down on a new pool for your family coach Alford (Christmas Vacation reference.)
"We were kind of sleepwalking and got smacked," New Mexico associate head coach Craig Neal said.
New Mexico shot 37 percent in the game, 37 percent!
Harvard's bigs were in major foul trouble midway through the second half yet the Lobos could not put the dagger in the hearts of the Crimson.
Your only hope for your office pools is that everyone else drank the Lobo coolaid and it's a wash.
So much for the darlings of the Mountain West Conference.
As for Harvard, this is the biggest win in program history. The Crimson's first NCAA Tournament victory.
For my bracket I wish I saw that coming.

Lobos Reprimanded In Soccer... Really...
Which seems a bit of a contradiction when you actually win a game...
The NCAA is publicly reprimanding and fining two New Mexico men's soccer coaches for unsportsmanlike conduct during Round 2 of the men's soccer championship versus Virginia.
The NCAA says goalie Savva Biller "used profane and unsporting language toward Virginia players and profane language toward tournament staff, followed by an obscene gesture at Virginia's coaches and bench."
Head coach Jeremy Fishbein didn't attend a mandatory administrative meeting before their next game, either, which didn't sit well.
The NCAA didn't say how much the fine was...
Here's the highlights...

The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel: The "We are the Champions" edition
Well, I guess we should start with an apology for not posting a rivalry week version. Really, there isn't a good excuse other than I forgot to do it in the morning and then got really busy with family stuff in the afternoon.
Hope you'll forgive me and we'll try finishing here on a high note.
That being said, it's "Championship Week" in College Football and unfortunately it doesn't mean as much as it probably should due to the corrupt fraud known as the BCS.
Alabama already is one half of your "BCS Championship" game...and they aren't playing this week. And barring something crazy, LSU is in as well, whether they beat Georgia in the SEC Championship game or not.
Sorry, you can't convince me that is fair. There's no legitimate argument that could be made to support it. If you have one, I'd like to hear it...and shoot it down.
We end the season with the shocking conclusion...(Though we will be back with bowl game picks)
We won't dwell on our record for this season, mostly because we skipped last week. But it was similar to previous years, our picks are 75-85% accurate and have been for 3-years.
So that being what it is, let's have Casey bring us home:
The Dirty Dozen:
1) LSU 12-0. They've been the best team..so far. And they've got to finish. The defense is stout and they just flat out seem to overpower everyone they play. The game this week will be a test, because believe it or not, Georgia matches up really well with them. Oh, we will be in attendance for this game too. This Week: SEC Championship vs. Georgia. Our Pick: LSU 23, Georgia 21.
2) Alabama 11-1. It doesn't seem fair they don't have to earn their way to a national championship berth. Sure they've been awfully tough, but they struggled with Ga. Southern and some other teams they shouldn't have. This Week: Season over until BCS Championship game in mid-January.
3) Virginia Tech 11-1. They've gotten better each week. A lot of that has to do with the growth of man-child Logan Thomas. When he's been good, they seem to be unstoppable. And David Wilson running for almost 1600 yds. isn't shabby. This Week: ACC Championship Game. Our Pick: Va.Tech 38, Clemson 27.
4) Oklahoma State 11-1. Sorry, we just aren't as enamored with this team as everyone else is. There isn't a good excuse for the el-foldo vs. Iowa State. All the pretty numbers in the world don't matter if you choke. And that loss was a choke. This Week: Bedlam vs. Oklahoma. Our Pick: Okie State 53, Oklahoma 48
5) Stanford 11-1. We liked them a lot...until Oregon exposed them. They are slow. Painfully so. They are essentially a Big 10 team. Which by they way, they'd be the best team there too. This Week: Season over until bowl game.
6) Oregon 10-2. Sans the USC loss, they'd might have had a shot at usurping Alabama's spot. But they do get the shot at the 1st Pac-12 title and should win it because of who they play (UCLA). This Week: Pac-12 Championship. Our Pick: Oregon 56, UCLA 12
7) Boise State 10-1. Two years in a row they've been done in by a field goal kicker. Unfortunately for them, they have to perfect to have a seat at the table. Absolutely perfect. And they haven't been. They are what they are. And in this case a fringe BCS team. This Week: vs. New Mexico. Our Pick: Boise St. 48, New Mexico 12.
8) Houston 12-0. Congrats to the Cougars for running the table. Case Keenum has been awesome and coach Kevin Sumlin is already linked to every job that opens up on the Carousel. But....this weeks championship game is NOT a gimme. This Week: Conference USA Championship. Our Pick: Southern Miss 37, Houston 34. UPSET!!
9) USC 10-2. We have to begrudgingly acknowledge the job that our old pal Kiffykins has done here. Sure, they aren't eligible for a bowl, but they are one of the hottest teams in the land. This Week: Season Over.
10) Arkansas 10-2. We now know Bobby Petrino lives in an alternate reality where he's never rubbed a score in an opponents face. Or lied to somebody. They are a very good team, but we don't think they are as good as everyone seems to think. Two big tests this year...they tanked them both. In a big way. This Week: Season over. Bowl game.
11) Georgia 10-2. 10 wins in a row is impressive. They've gotten better each week though they still occasionally have mental lapses. And no, they've gotten no love in the polls. We were there in 2005 when D.J Shockley destroyed a much higher rated LSU team in the SEC Championships. And while Aaron Murray is awfully good, we just can't pick the upset...though it is tempting. This Week: See #1
12) Michigan St. 10-2. They've done what they needed to, though the loss to Notre Dame is really hard to explain. But they are a Big 10 team and Big 10 teams always lose games they shouldn't. It happens every year. We aren't on the Kirk Cousins bandwagon, but are hopeful they can take care of over-hyped Wisconsin. This Week: Big 10 Championship. Our Pick: Mich. St. 31, Wisconsin 21.
The Bottom of the Barrel: (The final edition)
5) Kansas 2-10. They've already bid adieu to coach Turner Gill. And they've got a huge rebuilding project ahead. Sorry, you just are NOT GOOD if you give up nearly 44 points a game. Period. The question is...who takes over knowing the work ahead. We don't know the answer.
4) Akron 1-11. Thanks for playing, Rob Ianello. You did a pretty crappy job. This team isn't good...at anything. And the rumors of Jim Tressel interested in the job here. PLEASE. Get over yourselves. Your a crappy program in cold, dreary Northern Ohio. You'll find either someone on the way down the ladder or an assistant looking for an opportunity...and you'll like it.
3) Indiana 1-11. Kevin Wilson. Paging Kevin Wilson. Since he hasn't been fired...yet, we are guessing he has turned off his cellphone and gone into hiding. Good plan, if they can't find you, they can't fire you. There was nothing, nothing good to come of this season. And without a change, it isn't likely to change.
2) Memphis 2-10. We still laugh at the notion the Tigers want in with a BCS Conference. Until someone fixes this mess of a football team, that ain't happening. While we could see a Houston Nutt taking over for the fired Larry Porter, we would advise Hugh Freeze to stay away. You're an up-and-comer, you don't need to take a crappy job like this. Sorry Memphis....truth.
1) New Mexico 1-11. Oh you Bob Davie. We spent the past 3 seasons mocking Mike Locksley and instead of trying to replace him with an up-and-coming assistant, the Lobos hire an ESPN Football analyst who hasn't coached since 2001? Really? With all of your problems, you do this? Oh well, hey, at least you'll keep us laughing, so we've got that going for us.
**SPECIAL NOTE**--Florida Atlantic gets a pass because they finally got off the schnide by beating UAB last week. That win spares retiring coach Howard Schnellenberger the indignity of going out on an "O" for his last season. Congrats to the Owls.
Hope you'll forgive me and we'll try finishing here on a high note.

The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel: One Tough Week
Wow. We were prepared to talk at length about this years game of the century otherwise known as LSU's victory over Alabama.
But we can't.
This weeks best and worst of college football has to be tempered by a mention of what is happening at Penn State. It has dominated both News and Sports coverage this week and will for the next several weeks. It's bound to have an effect on this weeks Penn St./Nebraska game and despite the Nittany Lions 8-1 record, it likely will impact them the rest of the season.
But, we have to move on because there truly is more to talk about this week.
In this week's clip, the unit has some hurdles to overcome...and they do:
Last week: 12-1, but we do that a lot. Overall: 98-18
So let's enjoy a little more from Casey Kasem as we move on to the countdown:
The Dirty Dozen:
1) LSU 9-0. Ladies and gentlemen your best team in the land. For now. Their path is almost all clear, though the tussle with Arkansas at the end of the year is not a gimme. And they'll need to be better on offense too. But there isn't much more you can say. This Week: vs. Western Kentucky. Our Pick: LSU 43, WKU 3
2) Stanford 9-0. We don't understand why they aren't getting love from the voters. But we think they are the 2nd best team in the country. For now. We'll find out if they are a contender or pretender this week. This Week: vs. Oregon. Our Pick: Stanford 37, Oregon 32
3) Oklahoma St. 9-0. They were lucky to escape vs. K-State. Very lucky. They are impressive on offense, we still think the defense will bite them in the ass before the season ends. But there is an increasingly good chance they run the table too. This Week: at Texas Tech (I will be here working). Our Pick: Okie St. 47, Texas Tech 23.
4) Boise St. 9-0. Ok. I know you SEC nuts are saying "How can you put these guys over Alabama?". Easy. Alabama lost their game last week. And that is a factor. We also think head-to-head, Boise would have a shot at beating the Tide. (Yes, I said it--and it is true). They are big, fast, physical and smart. This Week: vs. TCU. Our Pick: Boise St. 37, TCU 27.
5) Alabama 8-1. They were exposed last week. They don't have a lot of weakness's but they do have them. Sorry SEC nuts, they don't deserve a rematch unless the 3 teams ahead of them in this poll lose before seasons end. And that, we don't think, will happen. This Week: at. Mississippi St. Our Pick: Alabama 23, Miss.St. 16
6) Oklahoma 8-1. They get to stay, but man, the injuries are piling up. It will, we believe, keep them out of a BCS game because they won't beat Okie St. in the season ender. Without Dominique Whaley and Ryan Broyles, someone is going to have to step up to help QB Landry Jones. Who will it be? This Week: BYE
7) Oregon 8-1. We get to find out who the best team in the Pac-12 is this week. We don't think it is the Ducks. They are very good, but not as good as last year. Though they are getting healthy. So they've got that going for them. This Week: See #2.
8) Arkansas 8-1. They've struggled a bit, but keep winning. They also are the only team that could keep LSU from winning it all this year. It's only because the offense is scary and dangerous. This Week: vs. Tennessee. Our Pick: Arkansas 31, Tennessee 21.
9) Clemson 8-1. How did they lose to Ga.Tech? We don't get that either. It's hard to excuse that. Mostly because it wasn't very close. If they play 10 times, Clemson would win 8 of them. But...to quote legendary sportscaster Gil Tyree, "It is what it is". This Week: vs. Wake Forest. Our Pick: Clemson 31, Wake Forest 23.
10) Houston 9-0. Yes, we know this somewhat contradicts our "Undefeated team" rule. Though nobody seriously thinks they are one of the top 3 teams in the land. This is a good spot for them right now. Case Keenum just keeps lighting things up. The question is "Is he a system QB or that good?" And nobody really knows right now. This Week: at Tulane. Our Pick: Houston 56, Tulane 17.
11) Virginia Tech 8-1. This is a tough one. There aren't a lot of options to fill out this poll and we don't think Tech is a serious contender for anything other than a mid-level bowl. But...they are 8-1 so they get to be here right now. This Week: at Ga.Tech. Our Pick: Va.Tech 31, Ga.Tech 27.
12) Kansas St. 7-2. They get to be here by virtue of their valiant effort last week. They maybe should have won the game at Okie St. But they didn't. We just couldn't think of anyone else worthy of this spot. Penn State isn't. Georgia isn't. Michigan State isn't. So the Wildcats get it. This Week: vs. Texas A&M. Our Pick: K-State 38, Texas A&M 31
The Bottom of the Barrel:
5) Colorado 1-9. The good: The season is almost over. The bad: They've been giving up 40+ a game and the season isn't over. Needless to say, the move to the Pac-12, hasn't exactly gone over gangbusters or anything. This Week: vs. Arizona. Our Pick: Arizona 40, Colorado 23.
4) Indiana 1-9. Let's just say this hasn't been a banner year for football in the Hoosier state. There isn't much we can say here. They did score 20 vs. Ohio State...but they gave up 38 to a pretty bad offensive team. So they've got that going for them. This Week: BYE. Our Pick: Bye 43, Indiana 20.
3) Akron 1-8. Zippy says "What?". Zippy plays "What?". There is a restaurant in Cincinnati called "Zips". And we can tell you from our 2 years there that they make a pretty tasty hamburger. Akron's version of the Zips, would probably lose the burger. This Week: vs. Kent St. Our Pick: Kent St. 27, Akron 10.
2) Florida Atlantic 0-8. At least the season is almost over. We pity poor Howard Schnellenberger, though most thought he retired like 10-years ago. Everything that could go wrong this season....did. Unfortunately, it isn't over. Though the thought of the mercy rule has been discussed. This Week: at Florida International. Our Pick: FIU 41, FAU 13.
1) New Mexico 0-9. Oh...Mexico....Where is James Taylor when you need him? On the good side though, they scored last week, making it 2 TD's in the past 4 weeks. So they've got that going for them. This Week: vs. UNLV. Our Pick: UNLV 31, New Mexico 10.
So, we end another week. Enjoy your football:
But we can't.

The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel: Who are you?
Well. Anybody following college football who hasn't heard about "The" game on Saturday? You know it is a big week if the 4-letter word (espn) is spending an "All-Day" look at the week leading up to it. I mean heck, Erin Andrews asking Les Miles about how much coffee he drinks during the day...Priceless. Oh...and my week is now complete knowing Nick Saban is a fan of Michael Jackson music.
Yes, it is Alabama vs. LSU. Game of the Century. The de facto National Title game. The be all/end all of this season in college football. The one where the SEC school wins.
It should settle the question over one of this years BCS teams. (We won't get started on that, we are currently reading "Death to the BCS" and it makes us angry). And strangely the farther we go, the number of undefeated teams seems to be dropping.
So with that in mind...we give our favorite Dozen clip...theat of General Incognito. (No, not Richie).
Last Week: 11-2. Not bad. Didn't see the Minnesota win coming though. Overall: 86-17. We are on a roll...and yes, I'm counting the Georgia win, because I called it.
With that in mind, let's have Casey warm us up:
The Dirty Dozen:
1) LSU 8-0. They've been here almost from the beginning. And we'll find out if they are worthy this week. Everyone is back, including the "Honey Badger" and they'll need him. They've been solid, they've been efficient, but can they win in Tuscaloosa? This Week: at Alabama. Our Pick: LSU 23, Alabama 21
2) Alabama 8-0. A typical Nick Saban/Alabama team. They will live and die with Trent Richardson. And that isn't a bad thing. We just aren't convinced A.J McCarron can win the game and we think that is what LSU is going to make him have to do. This Week: See Above.
3) Stanford 8-0. Yes, they struggled last week with USC, but that wasn't a surprise, the Trojans are pretty good and were at home. But just looking at Andrew Luck, you knew that Stanford would eventually win, he never seemed to sweat it. This Week: at Oregon St. Our Pick: Stanford 38, Oregon St. 14
4) Oklahoma St. 8-0. Apparently, I'm one of the few people not totally sold on this team. Oh well. That is your problem. Sure, the Fighting Gundy's can outscore almost anyone, but despite what some "Experts" say, they don't play good defense. This Week: vs. Kansas State. Our Pick: Okie St. 45, K-State 23
5) Boise St. 7-0. Keep playing the B-T-O song "Taking Care of Business" in the locker room. And hope that Georgia keeps winning. Before this ends, we think they will again make the BCS question the "One loss vs. Undefeated" question. Because they will be undefeated and the LSU/Bama winner will be too. And they'll be the only ones. This Week: at UNLV. Our Pick: Boise St. 43, UNLV 10.
6) Oklahoma 7-1. Still smarting from losing the Texas Tech game. They are, along with Okie State, the prototypical Big 12 team. Great offense...sometimes questionable defense. And that is why they won't win the national title. This Week: vs. Texas A&M. Our Pick: Oklahoma 43, Texas A&M 31
7) Clemson 8-1. We knew they'd lose a questionable game. It was just a matter of time. And quite honestly, they play like a Big 12 team, not an ACC team. And yes, we know they won't even make their conference championship game now. This Week: BYE
8) Oregon 7-1. They just have never seemed like a "Powerhouse" team, but the writers and pollsters love them. Sure, they are better than most of the Pac-12, but we think Stanford will handle them next week easily. This Week: at Washington. Our Pick: Oregon 45, Washington 35
9) Arkansas 7-1. They plain got lucky last week vs. Vandy. They should have lost. And it isn't the 1st time, they've gotten lucky. They are here by virtue of their record and that they are in the SEC. They'll do what they need to and probably won't lose again until the end of the season. This Week: vs. South Carolina. Our Pick: Arkansas 43, South Carolina 28.
10) Nebraska 7-1. A typical Nebraska team. Great runners, crappy passers and stout on defense. Got to see them in person last week. Great stadium and atmosphere. They handled Mich. St, but we knew that would happen. This Week: vs. Northwestern. Our Pick: Nebraska 33, Northwestern 17.
11) Penn St. 8-1. Consider this a reward for the Joe Pa's for overachieving. They don't score much, but they don't give up much either. That will get them only so far. The finish this year will be tough, we don't think they'll stay here. This Week: BYE.
12) Houston 8-0. Could they soon be a Big East team. Yes, we think so. They certainly are dominating Conference USA, but the Big East isn't much better, they just have a BCS bid available. The Cougars are your #1 scoring and passing team in the country. This Week: at UAB. Our Pick: Houston 61, UAB 12.
The Bottom of the Barrel:
**Special Note**--Congrats to Minnesota for beating Iowa. You are free from this list...this week.
5) Colorado 1-8. Sigh....A once proud football school that has fallen to the dregs of Division 1. There really just isn't anything good to say here. Okay, so they are a decent passing team. Which is probably because they've been blown out by everyone and are playing from behind. This Week: vs. USC. Our Pick: USC 43, Colorado 21.
4) Akron 1-7. Well, they almost won last week. Question: LeBron James is threatening to get his "Boys" from home to play Kevin Durant's team in Flag Football. If James takes players from Akron, Durant has nothing to worry about. Just sayin'. This Week: at. Miami (OH). Our Pick: Miami (OH) 37, Akron 21.
3) Indiana 1-8. Thank god they don't play Minnesota this year. Sorry. Had to go there. They just dismissed their best receiver. They are 1-8. They haven't been competitive...except when they beat 1-AA, SC State and narrow losses to UVA and North Texas. Good thing College Hoops have started. This Week: at Ohio St. Our Pick: Ohio St. 37, Indiana 10.
2) Florida Atlantic 0-7. On the good side, they didn't lose last week. But then again, they had a BYE. It's been a long, long year in Boca Raton...even with scraps in Florida, they should be better than this. But are they? This Week: vs. Arkansas State. Our Pick: Ark. St. 43, FAU 3.
1) New Mexico 0-8. They've scored 0 points combined in their last 2 games. They haven't "Officially" given up, but it sure seems like it. Though we will add, they've sucked for the past 3 seasons, this isn't much different. Maybe they should drop to 1-AA. Oh wait, they lost to a mediocre 1-AA team too. This Week: at San Diego St. Our Pick: San Diego St. 38, New Mexico 0.
And so it goes:
