OSG High: How One Man Saved A Hoops Program

((HT: KING5 TV))

Late March in Washington state will always be remembered for the killer mudslides that seemed to take over the state.

The Oso mudslide made its impact on the people of the town of Darrington where the high school was this/close to having to disband the boy's basketball program because they couldn't find a coach who was interested that could combat all the travel difficulties to get to the Darrington area to coach.

Here's Chris Daniels to introduce you to the man whose "heart project" has the Loggers on the floor...

High Schooler Wins Game on 2nd Half Court Buzzer Beater of Night

Let's just say Ryan Sturdivan of Woodland High School in Washington had himself a good night Tuesday.

Sturdivan scored 24 points to lead Woodland to a win over Kelso High. But it's how he got 4 of those points is what makes it a big deal.

Sturdivan ended the first half with a running heave from half court that went in at the buzzer.

And at the end of the game, with his team tied at 47, he did it again, taking the inbounds pass and throwing up a long two handed heave from just before the half court line.

Boom! It's in, game over and Woodland celebrates a buzzer beating win 49-47....

OSG High: A Washington Hoops Travesty ((UPDATED))

((HT: youtube/wazzumichael))

FOSG Dave Akerly posted the following video compilation of an absolute joke of both defense and officiating...

It's inexcusable...

All the HQ has to say is: We hope these officials are banned and the Connell squad gets some serious suspensions- especially #34- who doesn't even need to be playing/mauling on the court. He seems to be even smirking at his success of getting away with it...

Some of the Highland kids could have been seriously injured there...
Punk kids...

Nick Eaton of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer updated the story as the Tri-City Herald caught up with the head coach for Connell High, Oscar Garza, who tried to spin it for his main mauler- Cole Vanderbilt.

"He's a tough kid, but those that know him know he's a teddy bear," Garza told the Herald. "My 7-year-old son loves him and lights up when he's around. But on (YouTube) he's the world's meanest, ugliest kid. It's not fair, but I just want him to know his teammates and coaches are behind him."

Whatever... Vanderbilt and Kennan VanHollebeke need to stay on the football field...
