Morning Wrap: Blake Griffin For the Win on a 3 Point Buzzer Beater

No, Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin is not known as a 3 point marksman. But he has hit one before.

Few were bigger than the three that he hit at the buzzer Tuesday night sending the Clippers to a 121-120 overtime win over the Phoenix Suns.

The bucket gave Griffin 45 points on the night, a night that apparently belonged to him.

You have to watch the shot, mostly because it hit the front of the rim, bounced high in the air...before dropping through the net.

And then the chaos ensued...

Paul George Launches From Terre Haute... And Makes...

((HT: NBA TV))

There would be only two reasons the HQ would show this...

A make or a laughable miss...

He made the former from, about, 35-feet...

No, it wasn't a continuation from the conversation of last night's selfishness on the floor from the Pacers...

The play-by-play was right... the shot clock was down to two and hadn't reset...

Nice launch...

BUZZER BEATER: MGH For Three And The Win

((HT: ACCDN))

The meteorological shenanigans here in the southeast pushed the Georgia tech-Boston College game back a day- almost...

A 5:00 tip the next day gave BC the chance, at least, to get home a little sooner than otherwise because of all the re-freezing that turned streets into sheets of ice overnight...

And for Georgia Tech, it has been a long few years... struggling in the bottom half of the ACC in hoops...

But the shot by Marcus Georges-Hunt made the folks on the Flats feel a little better as the Jackets got the win...
And every win these days is huge...

El Bron Drops Dagger On GSW

((HT: NBATV))

Remember when everyone challenged LeBron James and wanted him to take the last shot- knowing he would pass off...

Didn't do that Wednesday night in the Heat-Golden State game...

James finishes with 36, 13, and 9 in the one-point win as Dwyane Wade sat out...

BUZZER BEATER: Releford Buries Ole Miss Snapping Alabama's 4-Game Losing Streak

((HT: SEC on ESPN))

This was a bad loss for Ole Miss and Andy Kennedy...

Too many times in the last ten seconds that the ball was in the hands of Bama's Trevor Releford...
And he closed the deal...

"We were running, and when I caught it back I saw Marshall (Henderson) try to slip the screen so I just crossed back over and took the shot. I took what he gave me.” Releford said.

He [Releford] really carried them down the stretch which is what a senior all-league player does, and he made a big shot.” Ole Miss head coach Andy Kennedy said.

Releford finished the game with a team high 26 points.

Most importantly Releford's game winner snapped Alabama's four game losing streak.

"It was a lot of relief (for) the players," Releford said. "We've been coming out and practicing hard, and we just needed a win. We deserved it.
"I'm happy for everybody on the team and glad we got the win."

Chandler Parsons Has A Bit Of An Outside Shot

((HT: NBA))

Houston was facing a Memphis Grizzlies team that had, until last night were 0-10 against Southwest Division squads, and still lost with the effort we'll talk about below...

Chandler Parsons hit a career-high 34 points on 11-for-17 shooting, including 10-for-14 shooting from 3-point range. But Houston (29-16) had a three-game win streak snapped in an 88-87 win by the Griz...

Here's the highlights of his shooting...

For the record, Parsons hit his first 10 3-point attempts of the second half, matching Kenny Smith's franchise record for most consecutive shots hit from three. Parsons also become the first player in franchise history to hit six three-pointers in a quarter when he shot 6-for-6 in the third...

Still didn't work...

OSG High: A 3 For The Right Reasons...

((HT: Prep Rally/Rohrbach))

The HQ always enjoys posting stories like this...

Glendale Deer Valley (AZ) High manager Jose Meraz played only one moment in his whole high school career, but it was a great one for the special needs student...
((HT: wattsup99))

And local coverage was what it should have been...
((HT: 12News Phoenix))
“He’s the most popular kid in school,” Deer Valley head coach Jed Dunn told AzCentral's Richard Obert. “About 12 cheerleaders were around him, hugging him and kissing him.”
As well they should have...

Bargnani Knucklehead Move Almost Costs Knicks...

((HT: FSBucks))

The bottom line here is that the Knicks beat the Bucks in double overtime last night in Milwaukee- despite themselves...

In the first OT, Andrea Bargnani did this...
And the Bucks color guy, Jon McGlocklin, went after him...

“It was a mistake,” Bargnani admitted after the game, according to Newsday. “It was a bad decision.”

Pesky Belmont Continues Being Pesky

((HT: ACC Sports))

Belmont is always one of those teams that, in the post-season tournament, you can pick in one of those 5-12 games and be fairly confident in picking the Bruins as a 12...

Sunday in Chapel Hill was one of those reasons you can be confident in picking them in March...

Belmont goes into UNC and knocks off the Tarheels, 83-80...

The key highlight at the end of the reel is the JJ Mann three that gave the visitors the win...
