Worst First Pitch Ever This Week So Far: Charles Barkley Edition

((ht: mlb.com))

Yikes! Who knew that NBA legend and TNT basketball analyst Charles Barkley would throw a first pitch nearly as ugly as his golf swing.

Check out the Chuckster as he steps up to the mound Tuesday night at the Chicago Cubs game vs. the visiting Cincinnati Reds.

And no, it's by no means the worst first pitch ever, there have been far worse this season, it does qualify as the worst one so far this week.

So we'll share it: (Thanks mlb.com)

Try And Match This First Pitch Effort

((HT: MLB.com))

The HQ doesn't think that there will be any first pitch effort that will match Japanese film/martial arts star Rina Takeda's from this past weekend.

Chiba Lotte Marines versus Seibu Lions and all we can say is:

"Well, all right then..."

She can be excused for a bit of a short hop after smashing her forehead

Eddie Vedder Throws A First Pitch At Wrigley

((HT: CSNChicago))

Just how big a Cubs fan is the lead singer of Pearl Jam...???

THIS BIG

Well, before the Padres game he got to reinforce his love for the team with a little pitch and catch with Anthony Rizzo...

A little low and inside to the left-handed batter and a little Luis Tiant in the delivery, but otherwise pretty solid.

You! You Got What I Need!!!

((HT: MLB.com))

By way of a first pitch...

Get your head out of the gutter...
The MLB Network broadcast the Oakland A's game with Biz Markie throwing out the first pitch...

Which caused the appropriate response...

105-Year-Old Throws First Pitch

((HT: MLB.com))

It would be 60 years before the San Diego Padres even had a game in town, but that was when Oceanside, California's Alice McKee was born. She got to throw out the first pitch for the team yesterday...

And we appreciate the idea that she went with the natural arm motion

The Padres need her in the pen after they got rid of Huston Street, though...

Interesting Night For Angels: Game-Winner Plus A Nasty Injury

((HT: ESPN/MLB/AP))

Any LA Angels fan can tell you that the signing of Mike Trout to the contract the team did was a steal...

Opening night was a celebration as Trout got the game-winning hit (not a "walk-off" since there was no walking involved), and Vlad Guerrero signed a one-game contract to retire as an Angel...

But the ceremony was the most shocking part of the evening where it was supposed to be a celebration- and it went wrong.

Baylor broke his leg- which, understandably, is brittle because of his fight with bone marrow cancer. Baylor has been a big, public presence in and around those fighting the battle along with him...

And we only hope that one of the best hitters in the game will be back at it soon...

Movie Promotion For A First Pitch, Not Unheard Of... But This...???

((HT: MaidigiTV))

On August 30 in Japan, the new version of the Sadako (think "The Ring" franchise here in the US), is bring released in Japan...

So, how does the Pee-Ahr company and distributor for the flick promote itself...???

Have its anti-heroine throw out a first pitch...

Okay... sounds good... but, remember, she's supposed to be a bit of a zombie...

Here's the end result...

Pretty good first pitch through all that hair, don't you think...???

Goldberg Finishes First Pitch Appropriately

((HT: MLB.com))

Okay, so what else would you expect at "Legends of Wrestling" night in Miami in front of close friends and family at the Marlins shiny boondoggle...???

Bill Goldberg throws out the first pitch and finishes it thusly...

Wouldn't have it any other way...

Maybe, Don't Call Me...

((HT: MLB.com))

The HQ doesn't think Carly Rae Jepsen will ever be asked to do this ever again- considering the results...

No more first pitches for you...

How's This For A First Pitch...???

((HT: SPOTV/youtube))

Sometimes you just have to ask "Why not...?"
Or quoting the Curtis Armstrong character's conversation with Tom Cruise in "Risky Business..."

"Joel, sometimes you just gotta say 'What the f***'"

Looks like Korean rhythmic gymnast Shin Soo-ji's philosophy was the same in the Doosan Bears game...

Top that, guys...

ICYMI: Colin Kapernick Throws Out 1st Pitch at Giants Game: Brings It

((ht: mlb.com))

Anyone want to question how strong San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kapernick's arm is?

Any questions about it should be answered after seeing the 87-mph 1st pitch Kapernick threw to kick off Friday nights Cubs/Giants game.

And no, it wasn't a strike, but in the Bay Area, it doesn't have to be.

ICYMI: New Worst Pitch Ever Could Happen to Anyone

We kind of feel sorry for John Bledsoe. He now has a lifetime "Most Embarrassing Moment".

The Orlando area insurance company owner got the opportunity to throw out the first pitch Tuesday night at the Stetson/Florida State baseball game.

And according to several reports, he practiced quite a bit, hoping not to embarrass himself or do anything silly.

That didn't happen.

Bledsoe walked out to the mound, wound up, went through his throwing motion and proceeded to slip while throwing, the ball went straight down into the ground and rolled towards the 1st base dugout.

First Pitch Fail In NYC

((HT: CSN Chicago))

Gary Green, the owner of the Royals AAA team in Omaha (and big Mets fan), got to throw out the first pitch at last night's Mets-White Sox game. And for the second time in four years, Green's pitch had issues...

Here's Steve Stone's call of the replay...

Catcher John Buck's reaction is awesome...
