UPDATE: CSU Assistant Suspended For 2 Weeks For Double F-Bomb

Colorado State assistant football coach Greg Lupfer has been suspended for two weeks without pay after his outburst during the New Mexico Bowl where he called Washington State Connor Halliday something not very nice during the first quarter...

Evidence below...

Lupfer also must attend anger management and diversity training that the coach has to pay for himself according to CSU director of Athletics Jack Graham...

Lupfer said, through a press release from CSU: "I accept these consequences - two weeks without pay and the training programs -and I am thankful for this second chance to continue coaching at Colorado State and be a part of the Ram Family. I am deeply sorry for my behavior, which does not represent who I am or my values.

"I embrace the opportunity to participate in anger management and diversity sensitivity training. I was angry and careless with my words, and my words hurt many people. I sincerely apologize to the GLBTQ community for causing pain by using a slur without considering its meaning. I take ownership of my words and fully understand why people are very upset."

Lupfer will also receive an official letter of reprimand and be placed on a zero-tolerance status- whatever that entails within the athletic department...

CSU Assistant Apologizes For Double F-Bomb

((HT: Die Hard Sport via Troy Machir's Vine))

This was what CSU Defensive Line Coach Greg Lupfer had to say to Wazzu QB Connor Halliday in the New Mexico Bowl in the first half...

As it turns out, it wasn't a very nice thing to say, so he apologized:

"I am truly sorry for what I said. It was wrong and those words do not represent who I am and what I believe in. I apologize for the embarrassment I caused for Colorado State University, this team & my family."

The fallout from this will be interesting, but wholly unknown at present...

So, This Is How You Start Bowl Season...

((HT: ESPN))

Making up a 22-point deficit in the final three minutes to win the New Mexico Bowl...

Jared Roberts made a 41-yard field goal as time expired and Colorado State beat Washington State 48-45 in the New Mexico Bowl.

But, it took a furious comeback that included a strip on defense and a two-point conversion that caught everyone by surprise...
And one that survived a review...

Garrett Grayson threw for 369 yards and Kapri Bibbs ran for 169 yards (overcame his turf toe) and 3TD's for Colorado State, who finish 8-6. Connor Halliday threw six touchdown passes (5 of them in the first half, by the way) and finished with 410 yards for Washington State, who finish 6-7.

And should be the early poster child for teams that shouldn't be going to a bowl in the first place...

The HQ would set a rule that any team that could finish the season below .500 with a bowl loss shouldn't go to a bowl...

Let's Get You Ready For The New Mexico Bowl

Bowl season begins today in Albuquerque, New Mexico as Colorado State and Washington State meet in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl.

We will let the bowl itself let you feel the excitement and anticipation for the game.  Cue up the band.

Thanks Gildan New Mexico Bowl

Love the rendition of Feliz Navidad because the natives will tell you there is nothing like Albuquerque during the Holidays.

By the way it's been 10 years since Washington State has been to a bowl game so to Cougar fans the New Mexico Bowl is a big deal.  A few of those loyal Coug fans made the trip.

Thanks KXLY-TV Spokane, WA

Of course it all about the bowl gifts and the New Mexico Bowl has some nice ones.

  • Gift suite (Includes 23 inch Toshiba 1080P LED TV, Blu-Ray player, Fossil watches, Skullcandy headphones, iPhone cases, Bluetooth sound system
  • Portable mobile device charger
  • 8 GB USB drive
  • Oakley Breadbox sunglasses
  • A hat
  • Oakley Fine Knit beanie
  • Oakley Flak Pack XL backpack
  • Gildan stadium blanket
For those who care about the football game, it's hard to believe that Colorado State and Washington State have never met.

Just a guess but I bet many points will be scored in this one.

New Mexico Bowl Highlight: Arizona Player Fight

Like MANY of you, we chose not to tune into the 1st of 35 College Football Bowl games foisted upon us for the next 30 days.

That 1st game, it featured Arizona vs. Nevada in what appears to have been a frigid New Mexico Bowl, a game that neither defense bothered to show up for.

The game, which has not ended at the time of this writing, had Nevada in the lead 48-35 with less than 2 minutes to go. Enough, we'd think to say that Nevada will win.

**Update**--Nevada did NOT win. They managed to give up 2 TD's in less than 2 minutes, Arizona with the 49-48 win in front of a standing room only crowd of 12.

But the highlight of the game was apparently a fight on the bench. Between two Arizona Wildcats. Video shows defensive lineman Tevin Hood jumping off the bench and trying to punch teammate Cody Ippolito.

It's isn't clear if Ippolito said something, the two just didn't like each other or if it was their only attempt at playing defense in the game.

Either way it was our highlight of what was basically a meaningless, time-filler of a college football game.

Enjoy:
