tOSU's Kosta Karageorge Is Missing

((HT: WBNS-TV))

A walk-on for Urban Meyer's Ohio State team has been reported missing by his mother- and, apparently, has been missing since Tuesday.

The reserve defensive lineman and former Ohio State wrestler missed football practice Wednesday morning. His sister says the family has filed a missing persons report with three separate Ohio townships

She also says Karageorge has a history of concussions and has had some problems in the past.

Here's the latest out of Columbus...

Karageorge joined the Ohio State football team as a walk-on this season.

If anyone has any information as to Karageorge's whereabouts, the family is asking anyone to call: 614-747-1729.

Jim Tressel Selected As New Youngstown State University President

[HT: The Youngstown (OH) Vindicator]

Back in the day successful head football coaches would eventually become the athletic directors.

Former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel has set a new precedent.

Tressel, who was the head football coach at Youngstown State from 1986 - 2000, was unanimously selected by the University's trustees as the new president of YSU.

In a statement Tressel said,  "We are honored and privileged to accept the board’s offer, and we are humbled by this opportunity to return to the area and school that we deeply love."

Tressel has two years remaining on his show cause penalty imposed by the NCAA for major violations on his watch as Ohio State head coach.  The NCAA accused Tressel of withholding information regarding their investigation of the memorabilia-for-tattoos scandal.

Dr. Sudershan Garg, Youngstown State University trustees chairman said university attorneys look into to Tressel's show cause and don't think it should affect his ability to perform as university president.

"As long as you acknowledge it and move forward, you have to look at the positive aspects of the individual." Garg said.

Tressel leaves his job as the executive vice president for student success at the University of Akron where he was also a candidate for university president.

Here's reaction from current Youngstown State head coach Eric Wolford.

Long Night For Ranked Teams In The B1G

((HT: BTN))

Two huge Big Ten upsets last night...

Penn State won in Columbus for the first time in a decade with a 71-70 win over Ohio State in overtime. DJ Newbill's jumper with two seconds left in overtime was the difference there...

And Northwestern followed with another huge upset, a 65-56 victory over No. 14 Wisconsin in Madison.
It was Northwestern's first win in Madison since 1996...

And Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan gave this answer when asked about the 3-point shooting of Northwestern that put the Wildcats out on the horizon early and kept Wisconsin doing nothing but catching up...

ICYMI: Tajh Boyd and Sammy Watkins Run Past Ohio State

So, Ohio State…what was this talk about you being a title contender?

The Clemson Tigers rode the arm…and legs of quarterback Tajh Boyd and the fast feet and good hands of receiver Sammy Watkins to a 40-35 win over Ohio State in Friday night's Orange Bowl.

For the first time in a long, long time, the Orange Bowl game was actually pretty exciting.

Boyd threw for 378 yards and 5 TD's and ran for 128 yards along with another score. Watkins caught 16 of those passes for 218 yards and 2 scores.

And it almost wasn't enough.

After getting out to a 20-9 lead, the Tigers gave it back. tOSU quarterback Braxton Miller's 2-yard TD run with 12 seconds left in the first half, gave the Buckeye's a 22-20 lead.

The game went back and forth before Boyd sealed it with a 5 yard TD pass to Stanton Seckinger with 6 minutes left. That's when the leaky Tiger defense stepped up and kept Ohio State out of the end zone and sealing the win.

OSG's College Football Crystal Ball For Week 2

#2 Oregon at Virginia

I’m racking my brain to figure out what was the biggest game ever played at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville and boom it came to me, when the Wahoos defeated Florida State in 1995 to end FSU’s ACC winning streak.

Oregon rarely crosses over the big rocks (Rocky Mtn’s) much less go as far east and the Ducks are travelling.  You have to go back to 1970 when Oregon played at West Point since the Ducks have travelled this far east.

Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich come away impressed with the Virginia Defense.
They dominated BYU [defensively], which doesn’t happen very much.” Helfrich said in his weekly teleconference.

That may be the case last week but Virginia defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta loves a challenge and this is a biggie.

“…obviously this is one of the best college football teams in the country, and we happen to have the chance to play them here in Charlottesville.”

Yes Virginia you do but Oregon will be way too much to handle.

Oregon 42, Virginia 17

San Diego State at #3 Ohio State

The Aztecs were defeated by Eastern Illinois last Saturday.  What kind of chance do they have against the Buckeyes.

The Ohio State University 48, SDSU 3

South Carolina State at #4 Clemson

Do you think the Tigers will have a let down.

“I know everybody looks at the schedule and thinks that it’s SC State versus Clemson.”  Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said.  “It’s an FCS team, but if you think that way then you get beat. I think there were eight FCS teams that beat FBS opponents last Saturday.”

Clemson fans, don’t worry.

Clemson 58, SC State 10

San Jose State at #5 Stanford

This was a close game last year with the Cardinal winning 20-17.  The Spartans defeated Sacramento State 24-0 for a confidence boost before heading the The Farm.
Saturday is Stanford’s season opener.

“That’s [San Jose State] a good team,”  Stanford head coach David Shaw said.

The Spartans have won eight straight, that streak ends.
Stanford 34, San Jose State 24

Sam Houston State at Texas A&M

Raise your hand if you are over Johnny Manziel………. That’s what I thought.

College Football’s spoiled brat will play again at Kyle Field to dismantle the Sam Houston defense.

“They are a tremendously talented team led by a Heisman Trophy winner.”  Sam Houston State head coach Willie Fritz said.  “But playing in front of a crowd of more than 88,000 again will be a great experience for our players and good exposure for Sam Houston State.”

Enjoy the experience Bearkats

Texas A&M 49, Sam Houston State 10

More to come, stay tuned.

Carlos Hyde Video Released

((HT: Lost Lettermen))

The prosecution in the case are saying Hyde is the individual on the right half of the screen that appears to be taken aback and then lunges forward...

Allison Manning of the Columbus Dispatch lets us all know that Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde will not be facing charges in the above incident because the woman who was struck, apparently, did not want to press charges...

Police have closed the investigation, but Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer still has to determine the length of a suspension for Hyde that he is currently serving as a result of the incident in the first place...

The season-opener against Buffalo and, maybe, the San Diego State game looks like the answer...

That Was Fast... tOSU RB Carlos Hyde Dismissed (UPDATED: Or not... For Now...)

((HT: Columbus Dispatch/11 Warriors))

Tim May over at the Dispatch is saying that Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has dismissed Number 1 running back Carlos Hyde, who was named as a person of interest in an assault against a female in a Downtown Columbus bar this weekend.

Hyde had yet to be charged as of this morning. The alleged victim said in the police report she did not know her assailant, but that she could recognize him.

And, now, Meyer will get to face these questions in two days at Big 12/10 Media Day...

Corner Bradley Roby, who was arrested for "charges of battery resulting in bodily injury" as well in a separate incident, is also scheduled to be at media days. It will be interesting to see if he shows up as well or if he is told to stay home...

More when we know more...

1400 UPDATE: From Eleven Warriors... here's a picture of the police report on Hyde's case...

1545 UPDATE: Shocking no one, tOSU announces that Roby will not be attending B1G Media Days...

Head Coach Urban Meyer has announced that Hyde is now only "suspended from all team activites" and not dismissed...

“I have a clear set of core values in place that members of this football program are constantly reminded of," Meyer said at an afternoon press conference.

“Swift, effective and fair discipline is the standard for our entire athletics program. I applaud Coach Meyer for his immediate actions," Ohio State AD Gene Smith said on his Twitter account.

Sources (and we know about all those "sources") tell ESPN's Brett McMurphy that if Hyde is found not guilty, he will be reinstated...

It was a busy day for Corch Meyers...

Is Urban Meyer Sabotaging The Florida Gators?

((ht: orlandosentinel.com))

So Florida Gator fans, you still loving on former head coach Urban Meyer?

We ask this in light of a report that Meyer...or an assistant coach reported the Gators had a "Secondary" NCAA violation over a high school running back from New York named Curtis Samuel. Samuel was also being recruited by the Buckeyes.

As the story goes, the NCAA allegedly investigated, found nothing wrong with the contact, but Samuel summarily dropped Florida from his list of potential schools.

Hmmmm....

For what it's worth, Meyer claims it was not-true that he turned the Gators in, but that an assistant did it.  Which raises the obvious question...would a college assistant coach do something like that without informing his boss.

Yeah.

Anyway, read the story with the allegations from the Orlando Sentinel RIGHT HERE

Yes, we find this amusing.

And according to the Sentinel's Mike Bianchi, this isn't the first time its happened. Maybe its just us, and we aren't exactly Gator fans, but it makes us laugh to know most Florida fans hold Meyer in such high regard. And that he speaks, at least publicly, in reverential terms about his former employer.

But it appears that he'll do whatever he deems necessary when it comes to recruiting, or for that matter anything else to win. We can't totally fault him for that, but if that's what you want to be, at least own it, don't try coming across as "The Good Guy".

And no, we won't wade into the Hernandez part of the story.
