Morning Wrap: Vlade Divac Drains Half Court Shot for $90K

Oh you Vlade Divac. Never change.

The former Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings center was a guest at Tuesday nights Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors game. And at some point he got to be the guest half-court shooter.

Which meant between the end of the third and beginning of the 4th quarter Divac was brought out onto the court where he promptly drained the runner from the center circle at half court.

Divac gave the crowd a golf wave, smiled and walked away with $90,000 which he immediately donated to his favorite charity.

Oh...we should add the lowly Lakers pulled out an upset win over the Warriors minus Laker star Kobe Bryant....

Boom!

High Schooler Wins Game on 2nd Half Court Buzzer Beater of Night

Let's just say Ryan Sturdivan of Woodland High School in Washington had himself a good night Tuesday.

Sturdivan scored 24 points to lead Woodland to a win over Kelso High. But it's how he got 4 of those points is what makes it a big deal.

Sturdivan ended the first half with a running heave from half court that went in at the buzzer.

And at the end of the game, with his team tied at 47, he did it again, taking the inbounds pass and throwing up a long two handed heave from just before the half court line.

Boom! It's in, game over and Woodland celebrates a buzzer beating win 49-47....

Last night, St. Louis University was playing Christian Brothers and as part of their "Coaches against Cancer" game, they wanted to award $100 for sinking a half court shot...

This is what happened...


Max Bredenkoetter, who has no right arm below his elbow, made the shot and immediately donated the hundy to cancer research- and THAT is way cool...

Ashlee Arnau Does It Again...Flip Shot From Half Court

The HQ knows Ashlee Arnau from our television adventures... as both a soccer player and cheerleader at William Carey University

Last year, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi she hit a half court shot where she does a somersault, grabbing the ball at mid-court, and flipping it over her head and sinking the shot...

Well, last night... she did it again...


Now, all we have to do is have her do it in person...

BUZZER BEATER: Half-Court Shot From A High School Girls Basketball Game In Florida

Here's a buzzer beater from a girls high school basketball game in Florida.

St. Augustine's Jessica Hagaman launched from half court and made it to force overtime against Bartram Trail.

Hagaman's range seems to be unlimited.  While doing a little research in the OSG HQ we found this gem of Jessica beating the buzzer from three/quarter's court in an AAU game.




Moral of the story, put a defender on the ball if Jessica Hagaman has possession.

Half Court Buzzer Beater In High School Basketball

This one occurred in an event known as the Great Western Shootout in Orem, Utah.

TJ Haws of Lone Peak HS, and committed to BYU, launched a game winner from half court to defeat Bishop O'Connell (VA) HS 49-46.

"I knew I had missed a few shots, but I tried to stay confident and shot with confidence and that's why it went through," Haws said. "I stepped up when I needed to."

Half Court Buzzer Beater A Game Winner For UT-Pan American

Shaquille Boga of Texas - Pan American nails a half court shot at the buzzer to give the Broncs a 81-78 win over Tennessee Tech.

Boga finished the game with 17 points.

The Broncs advance in the Downtown Marina Islanders Basketball Tournament in Corpus Chrisi, Texas.

By the look of the attendance plenty of good seats are on sale.

Half-Court For In State Tuition Nailed

The tuition is paid for by a combination of four CSU coaches: Larry Eustachy (men's basketball), Tom Hilbert (volleyball), Jim McElwain (football) and Ryun Williams (women's basketball).

Half-Court Heave By Coach Gets Free Tuition

Brandon University in Manitoba has an activity on campus where, if a member of the basketball team hits a half-court shot, the student associated with it gets free tuition...

Mason Kaluzniak chose a member of the team all right... the head coach, Gil Cheung...

Here's what happened...


“Being a smaller university we have get to know our students really well, and in turn get to have a lot of fun with them,” said Cheung. “This was a lot of fun for everyone involved and I'm just happy I was able to make the shot for Mason.”

Half Court Bomb From Utah High School Basketball. Great Video

This comes from a high school basketball game Friday night in Utah and it’s outstanding video.  The Herriman Mustangs battled the Olympus Titans and Herriman’s Alex Johnson sent the game into overtime with a half court bomb.

You’ve got to love the enthusiasm of high school basketball.

Unfortunately for the Mustangs Olympus would outscore Herriman 10-6 in the overtime period to win the game 49-45.

Okay, this is actually pretty cool.

Say what you will about LeBron James, but it's obvious the guy just likes having basketball related fun.

If you haven't seen this video, check out the reaction after a fan at Friday night's Miami Heat/Detroit Pistons game tries a half-court shot for $75,000.

The guy kind of throws up a semi-hook...baseball throw kind of shot...and drains it!

Then watch what happens. James comes running off the bench and tackles him. It's really funny.

ICYMI: Half Court Money Shot Fail

Please forgive us if you've seen this, but we've been busy celebrating Brother Jon's wedding this weekend and haven't been spending much time on the Interwebs....

Friday night brought a "Half Court" money shot highlight rarely seen in these...or any other parts.

It happened at halftime Friday night in the Atlanta Hawks/Utah Jazz game in Atlanta. The guy picked from the crowd had a chance to win $1000, by making a half court shot.

And he made a good try, launching the ball with a full-on throw that as you'll see on the video, headed straight for the hoop.

Until it got stuck....on the back of the rim. Between the rim and the backboard.

And it didn't move.

Credit the Hawks halftime entertainment guy for knocking the shot in and paying the guy. It was funny. It was something you don't see every day. And that's why we are sharing it.
